Spielberg's "Disclosure Day" pre-release Speculation

The Leader of the Senate (Palpatine) creates a narrative that an enemy (The Trade Federation and Separatists) are banding together so he creates a Clone Army (See Episode 2 Attack of the Clones) to fight them which leads to the creation of The Empire.
Also in pop culture, there's the famous Watchmen comic series from 1986-87 by Alan Moore where the villain Veidt plans to stage an alien invasion to stop a looming nuclear exchange between the United States and Soviet Union -- at the cost of half the population of New York.

Riffed on in The Incredibles (2004) where the villain Syndrome unleashes his monstrous droid on the city of "Metroville" so he can show up, save the day (with his secret remote control) and finally be recognized as a hero.

I will say, without spoilers, I liked it, a bit. 6.5/7 out of 10.
"Arrival" still is my favourite alien movie so far (for the modern ones).
I would love to talk about the ufo lore about it, but doing so without spoilers is difficult.
If you have non-spoiler questions, you can ask me! Or wait 2 days?

How much of the movie is taken up by heroes running toward some goal and trying to beat the clock?
My guess: 5 percent

How many bad guys do a face turn and join forces with the heroes?
My guess: 2

How many peripheral Wise Characters are there who quietly say something very wise about life and the nature of reality?
My guess: Tough. At least 1 and as many as 3. I'll settle on 1.

How much of the movie is taken up by classic Spielbergian quiet, charming slice of middle class American suburban life, which is in dramatic contrast to the chaotic action later on in the film? Likely involves one very young child.

My guess: About 3 percent.

Well David Icke has seen it and... thinks it's a psyop.

What you see in DD is a sympathetic portrayal of non-human activity...the aliens don't have empathy and are telling humans that they need to have empathy or the world will continue the way it's going.
This movie will trigger a lot of interest in the alien presence, a misdirection of what is happening - our reality is a simulation that enslaves us (yes, there is a non-human force manipulating humanity and that is what they don't want you to know)
He calls it a "a very cheesy story".

It seems that Greer's theory is: A secret faction within the military-industrial complex intends to fake an extraterrestrial threat using advanced human technology in order to increase militarization and political control, while concealing what he believes is the fundamentally peaceful nature of actual extraterrestrial visitors. ... I guess
The fundamental flaw with his theory is the same as the flaw in the idea that the US faked the Moon landings.
Unless every nation with the capability to debunk the plan is in on that plan they will be able to easily debunk it.

I donated blood today so I could get this shirt to wear to Disclosure Day this weekend.

I suppose feeding the aliens a blood ransom will work for a while… But what when they get really hungry? If you give an alien a pint.. Soon they'll want the whole keg? I suggest feeding them skeptics. Lottery. Mick might keep them happy for a year or so.. Eventually the aliens will drive those trucks. Turn 'em into food trucks.

I've looked at a lot of reviews...

Same things come up in the negative reviews:

Too much clunky exposition. Breaks the 'show don't tell' rule.

Takes itself very seriously but doesn't really have anything to say. Cliched, sophomoric stuff about meaning, empathy or religion. (The Seventh Seal did it better in 1950 something.)

Repetitive cycle of... Get chased, talk about how confused we are, and then get chased again. Apparently there are four separate chase scenes.

It's basically a Roadrunner Cartoon without the humor. The bad guys have these super advanced gadgets but they f'up for no reason.

Recycled Spielberg content, such as the slender bug eyed design of the Aliens, and old fashioned attitudes. Big agreement on main stream media being portrayed as too important.

There is no disclosure. Just teasing. Characters wonder what will happen to human society... but nothing happens.

All agree... It's a script failure. Acting good, cinematography good, lousy writing.

Now, my major beef. The idea that "disclosure" would be this huge mind fuck and there'd be mass hysteria. Dogs and cats living together...

What a load of crap.

It would become the new background noise of daily life. People adapt to terminal cancer and having their city firebombed. Jimmy Kimmel would be making jokes about how lame the Aliens turned out to be within two weeks.

You think people would start doubting their religion after all the other things that don't make sense about their religion? They'd just compartmentalize. As usual.

The Aliens don't have a religion? Or have a different religion? So what? You mean like different human societies already do? We'd just try to convert them.

The Aliens have all this advanced tech? Well, if we've learned anything it's that humans don't adapt to new technology...

There'd be Alien Tech unboxing videos and reviews on YT...

Religious people would be asking "Can we convert the aliens to our religion?, Did they bring any missionaries with them?, What is their religion like?, Has Jesus visited them too?" No, the arrival of aliens would be seen as an opportunity to evangelize the aliens!
I suspect the Vatican has a team of theologians already identified to engage with any Aliens that might land.

It just seems to be the age old thing. My religion is so obviously true, and important, and just better... it's just got to be so obvious to you that your religion is Brand X.

Disclosure is a religion and they think other religions would be in trouble somehow even before the Disclosure. Because it's just so obviously true that Aliens are hopping around Earth already. I mean so obvious.

Just wait, my Gods are going to open up the skies and reveal themselves upon the world. That'll show you. Yep, any minute now...
