[UPDATE] Before reading this, please read the official police report, which came out after a lot of the speculation about the case. It quite clearly explains how it was a suicide, based on considerable evidence from the site.

A pilot who wrote a conspiracy theory book about 9/11 is dead after he shot his two teenage children and family dog before turning the gun on himself.
Relatives and friends of Phillip Marshall were stunned by the violent crime which took place in Calaveras County on Saturday. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...en-dog-turning-gun-himself.html#axzz2KGbenrMx
Their bodies were discovered when friends of the teens went to the family home on Sandalwood Drive and looked through the windows, they could see 54-year-old Phillip Marshall lying on the floor in a pool of blood.

UPDATE: Murphys Father Allegedly Killed Children Before Suicide

February 3, 2013 6:33 PM
Deputies say 14-year-old Micaila Phillips and her 17-year-old brother Alex were shot and killed in their home, inside the gated Forrest Meadows community in the tiny town of Murphys.Investigators believe their own father shot them, and then turned the gun on himself.
...

A preliminary examination showed that all three were shot once in the head with a handgun. Hewitt says the mother of the teens and estranged wife of Phillip Marshall, was out of the country at the time.

From the perspective of a Boeing 767 captain and former "special activities" contract pilot, Philip Marshall straps the reader into the cockpits of hijacked commercial airliners to tell the story of the most sophisticated terrorist attack in history. Based on a comprehensive ten-year study into the murders of his fellow pilots on 9/11, he explains how hijackers, novice pilots at the controls of massive guided missiles, were able to beat United States Air Force fighters to iconic targets with advanced maneuvering, daring speeds and a kamikaze finish. But, as Marshall explains, the tactical plan was so precise that it rules out car-bombers and shoe-bombers known as al Qaeda, KSM and Osama bin Laden. So then, who was it? That's what you are about learn. Backed by official NTSB, FAA and black box recordings, Marshall finds the most capable and most documented group of conspirators buried deep within a Congressional Inquiry's report and retraces their work in gripping detail

Unfortunately the suggestions that he was killed were inevitable. Pretty much anyone with any alternative appeal dies nowadays, and it seems like they were whacked.

This was made to look like a suicide, but the truth is they where all murdered because of his upcoming book, which was said to reveal the real perps behind 9/11. He would never off himself, says people that know him, he also was the leading 9/11 expert on aviation.

I too agree that he was "suicided".

A lot of similarities with Chip Tatum's death also.

Well until I read more about the book and events I will reserve judgment . . . he is most likely a person of passion, maybe unstable but maybe this is totally out of character . . . if it is out of character . . . then what does one suspect . . .?

Suicide? Out of character? That probably describes a lot of them.

https://www.google.com/search?q="unexpected+suicide"

I don't want to belittle the tragedy. But I don't think it should automatically be viewed as suspicious even if it is out of the blue. There's plenty of truthers out there. If they were going to spill the beans then by far the safest thing to do would be to spill them, not say they were, and wait for the MIB to show up.

Suicide, especially murder-suicide, is one of those thing that is very difficult to comprehend, so unfortunately it is is easy to slip in creating alternative narratives.

And of course fo many people, a "shill" like myself saying that is just more "evidence".

The fact that the family dog was shot in a bedroom, makes it more likely to me that it was a murder/suicide. The others were found in the front of the house. The dog would have either come out and barked or something at any intruder, or the dog would have cowed in a back room in fear. If that had happened, the dog would not have come to an attacker's notice.

I don't necessarily agree . . . it depends on the dog's nature . . . what if Mr M put the dog in the bedroom when a visitor showed up at the door . . . I have done that myself. . . there was a Mrs M. the shooter could have been looking for her . . .

Lee, what is your reaction to this bit of news????

I only know what I've read here, so far, but, well G - a man with a wife and kids and dog and home. A man with a book just about to come out (is that right?) on a subject he felt passionate enough about to put it together and get it published - what the hell did he have to live for? First impressions? A clear case of 'suicide', by the look of it.

That's an appalling thing to say.

