Welcome Thread - New Members Post Here

Thanks for confirming my membership. I appreciate it. It does look like I will be able to find some intelligent comments in regards to some ridiculous notions being bandied about in the realm of Facebook and other places. Again, thank you very much.

Hi Mick! I have been using your site to provide accurate information regarding fake news and other hoaxes. Don't know why I didn't join up, earlier, my bad, lol. Love your site and appreciate your succinct and right-on reporting! Thank you for the approval. :D

Hello there, I found this site when I was looking for facts behind rotating, "extremely efficient" solar cells, which I thought seemed fallacious. I've read quite a lot of polite, excellently informed and explained debunking here; it reminds me of reading the Fortean Times back in the day. Glad to be here.

I tell people I'm highly skeptical but no one believes me.

Indeed, I never believed much of anything at all until it made logical sense and fit into everything I already believed. As a toddler I was out in the yard looking for Santa's reindeer tracks in the fresh fallen snow on the roof. It was only much later in life that Santa became "real" to me. I dismissed everything my teachers told me.

Twice I had to reorganize everything I thought I knew because I learned something new that didn't fit with existing beliefs.

I don't know how extensive my participation will be here or how extensive since it really depends on the quality and nature of the arguments. I have a very thick skin but most people who call themselves "skeptics" seem to want to gang up and call me names. Part of the problem is my stupid handle; I am no king though I am clad. It's kindda stuck to me at this point.

Of course the message is unwelcome. I have debunked the usage of ramps for building great Egyptian pyramids and the implications are that everything we believe is wrong. These are basic ideas that are wrong like that humans are intelligent or that pyramid builders were highly superstitious. Many of my beliefs have died in the sand in the last several years as well. Perhaps part of the problem is that when you strip a modern person of his beliefs, models, and superstitions there's little left so people won't let go.

I believe the implications of all this are of critical importance and will restore our history and our first science to us.

What an interesting forum. Always good to see rational descriptions.

I'd never realised just how bad the CT people have become over the years

Perhaps someone can help me!

It is about strange spheres, they are transparent like water-bubbles out of the International Space stations.
Which basical category is this topic?

Hi everyone. Found the site, after reading about the chilean "ufo" in a national newspaper, and the work done by you guys in trying to explain things. You do a great job, cleaning up "the mess" of crazy conspiracy theories on the net, and I hope to be able to contribute. I'm also a fan of discussing topics, rather than trolling. I'm also trying to help friends who get caught up in fake news, and teach them how to discover and check for reliable sources :)

I'm a business developer, now working in community development programs locally in Oslo, Norway and doing some writing as well. I'm also following the development in the Hessdalen project with curiosity.

Hi! I am Jeff, from Brazil, and found Metabunk after the Mick West's post about Chile footage know as "Armada Case".

Dear Mick: Congratulations on the superb job you did with the explanation of the possible cause of the objet captured on IR camera by a Chilean helicopter. I am involved exclusively on UFO case resolutions and last year I could (thanks God) explain 100 % of the cases. Even though my latest report is in Spanish I promise to release an English version as soon as my time permits. Wish you the best of everything for this new year and KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB!!. Joined because of the Chilean UFO video. Seems that many people will not take the time to look carefully at something like this. Many answers are not simple and involve some deeper thought. Many people do not like to be confused with details, but that is where many answers lie. Wanted to be involved in looking at the HD and IR video in detail and also because I have training as a pilot.

Hello to everyone! My name is Dragan.

I've been reading many threads on this site about some theories which are popular these days. However, I did not decide to join here to discuss those theories (although maybe I will) but to put some simple observations which I sometimes experience or imagining in my head and have questions about them. Many times I google some unusual questions with no satisfying answers or no answers at all. I'm just hoping those questions get answered before some other interest groups put them to wrong use.

I'm an old newspaperman, worked as a reporter, and then, for the better part of 30 years, as an editor. Was taught my trade by really good reporters editors who never let the story get in the way of the facts. Seems as though facts these days are an endangered species, and this seems like a bastion of fact conservation. Most reporters suck at math. I used to tell my reporters that if you misspell someone's name, that person and their immediate family think we're stupid. If you mess up basic arithmetic, everyone who made it out of the fifth grade thinks we're stupid, so don't mess up the math, we want people to buy our newspaper. Since the newspaper business began going down the tubes, I have been working as a teacher aide in the autism program at the local high school. Love the kids, even when they're driving me to drink, and I tell ya, some days it's a shorter drive than others. Always had a great interest in science and back in high school had the highest four-year average in AP science courses, so Bausch and Lomb gave me a little medal. Still like to keep up with advances in the sciences. Also love history. I argue occasionally with flat earthers and moon landing hoaxers, among others, in the usually forlorn hope that I can drive a few facts into their thick skulls, and because hell, someone has to do it. I built that harp you see me with, one of three I have finished. Now, if only I would practice.

