MUFON database case 117196

It is claimed that this video was taken on Aug 7th 2021 in Manhattan, NY, US. There is evidence of what seems to be genuine camera movement and zooming in/out. The clouds seem to go by relative to the object. The submitter claimed to remove the audio as he swore when he/she saw the object! Does this just show that he/she is capable of tampering with video?

Fake or genuine?

Adding a blurry shape to a video is not even remotely difficult. This slow drift and sudden take-off could be done in something as simple as Vegas in 15 minutes. Including removing the audio.

Anyone can make a similar video with a few minutes of instruction.
I'd be glad to demonstrate if you have a base clip of some clouds you'd like me to use, and I'll add a similar blurry flying shape that zooms out of sight.

"In order to effectively catalogue and investigate all these reports MUFON asks that you submit your sighting reports with photos and videos attached. Once you complete the form click the SUBMIT button and your report will be assigned an official MUFON Case Number, and be sent to the MUFON State or National Director where your sighting occurred for follow-up. Your help solving the UFO mystery, one case at a time, is greatly appreciated. Click the button below to report a UFO."

Because how else would you get to operate the largest UFO sighting database? Vetting them first would net a few dozen cases at most, if not less provided MUFON know what they are doing

I recall from watching Captain Disillusion videos that there are often telltale signs the video editing/SFX guys can see in the video to illustrate that it has been messsed-with. To my eye, that is patently fake (the zoom of at the end does not look like an object moving away, to me.) However, "to my eye" is not evidence of anything -- do we have a video specialist in the house?

The hoaxer needs to learn more about perspective and what the shrinking of the object as it flies up into the sky implies about the altitude of those clouds. Or the size of and distance to the object.

'To your eye' is the best judge. Behind your eyes is a supercomputer with years of 'reality' input from which to draw comparison. If it looks fake its because your brain knows the movement is not right, even for something youve never seen before. I agree that the way it moves appears to be 'off' and the way it shrinks into the cloud seems to make the cloud appear out of place, height and depth-wise.

Yeah, in cases like this, it looking fake to.me is enough for ME, but it is not really a convincing debunk to share with anybody else.

Indeed. We must also consider that there are plently of videos that look like faked events but are actually genuine, so my previous comment can only go so far. But our brains are naturally trained to spot the 'out of the ordinary'. Sometimes the tricky part is accessing the specifics of our supercomputer analyses.

The disc doesnt seems to change colour or shadow - nor does it changes in form while its hovering further away its EXACTELY looking the same, the shadows, the form everything it also doesnt seems to be shrinking too. Like its a still thats been moved forward. I highlighted what i mean- its not getting any shadow.Screenshot_20210814-200513~2.png
