Welcome Thread - New Members Post Here

Hi everyone. I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm 53 years old. I'm an evangelical. I love philosophy and apologetics and clear thinking. A lot of evangelicals are tripping all over conspiracy theories. I found out about Mick searching for books on the subject. Found his rabbit hole book and his podcast and now this page.

Some of these subjects I'm pretty new to. So I don't necessarily know all the parameters the views.

Chemtrails is one I'm looking for good info and rescuing folks from. Looking forward to reading and interacting and learning.

Mick, thank you for your commitment to these topics.

Hi, new member. Name is Mike, I reside in NJ. I am a former mufon investigator. I have since quit them and started my own group and my interest is uap unexplained phenomena. My professional job is a Microsoft Systems Engineer for a local MSP. Been in the IT field for 28 years, and dabble in Electronics, anything that I can build for skytracking, small form factor computing, like Intel NUC and Raspberry Pis. I run some video and image analysis software that I review my own items to try and debunk what I had observed. I hope to be a valid contributing member. Thanks.

Hi everbody,

I've been reading MB for quite some time now, mainly as a sort of intellectual entertainment.
I really admire the tenacity, attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile of most forum members.

Also developed a deep love for SF in my childhood, so my interest in the whole topic could maybe best be described as watching a real life telenovela. About UFOs. With popcorn.

Hello, first post here. Just a small story about the New York ufo/balon. I did similar calculations on its speed. I approximated the plane location at the start and at the end of video, got 500 km/h plane speed, and 1m object size.

Posted it on reddit r/UFO, and got downvoted to oblivion.

Hey Mick, I was thinking for the sake of sheer entertainment, and benefit to humanity, of course, it would be kind of you to eat some humble pie and be the one to contact Joe Rogan. Be like "Joe, invite me back on. We don't see eye to eye but things are a tad stagnant lately, let's insert some ice cold contraversy into your audience's circle sphincter".

Anywho, hello world!

I exchanged a few DMs with Joe a couple of months ago. I told him I'd be happy to go back on to give the skeptical take on UFOs. So it's up to hom.

Cheers. I came across your 'break down of the Pentagon videos' in which I thought you had a excellent take on possible explanations. I've been a fan of the late Martin Gardner when first read "Fads & Fallacies in name of science" - an old book which unfortunately is still relevant today in a sea of bunk.
Mr. West, I love your efforts and hope it gets more needed attention.

Hi,

I've been lurking here for a while, but wanted to make a comment in one of the forums, so I registered. I like what Metabunk does and really admire how some of you can pinpoint just what planes, stars, and satellites are visible given a time and location. Me, I can track planes and that's about it.

Greetings!

I am a retired astrophysicist from Minnesota interested in promoting science and critical thinking. I am also active with the Minnesota Skeptics meetup group. For what it is worth, my score on the Generic Conspiracist Beliefs Scale was 1.13/5

I didn't know there WAS a Generic Conspiracist Beliefs Scale! :)
Just took it, and I also got 1.13/5.

Howdy fellow debunkers! I found this site researching (debunking) SWR claims of the worm hole in the middle of the triangle based on the LIDAR data. After seeing the video that Mick created debunking the LIDAR results, I knew that I found a place to hang out with like-minded folks and contribute where I can. My background, I am a director of cybersecurity for a fortune 200 organization. Before my current gig I was a DOD contractor supporting All Domains Homeland Defense and USAF SAP projects. I have seen in person the actual entrance to the Stargate Portal inside Cheyenne Mountain - (it is a door to a janitor's closet). I have a MS in Systems Engineering. Lifelong interest in science, space, aviation and amateur radio.

Hello guys, I'm new here, do you have any tips for beginners like me?
Not sure what you mean here -- any tips for doing what?

(In any case, a discussion of that in this welcome thread would be somewhat off topic, if you wanted to find a forum that matches the topic where you are looking for tips, maybe start a thread there? Something in General Discussion or Chit-Chat might be best, or Practical Debunking if your question seems to fit there...)

All that said, welcome aboard!

Hi. Power & Prosperity to the People. Citizen Journalism. Prosperity from the individual up, not the corporation down. Enough and to spare.

I am, as was recently said by a few people of social influence, not a flat or globe earther, I've simply left the cult of science... This leads me, fully acknoledging, to my natural mistrust of mainstream "science" esp. in regards to medical "experts" and "science".

I want to prove to myself the earth is round, but it has not happened yet to my satisfaction for reasons I want to challenge myself and get help by other patient people here.

It's geared toward simple concepts and tests that most people can do for themselves.

Science isn't a "cult", but the most reliable way humans have ever found to understand our world and predict the behavior of things. Science has given us planes that fly, cars that drive, vaccines to save our lives, telephones to speak to distant friends, electricity in our homes, the internet through which you posted your introduction ...and a million more things that our caveman ancestors never imagined.

Hello,
I'm here to contribute and explore ideas. I have a keen interest in investigating the unknown and seeking reasonable explanations. Although I have never seen anything supernatural or of alien origin, nor have I encountered any evidence of such phenomena, I remain open-minded.

Here is a real photo of a ghost dog:

Hi. Found this site when looking to debunk some of the depressingly prevalent 'chemtrail' posts that have started polluting my Facebook newsfeed lately. There was a time when that was mainly populated with the day-to-day shenanigans of people I know and care about but for the past three years has descended into wave after wave of fear-mongering BS. The Facebook posts inevitably descend into flame wars and insults - which I steer well clear of - so it is really refreshing to find a site where the discussion is respectful. I look forward to exploring the site further.

Q: Does certain criteria have to be reached before I can post an avatar, or will that happen when my account is approved?

Hi, I'm Stryder. I've enjoyed lurking on the site for a while. I was attracted to the site originally by Mick West's analysis of the Navy videos. Having worked for a defense contractor (a long time ago) and helping to design and build a number of electro-optical sensors for various branches of the military, I was very impressed with Mick's straightforward approach. He nailed it. I hope to add some perspectives from my varied background that will be relevant to the site. It looks like a great collection of talent is represented here.

Hi, everyone. Seth here, from Ohio. I believe I discovered Mick's work via Twitter/X, became a fan and now I'm here.
