Aurora James Holmes Batman shootings, Conspiracy Theories

Some segments of the conspiracy culture believe that everything they see in the media is staged. In recent times EVERY major incident that hits the news is met with skepticism in some circles.

Almost immediately after the shooting, they started making images like these, and posting them on Facebook. As you can see from the comments, they are not met with skepticism:

The image above is clearly jumping the gun, making the most tenuous of speculative connections based on initial partial information. Initial reports of shootings are always confused, and frequently the number of shooters is unclear (and especially so in this situation, a dark theater, with a loud shooting scene playing). 71 people being hit is not so amazing when you find out that he had a shotgun, two handguns, and a rifle with a 100 round magazine. He did not kick down the door, he open it from the inside, and propped it open then returned with the guns.

The above image is suggesting it's all staged because the "bomb squad" is not wearing full body armor like one of the guys on the left is.

MK-Ultra was a code name for a CIA program in the 1960s that experimented with various forms of behavior modification, including using drugs. The suggestion above is that Holmes was brainwashed by the CIA as a "Manchurian Candidate" assassin, or as a patsy.

The above links to this frame grab with the caption.

The above conspiracy theory rather deceptively picks a shot where there's 12 skeleton visible. In the full shot there's actually 25:

There's also a rash of pro-gun posts, but that's more to be expected.

Some sites immediate go into creating detailed speculation:

http://www.naturalnews.com/036536_James_Holmes_shooting_false_flag.html
"After his arrest, Holmes told police about 'possible explosives in his residence,' Oates said. When police searched his apartment, they discovered it was booby-trapped and evacuated surrounding buildings, police said. Oates said bomb technicians are determining how to disarm flammable or explosive material in the third-floor apartment. He said police could be there some time."

None of this checks out. If you're a killer bent on causing mayhem, why tell the police about your surprise bomb waiting for them back at your apartment?

Holmes was clearly provided with exotic gear

Continuing from CBS:

"He said pictures from inside the apartment are fairly disturbing and the devices look to be sophisticated, adding the booby-traps were 'something I've never seen.' One rifle, two handguns, a knife, a bullet proof vest, a ballistic helmet, a gas device, a gas mask, military SWAT clothing and unidentified explosives were also found in Holmes' car, a law enforcement source told CBS News. Oates said Holmes wore a gas mask, a ballistic helmet and vest as well as leg, groin and throat protectors during the shooting."

In other words,
this guy was equipped with exotic gear by someone with connections to military equipment. SWAT clothing, explosives, complex booby-traps... c'mon, this isn't a "lone gunman." This is somebody who was selected for a mission, given equipment to carry it out, then somehow brainwashed into getting it done.

Now the conspiracists are claiming an FBI warning issued in May proves the attack in CO was staged. Not sure what the original source is but the story seems to have grown legs with a dutchsinse vid.

7/21/2012 -- FBI theater attack warning issued on May 17, 2012

While it does appear to be a legitimate warning/document, it does not say, nor elude to a lone loony sans political agenda.

Terrorists’ Interest in Attacking Theaters and Similar Mass Gatherings

An early April 2012 suicide bombing of a theater in Somalia and a violent
extremist communication advocating attacks on US theaters highlight terrorists’
continued interest in attacking such venues. Although we have no specific or credible
information indicating that terrorists plan to attack theaters in the United States, terrorists
may seek to emulate overseas attacks on theaters here in the United States because
they have the potential to inflict mass casualties and cause local economic damage.

A more recent warning was issued on the day of the shooting, perhaps in response to that event or just as a normal part of DHS warnings:

DHS Infrastructure Protection Note: Performance Venues – Indicators of Violence and Protective Measures

It's the job of DHS to issue warnings and information to a variety of agencies and the public covering many subjects:

Terrorist Use of Vehicle Ramming Tactics
Mubtakar: An Improvised Cyanide-Producing Device

A list of related subjects from the May theater warning:

Infrastructure Protection Report: Amusement, Theme, and Water Parks
DHS General Protective Measures For Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED)
Infrastructure Protection Report: Stadiums and Arenas
(U//FOUO) DHS Infrastructure Protection Note: Evolving Threats to the Homeland
Infrastructure Protection Report: Mail and Package Handling Facilities
(U//FOUO) DHS U.S. Lodging Industry Protective Measures Guide
Mail and Package Handling Facilities: Vulnerabilities and Protective Measures
DHS Biosecurity Infrastructure Protection Assessments and Activities Brief

The bottom line is DHS issues a lot of warnings on an ongoing basis so the chances are quite good that one of those warnings would somehow relate to any number of events.

