In the early days of rocketry, von Braun's V-2 was tested at White Sands. The story I've heard was that one errant failure landed just across the US border in nearby Juarez, where the locals stripped every junkyard of metal pieces to sell to tourists as "genuine rocket parts".
Is that how Jaime Maussan got his start?
