Nibiru FOUND? Mysterious gigantic rogue planet spotted lurking outside our solar system

Thus claims UK tabloid and conspracy fan gutter rag The Daily Star, the article continues...

A MYSTERIOUS large object has been spotted floating around outside our solar system – and people are convinced it’s a huge mystical alien world called Nibiru.
Doomsayers have long thought that Nibiru – or Planet X – is hurtling through space and will appear in our skies this year.

The planet will wipe out most of mankind, believers warn.

NASA has thoroughly debunked the myth – but some claim this is a cover-up to stop people panicking and save space in protective bunkers.

And the recent discovery of a rogue planet outside our solar system has sent conspiracy theorists into overdrive.

In the first radio-telescope detection of a planetary-mass object beyond our solar system, astronomers found the strange celestial body has 12.7 times the mass of Jupiter.

And to certain extent it is true. Astronomers using the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array radio telescope have discovered a very large rogue planet beyond our solar system. The object, called by the catchy title SIMP J01365663+0933473 is about 12.7 times the mass of Jupiter, was first detected in 2016 and has now been officially confirmed after two years of study using the aforementioned VLA radio telescope.

However the object is 20 light years away from our solar system and is believed to be heading in a direction that will not take it anywhere near us. To be fair the Daily Star article does touch on that fact, but buries it several paragraphs down under a load of Nibiru is coming hysteria.

However astronomers are getting very excited about SIMP J01365663+0933473 for a number of reasons. It is the first 'rogue' (ot associated with any star system) planet discovered and confirmed by radio astronomy, it appears to be very dense, only 1.2 times the size of Jupiter compared with its 12.7 times mass, has a magnetic field 200 times that of Jupiter and is a very strong radio source. What is more, due to its size and surface temprature, about 825 degrees Celsius, it is possible this object marks the boundry between a super Jupiter type gas giant and a brown dwarf proto star.

More, factal information about the object can be found here.

However in a nut shell, although this is a very important and exciting discovery that will go a long way to advancing our knowledge of the universe, this is in no way the ficticious planet Nibiru, that the conspiracy people predict is about to hit us almost every week, its a 20 light years away, thats 117,572,507,463,672 and a bit miles, is not heading this way and is no threat to planet earth at all.

SIMP is a pretty cool object regardless. If it's consistent with other gas giants, the radio emissions are from aurora, but with no parent star, it can't have traditional aurora. It almost certainly has at least one moon with tidally driven volcanic or cryovolcanic activity. It's been proposed as a whole new class of system - one without a parent star but still with a source of energy capable of supporting life in the right conditions. And that's much cooler than Nibiru or Nemesis ever offered.