The idea that the timing of the attack had anything to do with the upcoming vote on the UN Small Arms Treaty is total bunk as well. The UN treaty only covers the international trade of small arms and assault weapons, of which the US is the most prolific exporter thereof. The UN treaty specifically excludes itself from jurisdiction over the internal gun laws within each countries own borders, thereby protecting the sovereignty of signatories. Considering how most conspiracists view the Military Industrial Complex, which includes small arms manufacturers, as part of the evil PTB, why in the world would they stage an attack in order to get a treaty passed that would seriously undermine their profits and curtail their ability to "divide and conquer" by supplying arms to both sides of a conflict? It makes no sense.

The July 20th report was issued as a response to the shooting.

And of course the FBI is concerned with attacks on theaters and other mass gathering. It's an obvious and easy target, like the subway.

The DHS has a whole department for this type of thing, the "Commercial Facilities Sector". They like their long names, there's The Office of Infrastructure Protection's Sector-Specific Agency Executive Management Office (SSA EMO)

http://www.dhs.gov/files/programs/gc_1259859901230.shtm
The Office of Infrastructure Protection's Sector-Specific Agency Executive Management Office (SSA EMO) coordinates preparedness and infrastructure protection for a wide range of facilities, from commercial buildings to stadiums, theme parks, and shopping centers. Extremely diverse, the Commercial Facilities Sector has eight major components: Entertainment and Media, Gaming, Lodging, Outdoor Events, Public Assembly, Real Estate, Retail, and Sports Leagues.

Sector Overview

Facilities associated with the Commercial Facilities Sector operate on the principle of open public access, meaning that the general public can move freely throughout these facilities without the deterrent of highly visible security barriers. The majority of the facilities in this sector are privately owned and operated, with minimal interaction with the Federal government and other regulatory entities.
The Commercial Facilities Sector consists of the following eight subsectors:

  1. Public Assembly (e.g., arenas, stadiums, aquariums, zoos, museums, convention centers);
  2. Sports Leagues (e.g., professional sports leagues and federations);
  3. Gaming (e.g., casinos);
  4. Lodging (e.g., hotels, motels, conference centers);
  5. Outdoor Events (e.g., theme and amusement parks, fairs, campgrounds, parades);
  6. Entertainment and Media (e.g., motion picture studios, broadcast media);
  7. Real Estate (e.g., office and apartment buildings, condominiums, mixed use facilities, self-storage); and
  8. Retail (e.g., retail centers and districts, shopping malls).

There are at least 2 witness testimonies that contradict your statement that the shooter propped open the door, left and then returned with the firearms. Those witneses (if I can find links to the local news interviews of thme I will post them later) both said on camera that someone on a cell phone went to the door and opened it up and then returned to their seat and shortly afterwards the guy dressed in all black walked in side and the rest is what transpired.

While the rest of that first image does make some weak connections to imply a "psyop" its just as bad to use incorrectly assumed information to try and counter the orginal claim.

Well this one is the reason I'm here right now... after doing my normal bs google search... I found only one page specific enough to directly refute the insanity I was getting from my friends on this... friends... that are otherwise perfectly rational...

So yeah... hello. I'm Giuliano, the guy who just spent two days arguing with people who think the shooter was brainwashed by the CIA, and that George Bush was a satanist because there is a photoshoped picture of him holding a goat book upside down.

Any thoughts about the bomb in that nuts basement? That's the newest line I'm getting from them. They claim its too complicated for an average person to make... given how easy it is to make one if you know anything about chemistry I've been batting that one away but it would be great if I had details about what the bomb actually consisted of, and not just what they keep telling me.

