What's Inside ?.....5g protection devices, radionic wish machines, etc...

I was cruising Ebay when I came across some of the popular passive type (no power supply needed) EMF eliminating devices found under the category "Natural & Alternative Remedies"......like stickers attached to the back of your phone, orgonite pyramids, etc.

(disclaimer: I do not possess any of these devices, nor have I tested their functionality, but I do know they are rather pricey $$)

But I also came across some "powered" devices to protect the user from the suggested harmful positively charged EMF waves by counteracting these with negatively charged waves, thereby neutralizing them somehow. It all depending on who is describing it.

Here is a device, "Total Shield EMF Protection" powered by an AC/DC wallwart (found on Amazon as well) ....

But, WHAT'S INSIDE ?

For about $400 US, it seems like a PVC pipe, a circuit board to drive some blinking LEDs, and a coiled piece of copper wire (not connected to anything).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is another "powered" EMF protection device called the "Geoclense" that plugs directly into an AC socket.....but it looks like it's not active in any way.
Screenshot 2022-05-11 at 14-32-00 Geoclense® Gold Home and Workplace Harmonizer.png
Their website describes like this....
(excerpt)
The Geoclense® resin block, called Orgonium® which is unique and exclusive to Orgone Effects® Australia, is a man-made smart crystal formulation which has been frequency infused to produce a healthy "negative charge".
This negative charge frequency is carried by the electrical wiring to appliances that create EMF which all have a positive charge; the harmful component of ANY radiation field. The negative charge from the Geoclense® "neutralizes" or “harmonizes” the positive charge, thus making ALL EMF fields no longer harmful to the human meridian system, bio-field and organs.
Among the Radionic devices, some use the claimed power "generated" by crystals wrapped in wire (??), while others are conventionally powered to include blinking LEDs and low power amplifiers connected to some sort of coil or antenna.
Historically radionics primarily has been an alternative health technology used for diagnosing and treating disease. However, in the 1950's agricultural devices were developed that helped farmers treat their animals and soil, replacing expensive vet bills, pesticides and fertilizers with radionic procedures. Modern improvements on those early discoveries have resulted in a renaissance of radionics on the farm.
Sadly, the use of radionics to treat humans has been outlawed in most states, with many practitioners forced to quit or go underground. The only place one can readily find skeptics using radionics is in veterinary medicine, where the prohibitive costs of hospitalizing large animals has made radionic treatments an attractive alternative, even to disbelievers.
This one is called an "Analog Radionic Analyzer", aka sometimes called a "wishing machine".
It was opened-up to see What's Inside ? from the Hakaday site.
I could not find any sites testing these devices with conventional test instruments.
Many of the promotional sites I read somehow suggest that these "cannot" be tested by conventional lab equipment, because the devices work in completely different forms of energy, thereby making it a useless endeavor.
Ahhhh, that mysterious aether !!
The placebo effect works especially well for imagined ailments. In that sense, these devices are active.
making ALL EMF fields no longer harmful to the human meridian system, bio-field and organs.
I'd say that this is technically true for EMF fields found in homes and public spaces, though "no longer" is misleading since these fields weren't harmful to begin with (CRTs excepted).
By now, I'm counting any quack device that's not actively harmful as a win, see https://www.metabunk.org/threads/anti-5g-necklaces-found-to-be-radioactive.12179/
Someone just needs to start spreading the rumours that it's the negatively charged rays that are the harmful ones, and that if you buy such devices you're making yourself more susceptible to mind control. Fight fire with fire. Under a pseudonym, obviously.
An associate of some friends has been recommending one such device of late - one made by Blushield.
I notice that it ticks some of the boxes of mentions listed by Leifer (particularly "Tesla" and "scalar energy") and promises "this new multi-wave scalar waveform configuration offers the best protection to date from radio frequency radiation and 5G."
Some Amazon reviews are positive, some say it made them feel worse, and some (21%) give it one star ("There's nothing in the known universe that could do what this thing claims to").
