Welcome Thread - New Members Post Here

Hello people.. I like debunks now because I used to believe in conspiracy theories for a couple of years, so I know it's not healthy for people. Used speed (methamphetamine) in those days which made me stay awake for 5 days and nights sometimes, so of course that had influence on my brain.
So basically I think Mick West is doing good work.

Hi gang, is this how to post? Just reply to the original in the Welcome Thread? Some interesting stuff here and love UAP's where are we on the Arizona Lights?? Just epic

Welcome newcomers!

@Alebaba
Not needed to reply in this thread. But many take the opportunity to write a bit about themselves, but is of course not mandatory. I am here for a while now and what gives a user more credit is by participating in civil and sane discussions and try to help to "solve" a case. So, this means we have a large variety of users and their expertise. For instance there are many experienced FX specialists here, and also many pilots, (old) army people and what not.

Have fun!

Hi, I’m DaveisFine a new member keen to find facts about common conspiracy theories.

Hi all,

I'd like to post a video for you to dissect.

I'm not sure I can do that though without making a few random posts like this?
Stephen

Hello Everyone! So recently i had posted on reddit inquiring about any more serious site where people discuss the topic of UFOs/UAPs and someone had suggested this site. So far so good! I'm looking forward to getting to know this community and just enjoy researching and Hearing what others have discovered as well.
P.S my apologies but I'd rather not give out any personal info until I'm better acquainted with the community. I hope y'all can understand thanks!

Hello from Holland, a couple of days ago I was looking for a specific item hidden in one of the boxes filled with memories of my life which started 57 years ago. In my search I came across a note which was written down by myself on sunday 12 january 2014. On that clear sky day, between 16.20 and 16.40, I saw the coming and going of a contrail which impressed me so much that after the curious phenomenon diasappeared I immediately took a pen and paper and wrote down what I had seen. What a pity I did not have a camera with me. Eight years later the note brought back that event almost as clearly as the time I had the privilige observing it. What power and speed was this? Not able to find an answer which could satisfie me, my personal investigation turned into a cold case. After reopening it, research brought me here. Let's see.

Hi all - I am an academic researcher interested in understanding more about climate-related and narratives and alternative narratives.

Thanks and take care -

Hi everyone.
Although I find myself slipping into conspiracy thought. I like the work you're all doing here. I hope to join in, in solving some of these mysteries.

Hi, l am Interested in finding out if there is any evidence for global dimming.

Hi all. I'm curious what kind of discussion is possible regarding mass UFO sightings/events, particularly those that occurred in the predigital age.

Hello all, after several years and many contributions to the German forum Allmystery.de I have today also joined here and will occasionally contribute when time permits to do so in parallel. I have always read Metabunk as a preferred source for critical and serious consideration of numerous UFO and "skeptic" topics and, like Mick's YT channel, like to bring it into discussions and debates as a reference.

Greetings all. Amateur astronomer here, anything and everything about outer space I can't help but get lost in. I've studied UFOs and other strange space phenomenon for over a decade, and highly agree with this website's stance on bringing science to what is actually being seen. Having 4 years now behind a telescope lens, I have seen things that at first looked very odd but quickly become reasonable with the right lens and focus. I believe I could help with this website's function and benefit from being a member. I look forward to helping how I can.

Hello, I just joined. I discovered this site while searching for flat earth debunks. Great site! Cheers

Hello from sweden!
I just heard some interviews with mr West and found him to be a breath of fresh air in the UAP/UFO-discussions.
I feel like there is not enough skepticism when i read or listen about this stuff (like interviews on JRE), albeit all very interesting.
Cheers for Mick West, keep doing your thing!

Hi everybody. Old Scottish retiree here. Used to believe it all but not since my undergrad Zoology days. Evidence is everything. I do wish some of it was out there, though - maybe not the alien visitors so much, but a cryptid or two would be nice. Love the site and the necessary resources it provides. Thanks!

My name is Wes. I am an aerospace engineer, old enough to think Galaga is cool, and a giant Mick West fan. I grew up in a time when conspiracy theories were mostly harmless and often entertaining. Back then there was usually a great deal of societal and practical filters applied to such notions. Subscribing to them took real work, and that thankfully reduced their spread. The internet has removed these filters, and now such rot is among its most common currency. When I discovered Mick's excellent Youtube videos debunking the laughable "Pentagon UFOs" I was deeply saddened but jadedly unsurprised at the small amount of views. While I worry that the war for critical thinking may have already been lost, perhaps sites like this can make a difference,

I applaud this site and all of you. I and am happy to be a member!

