Two pilots flying a private jet over Ohio were left stunned after spotting a mysterious metallic object resembling a giant pill near their aircraft, only to be told by air traffic controllers that nothing unusual was showing on radar.

Flight Crew observed a metallic cigar shaped object pass off the left side of the aircraft approximately 5nm away at FL430 while the aircraft was at FL410. Object seemed to be almost standing still or slowing down while passing the aircraft and the object was clearly visible as a solid cigar shaped standing on its end with no visible lights. At first it was thought to be a weather balloon but was quickly ruled as not. Air Traffic Control(Center controller) was contacted and advised the flight crew that no weather balloons or other aircraft were in the position that the object was located. After passing the object it quickly disappeared behind the aircraft and out of view.

Pilots are still being instructed to report things to a private civilian organisation with some apparent bias in it's investigators.

Possibly a solar balloon, but larger and more reflective than usual? Solar balloons are cylindrical balloons heated by the sun, and are often about ten feet long or so. They are usually thinner, and black. Maybe a solar balloon at 42,000 feet would swell and become fatter, but the balloon would need to be made of tough stuff or it would burst.