There's also one review ("Scam! Be careful!") that includes a picture of the inside:
The reviewer says they bought two (!) for about $300 apiece (!). Their opinion seems to be that it's a bunch of cheap components that work to make an LED turn on and off every thirty seconds
Close up of those photos for electrician boffins to look at and figure out:
It's apparently a rejigged 5V power supply:
Other of their devices were built into hard drive enclosures. Though I suppose there's no crime in that at least.
since all of these devices offer no protection, they're simultaneously the best and the worst
Architectural room shielding
The ARCtec-flex shielding system is mainly used in rooms that are subject to the zone model (further information can be found here on the website of Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security).
This is a shielding system in which all components are integrated into the existing room architecture, thus maintaining the natural atmosphere of a room. In addition to the surface shielding, all components such as windows, doors, ventilation, cables, etc. are provided with appropriate shields. This shielding is hardly visible to the outside world, giving architects and planners the greatest possible freedom. The surface shielding is usually carried out using a 0.2mm thick copper foil. For example, the shielding system can have any conventional floor and wall covering applied to it. Depending on requirements, air conditioning, electronic installation and media technology can be integrated into them too. Detailed information on all components of such a system can be found in the ARCtec-flex system data sheets.
With architectural room shielding systems, guaranteed shielding attenuation values of > 80 dB to 10 GHz (according to IEEE 299) can be achieved in rooms. Architectural screening systems can be integrated in new buildings and existing rooms.
This is also covered by TEMPEST.
Article:
TEMPEST covers both methods to spy upon others and how to shield equipment against such spying. The protection efforts are also known as emission security (EMSEC), which is a subset of communications security (COMSEC).
Protecting equipment from spying is done with distance, shielding, filtering, and masking.[7] The TEMPEST standards mandate elements such as equipment distance from walls, amount of shielding in buildings and equipment, and distance separating wires carrying classified vs. unclassified materials,[6] filters on cables, and even distance and shielding between wires or equipment and building pipes.
While TEMPEST is nominally concerned with radiation leaking out, shielding means it can't come in, either.
As a general rule, any place where you can get a mobile phone connection is not shielded well.
And if you have a mobile phone (or any kind of computer/computerized device) near you, that device is probably the biggest source of EMF you're exposed to. The best way to do EMF detox is to grab a tent, and perhaps a couple of books.
Here's an interesting story on the subject:
https://www.permaculturenews.org/2017/07/27/got-chooks-lay/
To summarise:
  • A rural property in Australia put up a wifi booster in November 2016
  • "Around this time" the egg production of the chickens went from around 28 eggs per day to around one egg every three days
  • This lack of eggs went on for around six months, around which point a Blushield Cube was installed
  • After ten days the chickens were producing two eggs per day
  • After fifteen days, five eggs per day
  • After twenty-five days, twenty eggs per day
  • After eight weeks, an average of 19-20 eggs per day ("some days more, some days less") was recorded
This was the situation at the time the linked article was written, five years ago this month. I contacted the writer and asked if they had any update on the use of the cube and whether they had ever experimented with periods without it and this is what they said:
Over the years the cube was turned off accidentally a couple of times and we didn’t notice. We then noticed roosters fighting each other and egg laying going down. We then turned it back on and everything would return to normal within 3 days. It still works well today and I would still highly recommend it!
I tried to find studies on the effects of emf on egg laying but didn't locate any. There are however many studies on the effects of emf on the eggs themselves, with variable conclusions (ie, some report bad effects, some no effects, and some good).
This doesn't resolve the question about whether EMF actually are responsible for the phenomenon observed. There may be simpler explanations, and the fact the he observed the roosters fighting when the egg production dropped may be significant.
If space is more than adequate, assess the possibility of a rooster problem. Hens on their own in optimal conditions are not likely to fight outright, but introducing roosters to the mix is going to cause a stir.
