Debunking Humor...

He's just doing what he 'otter.

Domestic turkeys, much like chickens, are a distorted and overfed mockery of the avian form conjured into being by mammal fingers inflicting one final evolutionary insult on the dinosaur.

I never thought much about it, then one day I was fishing with a buddy out on the Sacramento river. Just anchored up drifting bait, when a flock of wild turkeys came down to the shore and after a bit they all just flew over to the other side of the river. I remember thinking, "Huh? I guess they can fly when they need to".

My neighbor raises several turkeys every year for Thanksgiving. The domesticated ones are dumb enough that he has to buy chicken chicks to put in with the turkeys, so the chickens can show them how to eat and drink. Made for a good dinner though.

I was up in the mountains some years back, the rest of the family went off to ride horses, which I don't do, so while they rode I walked down the trail. I happened to flush a turkey hen, who took off flying down the side of the mountain. Of course I have no idea what was going through her turkey-brain (alleged) but the strong impression, as she descended into the valley and out of sight, was that she was trying her best to descend and lend, but the ground was falling away as fast as she could drop. Sort of an "orbital turkey," maybe. Presumably at some point she got to the bottom of the mountain and was able to find flat ground...

There are some wild turkeys in a nearby park, and one resident in the neighborhood found out that they can be very clever. One turkey confronted him, while the remaining four or five in the group edged around all sides, so no matter which direction he defended himself, other flanks were open to attack. After they tore holes in his sweater and drew blood in a few spots, he fled the scene.

I've done a bit of unsuccessful turkey hunting in the past, and the wild ones are very wily with great eye sight and hearing. One has to be in complete camo, face included, and sit very still and quiet. We have quite a few flocks that live around here that are pretty skittish. No one's been attacked yet, but as you say, they are clever.

Oregon sportswear giant pledges to give 'the company' to anyone who can prove the Earth is flat

External Quote:
Are you a conspiracy theorist who has always wanted to own your own sportswear company? Today is your lucky day because if you can find the edge of the Earth and photograph it, then Columbia Sportswear can be yours — or at least some of the stuff lying around its Oregon headquarters.

And as far as what "the company" means, according to the fine print, it "refers to 'The Company, LLC' with assets which are valued at $100,000."

Boyle pointed out some of those assets, like clothing samples, a copy machine, a stuffed deer head and even what appears to be a decommissioned gondola, in a walk around the Columbia's offices.
Not Columbia Sportswear itself, but The Company LLC, which owns $100,000 worth of random stuff in their warehouse. The stuff listed sounds pretty difficult to liquidate so really you're providing free garbage removal services for them.

That's why I posted it under 'humor' instead of Flat Earth.

My favorite part of this is saying "Western Australia" with the same energy as "Tempe, Arizona." Western Australia is huge. Not Texas huge, it's more like US time zone huge.
I nearly jumped in and corrected you, until I read past that comma. Yup, indeed. Indeed, indeed:

Huuuuge and empty, population of approximately 3 million with 2.3 million in the city of Prrth.

Well I guess I just missed out on all this kit:

Just to be clear on what I missed:

The kit includes the following:

- P-SB7 Spirit Box, which transmits EVPs live in the white noise between FM and AM frequencies. Includes boom mic, headphone outputs, and manual.

- MK08 Meterk Electro-Magnetic Field (EMF) Tester and manual.

- K2 Meter EMF Detector

- Sony ICD-B500 Handheld Digital
Voice Recorder

- Flashlight

- Kit case with strap

- Free 4-pack of AAA batteries
I can probably find a flashlight and some batteries out in the shop, but not a "Spirit box"

Well, they've got the audio side covered,

If you're transmitting EVPs, there must be a better chance of detecting EVPs
(electronic voice phenomena, Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voice_phenomenon)

But the producers of this kit have failed to follow this incontrovertible logic in the visual realm, which might reduce the probability of seeing a ghost.
The flashlight looks like a Mini Maglite which is an excellent little torch, but the experienced ghost hunter knows that other lights offer a much improved chance of spotting a spectre:

I mean, if you're going to transmit EVP, you might as well project ghostly images. EVP gets heard, ghosts get seen, everyone's happy.

The Sony ICD-B500 Handheld Digital Voice Recorder is the audio companion to the potato camera. If you want the audio equivalent of a fuzzy blob (i.e. record 220-3200 Hz), ensuring that sounds like f-s-sh and p-t-k will be indistinct, allowing for some amount of the audio version of pareidolia, then don't use your phone to record audio, use this. (256 MB!)

Please don't question why they offer a "boom mike", but no boom, the boom being the defining feature of a boom mike.

The P-SB7 offers "AM/FM Selection: Toggle between the AM and FM radio bands using the 'AM/FM C/F' button. The device is capable of scanning frequencies from 76 MHz to 87.9 MHz." Compare:

I assure y'all, to a sound technician all of this is hilariously funny. :-p

To someone who's worked in comms almost his entire life, I even find the concept of "shortwave radio" being separate from "AM" bands hilarious, as SW is almost always AM. Heck, even VHF can be AM (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gonset_Communicator ). That image is confusing medium with payload. As is the material it was a response to, of course.