Hi, my name is Leonardo Mantovanelli (Luigi Rovatti is not my real name). I live in Italy. I actually work in a thrift store. I'm interested in UFOs, conspiracy theories, and computers. Really, anything about these things. On a theoric level (ie, not with much practical experience) I like mahjong, poker, logic and mathematics. Also, trading (but this REALLY don't wanna do).

Hello everyone, I'm Zoltan; Hungarian-born and a US Air Force veteran.

I'm extremely intrigued by a number of topics, mostly UAP, since the age of 7 or so.

I'd like to meet and perhaps collaborate with others that have high-end PC work-stations with 4K/8K video enhancing software.

I look forward to reading and contributing to these forums.

Hello there. LiteShaper here. I am professional cinematographer and editor with over 30 years in the film industry. I am alarmed by the degree and influence of conspiracy theories on the internet and have a photographic interest in the merits or non merits of UFO videos.

Hi, I’m James. I have had an interest in UFOs since seeing one of the infamous black triangle UFOs, back in 1998. Still haunted by the experience and get anxious looking up at the sky because of it. Other interests include writing and performing comedy, films and filmmaking. Thank you for having me.

Hello all, my name is Thiago Gasparino. I am Brazilian, and still live in Brazil.
I have a BS in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Digital Signal Processing, although I don't work in that area currently. For the past 8.5 years I have been working as a Forensic Expert for the state of Mato Grosso, Brazil. I currently work on crime scene forensics and also do some lab work, but I am to be moved to the audio and video forensics team next year, as I have a specialization in that area.

I have been a member of Susan Gerbic's Guerrilla Skeptics on Wikipedia team since 2016, but am currently on a hiatus from editing WP for personal reasons.

I hope I can learn a lot from this forum, and maybe even help folks figure stuff out.

i found a great way to deal with several conspiracy theorists in my life. they know i don't care to hear their stuff but they persist in spouting it off. i no longer say anything in reply. nothing. i'll sit there. i won't even look at them. i try hard not to laugh or smirk or make negative faces. instead i just try to wait until they say what they want. and then after a while i hope they'll start talking about something else.

this has saved me perhaps three hours of time and wasted effort - nothing i say will change their minds and i do not care to argue with them. they are relatives or friends which i cannot avoid contact with (even if my preferences want that).

though i must also say that i failed in part the other day when someone mentioned how our state has mostly blue people in office now (i politely and quietly applauded, but i'm not sure they saw me) as i was genuinely happy to preserve the rights of women to get abortions in our state and for the doctors to not be prosecuted for helping them get the care they wanted. i was also very tempted to ask them if they'd seen any purple or pink people... (i like purple and pink)...

Hello, I’m Tony Adams, a designer and web developer in Houston, Texas. I’m most well known as the Astros fan who listened to all the 2017 Astros home games to log the trash can bangs they were using to steal signs.

That meant absolutely nothing to me - but it sounds like dedication and dogged determination, and I applaud such qualities wholeheartedly!

An Astros fan named Tony Adams published data that he collected from watching 58 Astros home games from the 2017 season and listening for banging noises. He found evidence of the trash can banging on 1,143 of 8,274 pitches thrown to Astros hitters, hearing the most instances of banging during the at bats of Springer, Beltrán, Bregman, and Marwin González, and the fewest instances during Altuve's at-bats.

What brought me here was the Calvine UFO. As for me, I am a jack of all trades, master of none, but I am a good critical thinker. Years ago I visited this website to inquire into some controversial stories, looking for a different opinion.

Hi everyone,

I'm Bob, I live in New Zealand, retired health professional ( I retired in July this year after I turned 80 - it was time to go). I'm also a semi-professional photographer and researcher of my Irish clan. I found this site in a Google search looking to debunk some of the disinformation about Covid and vaccines. And yes, I did find the information I wanted here so thank you to the contributors. I'm on a discussion board here in NZ and it is a hotbed of conspiracy theories so I'm looking forward to finding answers here that I can use to challenge the disinformation. I'm also concerned about Climate Change and some political matters such as what I perceive to be a growing distrust of elections and the conspiracy theories around them.

John Cook has a site i like, it might be dated a bit. i dont know if he's been writing on it the last few years or updating anything, but he has different "levels" of debunks for people with less or more understanding of the science as the science is a complicated one.

Thanks, Deirdre. I just had a look and it seems to be active and up-to-date. Their Facebook page is also active, with posts in the last 24 hours. I'll have to do some more exploring.
