I think almost everyone can improve their sensitivity to others and trying to get you to recognize that you have room for improvement. Their anger was compounded due by a false rumor at the time that Lifsh was intoxicated. A breath alcohol test administered within 70 minutes of the accident indicated this was not the case. Other false rumors circulating shortly after the accident included: Lifsh was on a cell phone, Lifsh did not have a valid driver's license, and that police prevented people, including Gavin Cato's father, from assisting in the rescue....
Later that evening, as the crowds and rumors grew, people threw bottles and rocks. At about 11:00 pm, someone reportedly shouted, "Let's go to Kingston Avenue and get a Jew!" Neither ONE of men you mentioned HAD anything to do with the riot and killing of Mr Rosenbaum. Al Sharpton did say some nasty things at the funeral of the black child. It seems that the neighborhood where that happened decided to work together and to move past it.

The folks that denied that the target on Gilford's photo had anything to do with her shooting, seem to have something in common with Sharpton.

It seems that the person that did the crime was suffering from mental illness (he had been on of the street vendors) and the loss of his 'job'.

It seems to me to be in the same class as blaming guns for shootings. The ultimate responsibility is with the person that decides to do wrong.

Why does the concept behind political correctness produce a negative reaction?

There's two meanings to the phrase to my mind.

Firstly, it means to practice sensitivity to the different groups of people that make up a society.
To think culture is made up of one dominant group with lots of lesser groups that don't have to be payed any regard is the behaviour it seeks to change by increasing awareness of the unexamined prejudices inherent in the 'dominant' culture and increasing basic familiarity with difference so it doesn't produce an automatic reaction against the 'strange'.
It seems the phrase 'political correctness' doesn't really accurately reflect what the intent is here, but it has come to be associated with this sort of awareness campaign (perhaps a negative propaganda technique by groups who feel marginalised by empathy).

Opportunistic 'political correctness' (which is perhaps the more accurate use of the phrase) is insincere lip-service payed for political reasons - to APPEAR tolerant and empathic. That's worth being bothered by.
Increasing our knowledge of the situations of others isn't.

It seems more like resentment at being shown a truth that one would rather ignore.
And pointing out that others suffer unique forms of oppression that you don't doesn't mean no-one thinks you don't suffer your own, it's simply drawing attention to them.
It's in the context of bringing awareness to something that was assumed didn't exist that is the point.

Because the advantages you have now are built upon the oppression of others - you are benefiting from actions that these days would be seen as immoral and illega.

I understand your point but everybody before us has not had the advatages we have today . Its not just the great inventors its our ancestors of all colors .