However, with care and planning, you can make smart choices about your rooster additions. Here are a couple of considerations when assessing your rooster situation:
  • First, consider if you actually need a rooster at all. For chicken farmers raising hens solely to provide eggs for their home, or even for a small income, a rooster only causes unnecessary chaos. The males like to bully the hens to show off their dominance, and this inhibits optimal egg-laying and leads to the possibility of fertilized eggs that cannot be eaten.
We were connected up to NBN late 2015, and we got cellular reception (we had none previously) in Kin Kin in the middle of 2016. As we have quite a spread out property, we needed wifi to be boosted for everyone on the property to connect, so we put up a booster antenna around November 2016. Around the time the chooks stopped laying.
After doing my research on EMF protection options, I decided on getting a Blushield “Cube”, which would offer protection for 180 metres diameter. Blushield actually works on your body by giving the body an energy alternative to the EMFs. It is made by Tesla. We decided to put the cube in a central position close to the chickens and not to change anything for at least 6 weeks, so we could see whether it would make a difference.
Several questions arise, not the least of which is what kind of booster they used and how strong it is. Or if they ever tried turning the booster off, or reduced its transmission power. Or why they don't use cables to network several weaker WLAN access points, reducing EMF emissions.
We then noticed roosters fighting each other and egg laying going down. We then turned it back on and everything would return to normal within 3 days.
I guess the manufacturer can claim "soothes chickens" as a selling point now! Maybe playing some Pachelbel at them via a stereo would've worked just as well?
Sometimes two correlated things have a common cause.
For example, the person who turns the device off could also be changing something else that causes the roosters to fight, and the person who turns it back on also fixes the real problem, but is not aware of it because they don't connect the dots. (might be something as simple as adjusting a window)
Who knows? Tis is an interesting story though, taken at face value (naturally we skeptics must immediately fight it off at all costs).
The "What is Scalar?" page on the Blushield website makes for very interesting reading:
https://www.blushield-us.com/scalar-energy-emf/
Sounds like a bunch of far out gobbledygook that I'm surprised they put out there. Key quotes for me were:
  • Scalar fields exist as the informational/non-physical component of all matter
  • The longitudinal (scalar) component of an EM wave does not exist normally in 3 dimensional space. It moves along the axis of time itself, the 4th dimension
  • This may be hard to understand without delving deeply into quantum mechanics, but time is considered to be simply compressed energy, compressed by the factor of the speed of light squared
  • Although scalar fields cannot be detected by a standard meter, they are readily picked up by living organisms
  • Tesla accidentally rediscovered scalar waves while experimenting with violently abrupt direct current (DC) electrical charges
  • By 1904, Tesla had developed transmitters to move scalar energy back and forth while bypassing time and space with no need for wires, as it would simply materialize from one place to another through hyperspace
  • Tesla discovered a way to use scalar to create a “superweapon”, which was called a “death ray” (or peace ray) by the press at that time. Many people say that Tesla’s scalar became the basis for modern Directed-Energy Weapon (DEW) technology that can destroy undetected from a long distance using charged particle beams sourced only from energy in free air
  • You can’t actually shield from EMF because the scalar / informational component of the EMF still gets through
  • The microprocessor in Blushield delivers a complex multiple waveform algorithm of frequencies on a scalar carrier wave, which are modeled after the known patterns of nature, including the Phi ratio and Fibonacci as well as complex mathematical equations that never stimulate the body with the same combination of frequencies twice
  • This scalar wave carrying a variety of natural, coherent frequencies does not actually block the EMFs in our environment. If it did, our phones and electrical appliances would cease to function. It simply produces a competing field that’s high-powered enough for our bodies to “hear” over the incoherent EMFs.
I suppose the most immediately interesting and testable thing is the claim that Blushield devices contain a microprocessor that "delivers a complex multiple waveform algorithm of frequencies" - which seems in stark contrast to what people find when they actually open them up:
What's most interesting is that those devices that are proven to contain either nothing or "putty" also have many glowing reviews - better sleep, less headaches, positive effects on pets - as well as reviews from people who said the devices made them feel worse - just as the Blushield ones do.
placebo/nocebo effects are real effects, even if people explain them wrong
i'm not really in the "fight it off" phase of the chicken story, I'm in the "look for more information/evidence" phase because the proposed explanation (blueshield device counteracts EMF) goes against well established knowledge
as with many UFO sightings, the sighting is often real, the explanation is just wrong.
