There was a partial eclipse some years ago, and I taped a section of foil from a potato chip bag over a microscope slide, then taped it over my binoculars. It worked remarkably well.Yesterday, at around 3:30 pm, I remembered the partial solar eclipse was coming, and I hadn't prepared, so I nipped inside and knocked up some solar glasses (picture below). It took about 5 minutes to find where I'd stashed the Baader foil and then about another 10 minutes to tape them over some old glasses, after removing the lenses.