Plenty of truthers out there? When it comes to committing suicide? But you're usually saying how few their dwindling numbers are!

Aaaah! Just got it - the dwindling numbers are because they're all killing themselves! Simple equation that one, now I see it.

If one were into conspiracies . . . of course that would not be either of us . . . this could look like a warning to others to stop snooping . . . not that he might know anything . . . but others might . . . so move along and keep coloring or this could happen to you and yours . . . or he just went crazy and did himself, his dog and two children in while his wife was away . . . or could she have had them all done in . . . ??? Yes . . . seems the book is real . . .http://www.amazon.com/The-Big-Bamboozle-War-Terror/dp/1468094580

No, that's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that if he had any information, then he, or the legions of other truthers (dwindling numbers, but still at least in the thousands), would have released it by now. I see no benefit to a supposed conspiracy in killing him.

I'm sure you could concoct a scenario though.

Hadn't he already written two tell-all books? Seems a little late.

I suspect the dog as an al ciada mind-controlled suicide assassin. What sort of dog was it exactly? With some dogs, all you have to do is wave a filthy piece of meat bound for the garbage in their face and they'll do whatever you want. Easy meat for the old mk ultra mob. I think it's the most likely scenario. Look at the science.

I don't agree it could be very useful . . . . . . so move along and keep coloring or this could happen to you and yours . . .

Exactly. It's not like it isn't a well-worn tactic of 'Mafias' (and that includes all 'governments') generally, is it? I think it's called intimidation. It's as old as we are.

Custody battles, financial collapse and deteriorating physical or mental health are common factors in this type of crime, wrote Richard Gelles, professor and dean of the School of Social Policy and Practice at the University of Pennsylvania, in an email Tuesday.“My quick read (of news clips) and my experience suggests he might have been in a downward spiral of mental illness,” Gelles said.
Hewitt said any information on Marshall’s mental health revealed in the investigation will not be released, nor could he say whether any medications were discovered at the home.
A report of domestic violence involving Marshall was made in December 2008.
He allegedly slapped Erin Chamberlain, the sister of his estranged wife, Sean Marshall, in the face during an argument with both women about custody of Macaila.
Philip Marshall was arrested and briefly taken into custody but no charges were filed.
About a month before that incident, on Nov. 11, 2008, Philip Marshall called police to allege his wife had illegally entered his Forest Meadows home two months after their separation earlier that year and taken pills for which she did not have a prescription.
Court records state Marshall told a deputy who responded that afternoon that Sean Marshall entered the house “while he was hiding in the shower with a video camera.”
He told police she went straight for a bottle of six 20-milligram pills of Kadian, an extended-release morphine medication prescribed for patients who have shown a tolerance for similar opioid painkillers.
During the response, Sean Marshall drove up and was arrested, the records stated.
She told police she took the pills and hid them in a tree so she could give them to her lawyer.
The Calaveras County District Attorney’s Office charged Sean Marshall with petty theft, trespassing and possession of drugs without a prescription.
Court records show the case continued in the Calaveras County Superior Court while she attended Alcoholics Anonymous and/or Narcotics Anonymous meetings. After providing an attendance card at a Sept. 28, 2009, hearing, all charges against her were dismissed.
Sean Marshall filed for a divorce from her estranged husband in October 2012 with no hearings set in the case until Feb. 25.
Statistics show murder-suicides most often target the perpetrator’s spouse as a victim. Sean Marshall had been traveling in Turkey when notified of the loss, according to a Sheriff’s Office statement.
“Some of these murder suicides are designed to punish the other spouse,” Gelles noted, even if that person is not killed.
Financial troubles do not appear to be a factor. According to county records, the Sandalwood Drive home where Philip Marshall resided was not in foreclosure and taxes were current on the property. The house was refinanced in July, and the couple had taken out a $235,000 home equity loan in 2006.
Philip Marshall had been a commercial pilot for about 20 years before leaving that career for unknown reasons. He published several books claiming to have flown as a contract pilot for the CIA and Drug Enforcement Agency and to have uncovered a Saudi-American plot to perpetrate the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

In the article - the wife says that his claim to have been a CIA contract pilot in the Iran-Contra deal was a fantasy. But she also said this:

She said Marshall did provide a kind of taxi service for notorious drug smuggler-turned-informant Barry Seal, who had been linked to the CIA prior to his February 1986 assassination by a trio of Medellin Cartel henchmen from Colombia.

