A "Molten Metal" 9/11 Photo - Is Just Burning Paper

Alan Chin Photo Paper molten metal.jpg

So it looks like AE911Truth has been incorrectly using another photos for many years. I noticed this by accident when looking at a similar photo posted yesterday for the anniversary of 9/11:

I saw the above (right) 9/11 thumbnail image on the NBC News home page, and it immediately reminded me of this image on an AE911 web page. https://www.ae911truth.org/evidence.../442-witnesses-of-molten-metal-at-ground-zero (http://archive.is/2BsNB)

Here's the AE911 image:

Then this coinicidence prompted me to do a Yandex image search^, which led me to a better quality version, the original by Alan Chin, https://www.readingthepictures.org/2011/09/pushpins-on-a-calendar/ (http://archive.is/mtyWY)

Subtitled "Approximately 11AM, Broadway and Liberty

And here's the similar NBC Image:

They are probably the same collection of column cladding and paper taken at slightly different times.

[UPDATE] The location of Chin's photo has been identified as Liberty and Church, one block away from the above image, which looks like Liberty and Greenwitch.

Here's the location of the Chin photo:

I wonder how many "suspicious" photos might be solved if only we were able to example all the photos that are held in private collections.

Doing an overlay of the two images, the orange one is slightly skewed. So the simplest explanation for the original bad image is that it was photographed from a book — this also accounts for the bad white balance.

I had always seen nothing but burning paper in that image.
Burning something, and probably paper, given that it's surrounded by paper. Me too. I discussed it five years ago, even in the orange photo there's enough info to dismiss the "molten metal" claim.
Photo colors are vastly dependent on exposure, relative light balance in the scene, and film type. Here I've adjusted the levels so that the fire engine lights are less washed out.

It's odd that AE911T use this as the headline image to illustrate their page on the topic.

I'm curious about the listed location of this photo. It seems possibly too far from the towers for so much cladding? I'd like to track it down to see if we can find any other photos or video of the same spot to clarify the issue

Broadway and Liberty is about 800 feet from the South Tower (WTC2).

Liberty is the street running East/West

The distinctive points in the image are:

The damaged, but not crushed, fire engine:

The multiple sections of aluminum cladding:

Paper and dust:

A building facade, old fashioned, with distinctive arched windows and some skinny trees.

This appears to be here:

Which would actually put him more towards Trinity and Liberty, looking south across Zuccotti park

This is quite a bit closer.

Zuccotti park, formerly Liberty Plaza Park, has a few photos online. There's a famous one of a statue called "Double Check", photo by Jeff Mermelstein

And another:

Another view showing the windows and trees

Engine Company 212 report says hydrant at "Liberty and Chruch Street.
Yeah, Liberty and Church is Liberty and Trinity - the street just changes names.
The windows and trees make it a perfect match. That "Double Check" statue was about in the middle of the park.

You'd have to be pretty inventive to figure our how molten metal got all the way over there. I think the Truthers though this was on the street below the towers.

More photos would be good.

Here's the park, a few days after. It looks like Engine 212 might still be there. Something covered with dust anyway.

I've marked the approximate position of Chin. Also marked the aluminum cladding that landed on the roof over the road, showing debris was falling from above in that general area.

Panorama of the area. Fire engine is on the left, more in the background.

Note that while it's the same pile of cladding, it's not the same fire, but still the same basic thing.

hard to tell, but its black and flatter there. kinda looks like he just put it out with his shovel. and the white smoke coming up from Chins fire that could just be blocked from view due to the angle. I'm amazed how squished these photos can be as far as squishing distances. The fire truck is way further back then I would have thought and I'm aware of 'forshortening' (it's called right?) of camera lenses.

Time-wise at 3:25 in the above video there's a clock saying 12:30, so the previous video would presumably be before 12:30

There's also footage with WTC7 still standing (5:55), so obviously it's on 9/11 (hence the fires).
