Skinwalker Ranch Trailing UFO (S2 E8)

I would like to start by saying that these days most of History Channel's programing is a bunch of unfortunate bologna. When it comes to journalistic integrity, the History brand seems to have discarded much of whatever reputation it once had...

Recently, however, I've found myself scratching my head over some of the events depicted in The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, specifically in S2 E8 "Shocking Revelations."

In this episode, Travis Taylor describes a lightning storm that he witnessed remotely by monitoring a security camera attached to his trailer back at the ranch.

When the team goes to review the footage, however, things take a different turn...

Rather than capturing any lightning (which Travis swears to have seen on his end of the video feed) something more bizarre appears... The meandering black UFO pictured above is shown moving through the clouds and leaving behind a trail that resembles something out of Donnie Darko.

At first I thought it to be a bug, or a drop on the lens, but the object was picked up by two different cameras positioned in separate parts of the ranch. (See 33:22-34:53) It also appears to be passing through the clouds.

This area's reputation (and the lore surrounding it) makes it difficult to discern what other context should be considered here... For instance, the team repeatedly detect magnetic anomalies and frequencies that seem to mess with their equipment.

My only hypothesis is this could be some sort of "electromagnetic ball" (similar to the phenomena observed in Hessdalen, Norway in the 1980s). That or their long-lost weather balloon from S1. :)

What do you all think?

It looks like a bird, or a wind-driven piece of plastic bag or foil.

The Hessdalen lights aren't black, ball lightning never is, and they're still being recorded, just not as frequently.

Why would a flying saucer ever navigate that erratically?

The context is that of a regular ranch, where some UFOlogists go wild overinterpreting anything they can to titillate their viewers.

I support the theory that this object is nothing more than a plastic bag.

It would be one high-flying piece of plastic to pass through cloud cover, and the wind direction would have been exceptionally wild to produce such a flight trajectory... but it's certainly a possibility.

I am hesitant to label Skinwalker Ranch as "a regular ranch," but I do agree that many of the stories spawned from this area lack sufficient data, or "sensationalize" data to drive an agenda...

You are right that the Hessdalen lights and ball lightning are not black, and would not be suspect here.