But it's hard to be sceptic about this when the only information we're given is picked to support the explanation we're given
(and we know there's some confirmation bias as most people who spend $$$ on a device prefer to think they didn't waste that money)
Scalar energy is considered, by the relatively (and shockingly) few who know it exists, as potentially the greatest discovery in the history of science.
The first time in recorded history that scalar was described was by Scottish scientist James Clerk Maxwell, in the mid 1800’s. His first equations describing electric and magnetic fields also accounted for a scalar component. His linking of electricity and magnetism in his equations formed the basis of modern physics, and also presented the theoretical possibility of scalar energy. As Maxwell’s electromagnetic concepts were further developed by early scientists (including Heinrich Hertz), the scalar theory was disregarded as “too mystical” and physically unmanifest, and therefore ineffectual. This couldn’t be further from the truth, but it took half a century longer to begin to discover the true power of scalar.
Let's do a quick check on wikipedia:
Article:
The term "Maxwell's equations" is often also used for equivalent alternative formulations. Versions of Maxwell's equations based on the electric and magnetic scalar potentials are preferred for explicitly solving the equations as a boundary value problem, analytical mechanics, or for use in quantum mechanics.
So, technically it's true that "few know it exists" because few people are theoretical physicists; however, these are exactly the kind of people who'd write about its revolutionary potential if it was real.
The fact that Maxwell's equation describe the measurable physics, yet scalar EMF is allegedly not measurable, is a clear indication there's a con going on: they're trying to lend authority to claims that deserve none.
The issue of "scalar waves" in real physics is tremendously interesting. They don't do any of the magical things ascribed to them, of course, but what they actually do is arguably even more important. Scalar fields, by which we mean fields with only one degree of freedom, like the temperature as a function of position, as opposed to e.g. vector fields like the electric field which have three components at each spacetime point, are typically the first fields a student will encounter because they are the simplest fields to develop a perturbation theory treatment for. Most experimentally useful fundamental fields are either vectors (such as the gauge bosons, including the photon from which we get electromagnetism), or spinors (such as the electron and the various quarks). There is one exception: the Higgs, which may or may not be fundamental but we don't have any evidence that it isn't.
One of the biggest puzzles in 1960s particle physics, for which Higgs and Englert earned the 2013 Nobel prize (much to the chagrin of Guralnik, Hagen, and Kibble, who contributed at least as much, but not to the disappointment of Brout, who committed the faux pas of passing away in 2011 before his contributions could be properly recognized), is how it is that the carriers of the weak force (the gauge bosons W+, W-, and Z0) can be massive. We verify experimentally that they are, no doubt, but mathematical consistency requires that a theory with a "gauge" invariance have massless gauge bosons. As many now know, the solution is that a mass must be "given" through interaction with a Higgs field, a process which has been described using many analogies and cartoons of varying accuracy.
One part of it which is not often discussed is that the degrees of freedom are all wrong. A massless field must travel at the speed of light, and there's no frame in which it's "at rest". So it can only spin in two ways (for the case of light, we identify those with rotations whose angular momentum vector lies along the direction of motion, and against it), and it only has two degrees of freedom. This is interesting -- a "vector field", like light, in four dimensions has four degrees of freedom, but only two are physical. The remaining two completely decouple from anything observable, a fact which in particle physics is known as the "Ward identity". With a massive vector particle it's different because you _can_ catch up to it, and for group theory reasons this implies that with spin 1 you get the usual 2 * 1 + 1 degrees of freedom (familiar from chemistry tables describing azimuthal quantum number). The argument may have been hard to follow, but the bottom line is this: a massive spin 1 particle has three degrees of freedom, where a massless one has only two. The project of "giving mass" to a particle through interactions seems hopeless!