The average person can do quite a lot given time and recipes. And Holmes was a pretty smart guy. Just consider if YOU were to make a booby trapped apartment, and were given several months to think about it, and weeks to get the stuff and set it up. What would you do?

http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/07/24/usa-shooting-denver-idINL2E8IO33320120724

A law enforcement official who was on the scene during the weekend and has expertise in improvised explosives said the assembly of explosives and trip wires was extensive. Inside the apartment they found 30 aerial shells filled with gunpowder, two containers brimming with liquid accelerants and numerous bullets left to explode in the resulting fire.
Lopez said the array in Holmes' apartment, which police believe was designed to kill first responders, required no special training to set up.
"This kind of information exists on the Internet," Lopez said. "If you're looking to wire explosives, it is on the Internet. With a little bit of common sense, and he has quite a bit of that, he's very intelligent, he just put it all together and had something ready for the apartment."

Most of the conspiracy arguments are an "argument from ignorance". The theorist can't figure out how something was done, hence it must be a conspiracy. Also known as the argument from lack of imagination.

That's more or less what I figured, thanks for the article. Its funny, I've heard plenty of conspiracy theories over the years, but this mind control stuff is just a tad crazier than what I'm used to. This is Nibiru level crackpottery.

did you see the mk ultra pic? that really happened it was a cia program.....theres also a heart attack gun disscused and shown to memebers of congress in the 70's .....IN THE 70'S do you really think they have not continued programs of this type?

Yes, MK Ultra really happened. But it was not a program to train university graduates to shoot up theaters. The idea of a "Manchurian Candidate" was an extreme suggestion, up there with killing goats by staring at them. The majority of MK-Ultra was about testing substances and torture techniques for use in interrogation. Most notably using LSD. But "brainwashing" like is being suggested (precise mental programming) is pretty much an urban myth, and does not really exist. Cult participation is about the limit.

You know there are crazy people in the world, right? Occasionally they do crazy things. And they always have.

That and this was par for the course for intelligence services at the time. They actually attempted to turn Hitler into a woman by bribing someone at his estate to put female hormones in his food... The people who came up with that idea were the forerunners of the CIA...

And regarding money, you can put quite a bit on credit cards, especially if you've no intention of paying them off.

That was another point raised by the conspiracists I argued with, I just told him that guns aren't that hard to acquire and we don't know that he bought them. Now I have an answer, he did buy them, and he used a grant to pay for it. I wonder if they will claim that the national institute of health is in league with satan and the snake people...

26000 of government money for what ?

you could read the article and find out.

But in case that is too much to ask - yere you go:

It gave the graduate student a $26,000 stipend and paid his tuition for the highly competitive neuroscience program at the University of Colorado in Denver. Holmes was one of six neuroscience students at the school to get the grant money.

The guys just plain nuts ? or did he purposely send the letter to his psychiatrist to make it look like he was crazy ?

Something written on one of those facebook images above, caught my attention.

"A MASKED VILLIAN MURDERED INNOCENTS SO POLITICIANS CAN DISARM THE PEOPLE"

Obviously, it's far too early to speculate on this one being a "staged psyop" ...in all likelihood, it's probably not. There actually are some nuts in the world, who act alone.

I may be at risk of venturing slightly off topic (in regard to this particular shooting incident)
...But, if you substitute the words "MASKED VILLIAN" ...and imagine it says "FREAKY WEIRD LOOKING GUY WITH SWOLLEN EYES MURDERED INNOCENTS, SO (AUSTRALIAN) POLITICIANS CAN DISARM THE (AUSTRALIAN) PEOPLE" ...one may recall the Port Arthur massacre, in Tasmania, Australia in 1996.

One day one crazy nut, name Martin Bryant shot & killed 35 with an assault rifle. Or so the official line goes. It just so happens to be that shortly afterward, the Howard government did pass laws, to ban all firearms above a certain class, and effectively disarm the people of Australia.
In the years since, there have been questions raised about the apparent level of marksmanship involved, and how an intellectually disabled man with no prior shooting experience, could have gotten so many precise kill-shots, while supposedly on the run, official police reports have inconsistencies of chronological order of events, and apparently he was never positively identified by any witnesses.
And, just as I originally suspected ...it turns out his eyes were digitally altered (to make him look insane) ...in the picture of him, that is always used by the media.

And there's a lot more. Too much to go into here, and I've only just began looking into it again. It might all be bunk. Maybe Bryant really was the shooter. But maybe not...

