Exclusive New York City "UFO" Footage

I'd be curious if anyone could identify what this footage from 2010 is footage of, given that the footage is from a news camera:

It's also on YouTube:

My best guess is that it's three tethered balloons moving in the wind, slowly becoming untethered as they're blown about; but they don't stay in the same position relative to each other in the way I would expect tied balloons to do, unless they are unraveling as they float away.

My honest reaction upon first seeing it was, if that wasn't recorded by a national television broadcasting crew, I'd think the zoomed in part was CGI or something. That might be because the white balloons (if that's what they are) look illuminated in the sunlight at the start of the video.

Here's another one that made the rounds in Denver on KDVR in 2012:

I'm more curious about the 2010 video, but would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts about either.

What was the date? What were the wind conditions on that date?

My unsupported guess would be tethered balloons in turbulent air, too.

Probably the Chelsea ufos. October 13th 2010 between 11am and 2pmish.

Although officials could not confirm what the celestial objects were, skeptics believed the balloons were part of a tourism promotion event held on Broadway in Times Square for the centennial of the Madrid's Gran Via on Wednesday, which included the release of several bunches of yellow balloons into the sky.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo, explained, "Unfortunately for the advocates of 'I want to believe' what they saw on the 11.00 (New York time) were not UFOs, but dozens of yellow balloons that the City of Madrid had dropped in Times Square in a campaign to promote tourism on the Gran Via, which this year celebrates one hundred years."

A Westchester elementary school class also came forward Thursday claiming the balloons were from an engagement party the children held for their language arts teacher Andrea Craparo. A parent was walking to the Milestone School in Mount Vernon when the wind took away a bunch of white balloons intended for Craparo.

it wasnt. your video says "obtained" which means someone gave it to them.
CBS News obtained footage of mysterious glowing orbs floating over New York City which some are calling UFOs.

Your second video breaks too many posting guidelines for me, personally, to bother with it. esp since your first video looks exactly like balloons, no offense.

ie. 1 claim per thread 2. you give no still shot, no timestamps, no dates, or other info.

ps. Westchester [elementary school suggestion] could of course have balloons still stay low enough to Chelsea but its pretty far away. at least 20-30 mins by car from Chelsea. where as Times Square is like 20 city blocks give or take.

After close examination it appears to be balloons. Maybe the aliens are disguising their ship to look like balloons? Never can tell.

The Denver video looks like bugs to me.

That second one I remember. It's flying insects. As a matter of fact there was a part of this that's cut off. The reporter, live in the studio, said, rather stridently, something like ... "many people have contacted us saying they're bugs, they're not bugs."

The reason they appear after noon is because these ectothermic creatures are warming up and becoming active about that time.

Here it is, by cracky...

The difference is that this is the local news, and the clip in the OP is from when the story went national.
