Clouds in classical art

One of the claims made by chemtrail believers is that clear blue cloudless skies were the norm, not the exception. My recollection is quite the opposite, I remember clear blue skies were the exception rather than the norm. Another claim is that various cloud types, particularly undulatus and storm clouds, are proof of weather modification.

While visiting the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC today I was reminded and in awe of all the examples of clouds in classical art. One would be hard pressed to find any classical art involving landscapes that do not include clouds.

Fortunately the National Gallery provides many images of artwork online. A search for "landscape" returned 1,267 works of art. I thought this might be a useful resource for the more open minded to see clouds in classical paintings.

Blue cloudless skies ARE the norm here in Los Angeles. But they certainly were not when I was growing up in the UK. A cloudless sky was a thing of great rarity, a cause for celebration, dancing, and picnics.

Besides clouds, one things that the believers tend to point out is the white haze, particularly towards the horizon, like in this 1830 painting by Alexandre Calame

Or this 1770s watercolor by Moreau

John Constable

In addition to the full-scale oil sketches, Constable completed numerous observational studies of landscapes and clouds, determined to become more scientific in his recording of atmospheric conditions. The power of his physical effects was sometimes apparent even in the full-scale paintings which he exhibited in London; The Chain Pier, 1827, for example, prompted a critic to write: "the atmosphere possesses a characteristic humidity about it, that almost imparts the wish for an umbrella"

I began to put together a bit of a list of antique images that document numerous cloud types that CT ers claim must be caused by chemtrails or Haarp.
Have a browse through these, I think most of the links still work:

In 1941 the National Park Service commissioned noted photographer Ansel Adams to create a photo mural for the Department of the Interior Building in Washington, DC. The theme was to be nature as exemplified and protected in the U.S. National Parks. The project was halted because of World War II and never resumed.

The majority of photos in this collection have clouds in them, including many from the desert southwest.

Some of the photos include cirrus and cirrostratus...

Check this out - the first realistic painting of Halos and Sundogs...

Seen over Stockholm in the year 1553

Vädersolstavlan (help·info) (Swedish for "The Sun Dog Painting") is an oil-on-panel painting depicting a halo display, an atmospheric optical phenomenon, observed over Stockholm on April 20, 1535. It is named after the sun dogs (Swedish: Vädersol, "Weather sun") appearing on the upper right part of the painting. While chiefly noted for being the oldest depiction of Stockholm in colour,[1] it is arguably also the oldest Swedish landscape painting and the oldest depiction of sun dogs.

The original painting, which was produced shortly after the event and traditionally attributed to Urban Målare ("Urban [the] Painter"), is lost, and virtually nothing is known about it. However, a copy from 1636 by Jacob Heinrich Elbfas held in Storkyrkan in Stockholm, is believed to be an accurate copy and was until recently erroneously thought to be the restored original. It was previously covered by layers of brownish varnish, and the image was hardly discernible until carefully restored and thoroughly documented in 1998–1999.