Also in discussions on 911 conspiracies this site has been a very useful source for me.

Hi all,
I am interested in science based discussions on the various controversial topics, mainly 9-11 at the moment. I am a Chem Engineer with an MBA and have worked for technology companies for 35 years now. Just trying to determine what is fake and what is real anymore, seems quite the chore, and not so easy to discuss online while avoiding the usual ad hominem responses. Seems like your format here might encourage intellectual rather than emotional discussion.
Here's to the truth, whatever it may be. :)

I took a look at your English sites. Nice work sir.

Hey everybody!

Hello,
I'm the owner and admin of a long time History forum. Lately I've been hit with new posters who have strange ideas about some things.
I've been looking for counter sources and this site seems to have some of what I've been searching for.

welcome, I'm a bit of a history buff as well

Hello,

I do a show on UFOs, and think it is very important to drain the swamp of the garbage that get's posted on the internet. I think there is really something to the phenomena, debunking is important part of looking into it seriously.

Hi everyone. I'm new here and arrived indirectly because of one Peter Kuzsnir or Peekay 'Truth' on YouTube. I have long grown tired of this man's ramblings about chem trails and wanted to hear the other side because I'll openly admit, I did feel there was something to what I was reading/seeing. My eyes are open now. It's good to be here.

Hi everyone. I'm a skeptic and blogger who seems to annoy true believers on the internet from time to time. I just discovered Metabunk and have just added it to other debunking sites already on my home page. I appreciate sites that do this, misinformation is rampant on the internet. Thanks.

Hi there, just registered here to be able to follow some thread more easily. The latest reason I visited this forum was to read about flat earth debunks. I got kind of addicted to these flat earth stories for amusing purposes and made the mistake to start arguing with some of the flat earthers on YouTube.
I am looking forward to reading more in this forum.

Hello! Been doing alot of researching, due to fact I joined a number of conspiracy theory groups on Facebook and was driven insane. Then i found this site and I feel better now. Great learning curve, so thankyou! Im also a sucker for trying to educate [people] so I need backup... cheers

Hello Everyone,

Hope your all doing well. My name is Jimmy. I am a person that enjoys researching, and understanding the multiple sides to a story. I also like to find facts, that assist me in better understanding the subject. I arrived here while looking at flight patterns that go over the south pole.

Still much to learn, but have learned quite a bit just from your in depth conversations.

Hi all, came here because Metabunk seems to be at the top of every result for any conspiracy related search, so I thought I'd check it out. So far here are my positions coming into this site before any debunking:

  • JFK: There was a conspiracy, most likely CIA who were mad over Bay of Pigs fiasco and also murdered RFK when it seemed possible he might win, [opinion of murders removed to prevent off-topic discussion in this thread]
  • David Icke: Nothing he says is even remotely believable, don't toss me in with that lot.
  • Alex Jones: Is primarily motivated by personal gain, does not truly believe the vast majority of what he spouts but like any decent confidence man mixes in a careful measure of truth.
  • Chemtrails: No, I can't even ... [impolite description of chemtrail believers removed]
  • 9/11: Was an inside job, but not holograms, nano-thermite, tactical nukes, or dare I say directed energy rays. Just a good old fashioned false flag to cause a stir in the hearts of fervent patriots in waiting. Kinda like Gulf of Tonkin, sinking of the Lusitania, Operation Northwoods, Reichstag Fire, Japanese Manchurian railway bombing, you know, along those lines. Cui bono.
  • Sandy Hook: Dunno, it seems really fake to me, but its a gut feeling, my bullshit sensor is ringing seven bells, there are many anomalies, but if I had to pick one as a summary point I would say [bunk claim of "0% injury rate" removed to prevent off-topic discussion in this thread]

Well, enough about me, don't even know why I am doing this, it seems nobody has their needle moved any which way from discussing these things, either you believe or you don't. Millions of years of evolution has conditioned us to trust our own minds over those of fellow men, and possibly rightly so.