But it's not hopeless -- the trick is to use just the right kind of Higgs. The Higgs used in the Weinberg-Salam flavor of the standard model is a complex scalar field with two components (a so-called weak isodoublet, named so because the analogue of electric charge for the weak interactions is a two-component object), that is, it has four real (in the sense of mathematics) components for four degrees of freedom. Subjecting this Higgs to the classic "sombrero hat" potential is what does the job of breaking the electroweak symmetry and leaves us with the massive W+, W-, and Z0, and the massless photon... the trick being that three of the four "Higgs" components were "eaten up" by the weak bosons, and became part of them! Thus supplying the missing degree of freedom. The particle that was detected in 2013 was, in fact, the one real component that retained its independence. Confusingly, everyone just uses the name "the Higgs" for the the four-component object as well as the leftover remnant.
At the end, it's clear that the photon does not have a longitudinal propagation mode, because if it did, it would be massive, like the W+, W-, and the Z0, and as a result it would be a much shorter-ranged force -- the Coulomb potential would be proportional to exp(-mr)/r instead of 1/r. But all the same, the scalar fields are crucially important, because without them, there would be nothing to supply mass to the electron, and a massless electron could never be bound to an atom.
So when you go outside and see trees of green, red roses too, you can know that scalar fields made it all happen.
At the end, it's clear that the photon does not have a longitudinal propagation mode,
I regret that most of your post went over my head, well-written as it appears to be.
I had been thinking about the "transversal wave" nature of light (as a form of electromagnetic radiation) by considering that light can be polarized, and that we can block light by placing two polarizing filters at a 90⁰ angle (embodied in every LCD). If electromagnetic radiation had a non-transversal component, light would pass this setup, but it doesn't.
How about a short summary that tackles the main relevant points of the thread in layman's terms and then the long technical explanation inside spoiler tags?
I regret that I wasn't able to make the subject clear enough, but you're quite right, a longitudinal propagation mode would easily pass through those filters (the two polarizations are the two "degrees of freedom" of a massless vector particle I alluded to in the previous). A particle that does have longitudinal propagation modes like the W or Z0 would be able to pass through an analogous setup, but because longitudinal propagation requires mass, this makes the corresponding interaction (the weak interaction) short ranged. If the photon also propagated longitudinally the universe would be a vastly different place.
So to summarise @markus, they are misusing/misunderstanding terms like "scalar energy", "scalar fields", "Maxwell's equation", and Tesla's apparent discoveries how?
Or is it a case of "not even wrong"?
So to summarise @markus, they are misusing/misunderstanding terms like "scalar energy", "scalar fields", "Maxwell's equation", and Tesla's apparent discoveries how?
The various claims associated with the magical properties of scalar fields do of course fall under the "not even wrong" umbrella. What I find unique about this particular subculture is the specific way in which it's realized: there's all these claims about how physicists don't want you to know about this, how it's all been suppressed, how physicists are close-minded and refuse to even consider it, etc. The first time I encountered an advocate in the wild I was tremendously confused. I was like "of course scalar fields are real, we have the Higgs! There's no conspiracy to hide the Higgs. Why are you insisting that I'm trying to hide the Higgs?" It's as if someone were convinced there's a big conspiracy to hide antibiotics, while simultaneously promoting miraculous exaggerated claims like "antibiotics heal broken bones" or "antibiotics cure cancer". It's very bizarre.
There's no conspiracy to hide the Higgs.
that's what I was trying to show in my post #16
the twist here is that their version of scalar EMF , despite having been discovered by Maxwell and Tesla, is not physical:
Article:
Although scalar fields cannot be detected by a standard meter, they are readily picked up by living organisms.
The only studies that can prove that a device actually protects you from the harmful effects of EMFs would be solely focused on the results on living organisms – measuring changes in their health and vitality.
So they live in weird liminal space where they both physically exist and don't: they exist when they're claimed to have an effect, but don't exist when you try to find them.
Which is something they have in common with a con.
