"Black Beam" Contrail Shadow, Sunshine Coast, Australia

I'm AFK at the moment, so can't contribute much. But the suggested flight sounds plausible.

I have just been for my morning beach walk and stood in the spot I was that day, the whole perspective thing changes everything. Even just changing my position from on the shore to further away from the shore, put the sun up a bit higher, imagine the plane coming at that angle NNW or whatever it was, it is a definite debunk. And the angle the plane flew, the height, the haze would also account for the pulsing effect I guess. Oh to always be able to see in 3D. Good one guys if I get 2D thinking again I know where to come. Now I will go over to the contrail threads and clean up the tiny bit of 2D thinking I have with that, it is only minimal but needs addressing. Thanks once again.

Where would the laser beam be coming out of? What does a laser beam look like?
Laser beams tend to be invisible, unless your looking straight into one. (not recommended!!) The only way you get to see them otherwise is when they pass through stuff like smoke which scatters some of the light from the beam, or when they hit something solid in which case they show a point of light on the thing they hit (the sniper laser sight 'red dot' so beloved of Hollywood action films is a good example of this)

Lasers and smoke - note they are only visible where the smoke is

(This is a picture of AJ Pearse bassist with my band - thanks to Jeff Sparkes for the photo)
