Biologist claims to have studied alien bodies (EBOs - Exo-Biospheric-Organisms)

Anyway, the hoax included some obvious 3D renders of simple extruded and lathed shapes meant to be bits of the tech. This was back when unbiased renderers like early versions of Arnold were becoming mainstream. The lovely blue soft shadows on a a pure white turntable are a dead giveaway. By default a renderer will often supply an outdoor environment with light that creates those exact cool shadows. But back then, radiosity maps and such were very new to the general public.
This is very interesting. Do you have any examples of the 3D renders of the time that demonstrate this effect? It seems like you're knowledgeable on the topic.

The CARET case is something I looked into a long time ago for other reasons and came away confused on a few things. Many think it was a failed marketing attempt by the Terminator series, but I think they denied it entirely and said they were inspired by this, IIRC. But that's probably what they'd say regardless.

The "language" the hoax uses appear to be a font called Zeta Reticuli, created by a guy who also created the WALL-E logo and other fonts, which kind of seems like it lends credence to Hollywood's connection. I emailed him to ask the official date he created his font and whether it had any connection to the CARET images, but received no response. Subsequently, some person claimed that the hoaxer stole their images they created and that the language is their own. Given the first part of this paragraph, this claim confused me.

I do think someone else pointed out that some of the pictures (not supplied by the "Isaac" of the CARET documents) of the alleged crafts were in places that weren't where the alleged poster said they were. And there was something about the holes in the hole punches of the paper not lining up in the scans.

I am curious about the Zeta Reticuli font if you have any further information. When I looked into the CARET case a while ago, I found that a researcher going by Starfire Tor believed they had discovered the origin of the symbols was actually a viral marketing campaign created in 2007 by the Dell computers "Alienware" brand.

UPDATE: In late October 2007, and through November 2007, Dell owned Alienware ran a contest to advertise its upcoming Area-51 M15x and M17x laptops. This contest was advertised as "Decipher the Alien Message and Win a Trip to New York City", and featured the same character symbols as those found on the 'aerial drone' and 'anti-gravity generator' hoax images and objects. With this revelation, the 'aerial drone' hoax has been outed as a viral marketing scheme to advertise the Alienware Area 51 computer laptops. Dell computers purchased Alienware computers in 2006. The alien message contest was advertised at:

[...]

Here is evidence of that contest, which includes photos showing Alienware showing off it's contest using the same character symbols that are found on the hoaxed 'aerial drone' and 'anti-gravity generator' images, plus the same character symbols branded into their computer.

This image shows a page from the fictitious Caret Drone document as presented by the character calling himself Isaac. As can be plainly seen the so-called Aerial Drone written language or symbols are the same symbols found in the Dell owned Alien Ware computer contest "Decipher The Alien Ware Message". See the contest photos below for symbol and letter comparison.

Given that the Isaac / CARET / Dragonfly documents and videos were also released in 2007, I had assumed this identification of the origin of the symbols was correct.

The archived contest page is here from October 2007: https://web.archive.org/web/2007102...e.com/contest_pages/contest_declassified.aspx

The font was actually decoded:

And the secret message for the contest read:

DENIALS AND COVER-UPS WILL PROVE FUTILE ONLY WHEN EACH AND EVERY PERSON CAN HOLD THE EVIDENCE IN THEIR HANDS. SEEK OUT THE AREA-51 M15X AND AREA-51 M17X.

I also found other examples of Alienware computers from the campaign:

This Alienware Area 51 m15x is officially designated for TechRepublic, both in earth-bound English and some form of extraterrestrial language.

Yes, that's the font, for sure. You can download it and type in it. Google "Zeta Reticuli font." You can find the creator's personal site that has lots of other fonts, as well. It's an old-school, self-maintained HTML site, IIRC. But Google for "Margaret Gel Isaac Hoax" to see someone else claim it entirely, which is odd. Dell might've hired the creator or used it for free. IIRC, he doesn't charge much for commercial use. The policy is on his site. Sorry for not providing links, but I've gotten stuff that I hyperlinked with accurate descriptions removed by mods for not adhering to external linking policies (or not doing a good enough job, despite others ignoring it altogether).

It was the Terminator series that allegedly did the CARET thing for the viral marketing, but Alienware just simply used it, I think. Either way, same difference, because that's the font from the CARET stuff, so I consider them hoaxes. No idea if they hired him to create it for them and he just released it after, though. I believe I used the Wayback Machine and the metadata in the oldest font version I could find to show that he put it on his site after something used it, but can't remember if it was Alienware, Terminator, or CARET stuff.

I did match the characters from the CARET stuff with the actual mapping of the font to English keyboard and it wasn't anything worthwhile. The person claiming it was their stolen work seems like BS, though. It's clearly that exact font.
