Since the comment system on Contrail Science is of very limited use, I'm going to close the comments there and instead provide a link to Metabunk.org

In anticipation of that, I've renamed the "Chemtrails" forum "Contrails and Chemtrails" (in keeping with "Science and Pseudoscience", and "Health and Quackery").

I think naming it contrails and chemtrails is a mistake, in that they are one and the same. Whereas "Science and Pseudoscience", and "Health and Quackery" is meant to distinguish between the two items.

You mean because "chemtrails" is not a negative term, like "Pseudoscience" or "Quackery"?

I though "Contrail Science and Chemtrail Pseudoscience", but seemed a bit long.

Some options

A) Contrails and Chemtrails

B) Contrail Science and Chemtrail Pseudoscience

C) Maybe Contrails vs. Chemtrails

D) Contrail Science and the Chemtrail Theory

E) Contrail Science and the Chemtrail Conspiracy Theory

I vote C. . . . Contrails vs. Chemtrails . . . simple. . . says it all and would come up on Internet searches for both inquires. .

Oh I see - you mean because what people point to and say "chemtrails" are usually contrails?

My suggestion is having the title contain "contrail science" somewhere in it as it is a direct tie to the other site from which the commenters will be coming from.

Will they still have to register here to comment? that may reduce quite a bit of the drive by comments that CS seems to produce

Yes, they will have to register. It did not really slow down the flow of comments after I turned that on last week.

perhaps not- but those were commenters here already- I am thinking of the person who arrives at CS - gets all huffy at all the "disinfo" then posts a vitriolic screed on all we are all blind sheep and need to "look up"- if they have to go to a different site and then register it may diffuse their immediate need to set us all straight.

But maybe thats a good thing :)

I think it is. It's very rare that the fly-by posters have anything to contribute. They usually bring up the same old "evidence", then several people debunk it, but they never respond. So forcing people to register cuts out that time waste, and we only get people who are slightly more engaged and will actually enter into a dialog.

And, there are several new commenters here since the forced registration.

It's been five and half days since the forced registration on April 21st, in that time:

78 new users registered, some of which may be spam users.
31 of these new users left at least one valid post
15 just left one post
16 left two or more posts

So I think it's going fine.