Read the actual accounts of the shootings? Most of the shootings were at very close quarters, and no marksmanship was needed. But Bryant had possessed an AR-10 for three years prior to the shooting, and having a low IQ is hardly something that prevents shooting accuracy.

Let's not forget the Aramoana massacre in New Zealand that also precipitated increased restrictions on possession of military-style semi-automatics there.

But in both New Zealand and Australia gun ownership is actually extensive, with hunting a common activity. However it is retricted to civilian-type long firearms (shotguns & rifles), with pistol ownership severly restricted to members of pistol shoting clubs IIRC, and with quite strict controls on how those can be transported, kepts, etc. there is no such thing as "concealed carry" in eithder country - and never has been AFAIK.

the idea that the population is "disarmed" is nonsense, and nor is ther any public appetite in either country for US style "gun freedom" laws or "rights"........especialy now!

If cults could do it, imagine what the government could do

What a great post! I find it absolutely appalling that conspiracy theories arise in cases such as the Aurora, CO massacre, with no regard to the lives lost and the families affected. When logic is applied, conspiracy theories generally fall short of acceptance because they are almost never supported by actual evidence. Terms such as "Is it coincidence?", "Isn't it odd?", "That's what they want you to think.", and my favorite "Wake up!" are commonly tossed around in attempting to prove the theory at hand. The conspiracy theorist makes a special plea (which is a logical fallacy) to the observer that their speculations are to be considered evidential based on their own ideologies and paranoia. Again, no actual, objective, and unbiased evidence. Coincidences happen in nature at an extremely high rate, in nature, and in controlled experiments. Coincidence does not count as evidence. Coincidences are not always explainable, but they don't logically need to be explained because they are simply mundane and only prove that coincidences happen.

1) James did not "kick in" any door whatsoever. His equipment was waiting for him outside of the emergency exit door. He purchased a ticket and was sitting in the movie theater before retrieving said equipment.

2) the tear gas was weak and home made.

3) The man in court is NOT James Holmes. dont believe me? google James Holmes comparison photos.

I believe this was staged, not necessarily by the government, but he is some sort of sleeper agent for some underground organization with ties in the government. Mr. Holmes is currently wandering free somewhere under immunity and/or protection against prosecution. Possibly with a new identity. I firmly believe the man facing the charges for this crime was already a convicted criminal in another country, and was offered a stint in an american prison if he kept his mouth shut and took the wrap. notice how the whole time he has been in court, hes all mumbles, wont talk straight to anyone, possibly to mask an accent the the real James Holmes did not have. food for thought.

(on my friends computer at another friends house)

Well they never give up do they? now apparently the government is so godlike it can create crazier looking versions of their so called "patzie's" to do the trial bit. Its almost sad how easy this is to pick apart... they really must live in an echo chamber devoid of self awareness and critical thought to think this bunk, is anything other than bunk.

I would assume that metabunk.org itself is a disinformation site, and hence increases evidence for a conspiracy.

My guess is that Holmes had as much to the shooting as the anthrax scientist who was found dead, and declared a suicide, had to do with sending anthrax after 9/11. i.e. he had nothing to do with the shooting, but was a convenient stooge.

Lol....thats the best I can come up with.

Well...actually...maybe a bit more. The scientist accused of the anthrax thing was ostracized and persecuted by the research community. Might be because he appears to have been a bit of a whack job as well. As he was under investigation, possibly about to be indicted, and unable to be employed and became further depressed...he then committed suicide. At least as I understand. Not much different than the factory worker who is layed off after a plant closing and kills his entire family, then himself.