Immediately following that in the article:

A CIA spokesman said Tuesday that the agency could not substantiate Marshall’s claims.

Oh, right. That's that cleared up then.

Exactly. It's not like it isn't a well-worn tactic of 'Mafias' (and that includes all 'governments') generally, is it? I think it's called intimidation. It's as old as we are.

Intimidating people AFTER they have written "tell all" books, and AFTER 12 years of "truther" efforts seems like closing the door on an empty stable.

If truthers haven't managed to reveal "the secret yet", despite a sustained and intensive efforts at doing so, then their inability seems to me to be more evidence of absence - they cannot find anything because there is nothing to find.

Do you live in a bubble? Thousands?! Tens of millions, more like! You must move in very particular circles.

That might make an interesting discussion. How many truthers are there? Of course it kind of depends how you define a truther - made it happen vs. let it happen vs. glad it happend.

Worldwide there's certainly a lot, particularly in anti-american muslim countries, but how many in the US? Let's look at some facebook groups:

9/11 Was an Inside Job - 15.5K
AE911 Truth - 120K
We Are Change - 114K
We Are Change Los Angeles - 154 (No K, just 154)

So out of 1 billion active users, only about 120K of them liked a truther page. That's 0.012%. And I suspect that not all of them are really that hard core.

Of course that's still a lot of people, but it's really not very much of the total population.

Anecdotally I have about 200 friends and acquaintances on FB. Other than a few I friended because of my visit to the chemtrail conference, there's only one that thinks the WTC was a controlled demolition.

Don't think that is a scientific survey . . . I am not a member of any organization except AARP . . . many of my acquaintances are highly suspect of 911 including a few PhDs, MDs and engineers . . .

So what? I set up a FB account in the name and character and photos of my dog. Who was off to better places, ie dead. I got that many 'friends' in no time! My surrealist experiment was a great success, even if I say so myself! It's almost less than meaningless.

Not all countries that are 'anti-american' are Muslim, most of them aren't. Nice bit of the old zeitgeist there, though, well done for getting that in there - 'blame the ragheads', good racist undertones of the general establishment view faithfully repeated....Most people in this world recognize the US as the aggressor, the tyrant, the murderer, the imperialist, the 'not so good at humility', the greatest abuser of great power (military power, that is).

Your censorship is an outrage to free speech. Your grounds for 'politeness' are completely arbitrary, it appears. But then, addiction has its price.

Don't know but rule of thumb for congressional staffers is for each constituent that writes a letter of concern there are at least 25 others who have similar concerns . . .

This is a bit like the death of conspiracy theorist Bill Cooper, who was shot in the head sometime in November 2001. He was for a long time victim of tax evasion and he was tagged as a major fugitive in 2000. On November 2001, the Apache County's sheriff's deputies attempted to arrest Bill at his house after charges were made against him by his neighbors of " aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangerment stemming from earlier disputes with local residents"

As the cops arrived at his house, Bill pulled out a gun on them and started shooting at them, leading to a gun fight between him and the cops. Bill ended up shooting one of them in the head and Cooper was eventually fatally wounded. Despite this, his fans say that the government wanted to get him for "revealing the truth".

[...] Killing someone doesn't count as intimidation any more, well spotted - you can't intimidate a dead person too well - what have they got to lose? But others, who may have been having similar ideas to the dead 'un - now, they're still alive!

You left out "the largest supplier of humanitarian aid in the world", "birthplace of the Internet", and some other little things like being at the forefront of innovation in science & engineering for the better party of a century.

I think you are largely mistaken about the world's perception of the US. There are few non-Muslim countries that as part of their doctrine are "anti-American"(in addition to there being few Muslim countries that are). I'm curious if you can show me a video of people rioting and burning American flags in a non-Muslim country.