(I just HAD to revive this.)
You sound a little like a CIA spook to me. There is much more to life than what we see, and especially can't see. Do I believe that men have stared at goats and killed them?--not necessarily. But, it doesn't mean people don't have those abilities locked and hidden deep down inside of them somewhere. Mind control is a very real thing. Did you even read the Wikipedia MK Ultra article that you posted? The very first line states: "Project MKUltra, or MK-Ultra, was a covert, illegal human research program into behavioral modification run by the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA) Office of Scientific Intelligence."--BEHAVIORAL, MODIFICATION. It goes on to state: "MKUltra involved the use of many methodologies to manipulate people's individual mental states and alter brain functions[.]"--MANIPULATE, PEOPLE'S, INDIVIDUAL, MENTAL STATES; ALTER, BRAIN FUNCTIONS. If they could change the behavior and alter brain functions of individuals back then (which they undoubtedly could--it's well documented), then there's no way they can't do it now. We are more advanced then we were back in the 50's and 60's. We have technologies that would blow the top of your skull off--literally. If you can imagine it, it very likely exists--ten fold. We've had the ability to defy gravity long before WWII--when the "Nazis" were making Vril spacecraft. It's funny how the "naysayers" always say nay, and then are schooled by their own "proof".
What's also funny is when "they" state that there are crazy people in the world that do crazy things, yet fail to mention that people in general are crazy and nuts also exist within the 1%! HA HA! How foolish!! Look into the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment; read a little about the Jesuits and Edgar Hoover; go to National Archives dot gov and run a search under Nazi and Chase to find out a little about what Chase bank was doing with Jew assets (http://www.archives.gov/ [Chase by the way was started by none other than David Rockefeller who is of Jewish decent]); find out how IBM was providing "Jew recording computers" to the concentration camps; look up who Standard Oil was providing it's products to during WWII (USA AND Nazi Germany!); read about the financial grants Chase was giving to the Nazi scientists during WWII; look up where Hitler got the idea for eugenics (the good ol' CORPORATE STATE OF AMERICA [http://hnn.us/articles/1796.html]); AND READ ABOUT HOW AMERICA WAS INCORPORATED, AND ALL OF US RENDERED SLAVES (here you can find the legal definition of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA [http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/28/3002]!!! . Pull your head out; wake up; smell the coffee, and then slap yourself so you might see clearly for once.

"Do I believe that men have stared at goats and killed them?--not necessarily. But, it doesn't mean people don't have those abilities locked and hidden deep down inside of them somewhere. "

Really if that could be done there would be a lot of dead ex husbands and wives.

Ha ha! That's pretty funny, but you obviously missed the point "Mr." Penny-Wise. And honestly, how do you know there aren't any of these husbands and wives, who you speak of, that have died by said means? Stranger things have happened. Take the theorized Big Bang for example. Where did this something come from when there's (presumably) no way to create something from nothing? And oh yeah... you ever heard of black magic? (“Black magic? No way! How could THAT possibly exist?!”) The occult possesses powers beyond your (potentially [yet understandably] naive) beliefs. Perhaps those black-magic-toting humans are something more than just humans; perhaps not.
There are most certainly "Gods"--One rules over light; one rules over dark. But they both possess powers that no biological entity will ever be able to fully comprehend (most likely) in this lifetime. And they both can pass down those powers to us mere mortals--they are that powerful.
However... who's to say we aren't capable of such things in our present state of being (flesh-and-blood entities), without the help of any external forces? Who's to say that we can't tap into another level of consciousness where these types of powers DO exist? I know I'M not one to say... and you're most likely not one to say as well.
Don't limit yourself to just simply what you can see, feel, hear, touch, taste, and smell--you are capable of much more. Just because you can't or don't see or feel something, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, or that it's impossible. Do you think Einstein would have come up with what he had (E=mc2 to say the least), had he not thought that space-time was malleable?--or that it even existed?!!
The human mind is very powerful. Start putting it to use; else be rendered a mindless drone.

P.S. To get back to the subject... I know for a fact that plenty of conspiracy theorists put their own little "ignorant twist" on certain things. People want to believe certain things so badly that they fail to put time into researching what they were "told" because it seemed irrefutable, as the "facts" in question came from a "good" source. I know from experience, as I'm guilty of committing "Milgram-experiment-type" fallacies as well. We all have and we all will continue to commit fallacies lest our views be held in an objective light. Don't be a lemming--question authority.

Take the theorized Big Bang for example. Where did this something come from when there's (presumably) no way to create something from nothing?

The big bang theory describes the expansion of the universe. It says nothing about the creation of the universe.

Just like the theory of evolution describes speciation ( the origin of species) and does not describe the origin of life.

You are correct... yet not so correct. The original Big Bang theory, better known as the "hypothesis of the primeval atom" (Georges Lemaître), describes the early development of the Universe... PLUS, what it started as--a single point (Primeval Atom [a "something"]). It even states that the point which was to eventually "bang" is of unknown origins. Edwin Hubble did not originate this theory--he just helped support it.
