Excessive moderation for the Varginha thread (and posts deleted)

The moderator Landru started giving me warnings for every post I made, and deleted my content and others. He is clearly exceeding his role as a moderator. If you read that entire thread, every single post made aims to discuss what could have been (aliens? a monkey?), and there is not a single violation I have seen (from myself or others) in there. So we are forbidden to discuss it could have been a baboon with alopecia? Why? If this was what happened (and what the girls saw), the Metabunk forums forbid any discussion hinting at the possibility, also based on the animal traits, witnesses description, etc?

If that's the case then the entire thread became useless, that Landru person has no idea why online boards exist.

This is a discussion forum, people are allowed to voice their opinions within reason, there was no flood, spamming, people cursing each other, etc.

@Mick West needs to review what this man is doing, no one is going to feel free to post here anymore, if every single post will be censored for no valid reason.

For example, one of the "warnings" said:

- Metabunk is about examining specific claims of evidence. Please avoid creating new claims via speculative or subjective interpretation of partial information.

The entire case is about hearsay and anecdotal evidence, in case you haven't noticed. There is not a single shred of evidence, and it is the same for a million other UFO / alien stories. Or do we have pieces of spaceships now?

Saying it could have been a known animal (monkey with alopecia) helps to hint it wasn't that man (other members claim it was). It's a reasonable argument, because it aims at the physical traits the girls told us all along. The very assertion (from the military / others) it was SAID MAN (Mudinho), or any man, is also speculative. Where is the proof? There isn't any. No proof he was covered in mud, that he was there at that exact location and moment... nothing (and the girls knew him).

What kind of posts are allowed to be made, then?

So if you remove my posts (and a few others from members), you are only allowing the speculation that fits the narrative you like.

I though Metabunk was a serious place to engage in serious discussions, but thanks to this Landru individual (with his Reddit mindset to reject everything he doesn't agree), all I see ever since his intervention was censorship and the end of that thread subject.

I may not like some comments made here, you are not going to see me advocating for their removal and attacking their authors. Do it for the argument, not the person which is posting.

Weather or not I am with you or with the moderator(s), is it not better to DM them and discuss it privately?
This is a feedback area, and he didn't just took away my posts, he deleted others that replied to me, too. If there's any doubt, see it for yourself. There are 4 messages he sent me, one for "not meeting posting guidelines", one for missing EX/article tags, another for guidelines and the last for excessively speculative post.

For a case that is 1000% speculative, where are the "receipts", where is the scientific evidence for it? Voices from multiple people's heads is what you get for VARGINHA, so don't talk to me about "not guessing" what the creature was. There are entire UFO channels that lie and grift about everything (with no proof), if this event bothers him, then just close it for further questioning. There was not a shred of content in that particular post that violated anything here.

Since when this place became all 1984-ish? What he did was a complete joke. I sure hope whatever this man did gets reversed and the posts are returned, otherwise feel free to delete my account right now if they will continue to be in that status.

I don't tolerate "Reddit-behavior" anywhere I go, that aims to just allow bits of a discussion to exist, while inconvenient opinions are not "included". When that happens, as George Carlin would put it, the end result is that we are watching a "big club", and we are not part of it.

A baboon that is not indigenous to the area being misidentified as an alien is the height of speculation and does not belong on a site for serious discussion. Throw in a speculative case of alopecia and you are getting silly.

Yes.
that Landru person has no idea why online boards exist.
Landru knows why Metabunk exists. We examine claims of evidence. We are not a platform for creating speculative claims with no basis in fact.

That's not correct. The posting guidelines set a higher standard than that.
no one is going to feel free to post here anymore, if every single post will be censored for no valid reason.
The same policies have been applied for years. Some people didn't like it and went elsewhere, others stayed.
We're far from "every single post will be censored for no valid reason", but new members sometimes feel that way until they understand how Metabunk differs from other forums.
What kind of posts are allowed to be made, then?
The Posting Guidelines are linked from the menu bar.

Generally, if your comment contains evidence, or analyses evidence that has been posted in the thread, it's good for the debunking section of the site.

It is not a good idea to ignore the evidence that has been collected in the thread, and simply post an improbable speculation based on some cherry-picked details.

we have had similar speculations from MB debunkers in other threads. Possibilities of animals escaping from zoos, lab animals escaping etc.

it is absolutely not the height of speculation (especially compared to what we have seen in other threads). I've seen much worse speculation from debunkers and so have you.

Chupacabras have LITERALLY been identified in Texas as previously unknown hybrids (coyote and dog) with severe mange. DNA tested and everything.

Why exactly are you picking on her over a baboon guess?? You really should apologize for that one (and likely the others as well).. because it was a good comment.

The same policies have been applied for years.

yes, the same double standard policies have been applied for years.

edit add: the moderators tell me they dont actually read MB ( and i actually believe that), so they dont really know of all the infractions and speculation and impoliteness going on all over the place.

The difference my lie in the "been identified...DNA tested and everything."

THAT level of evidence would, I think, amount to proof. I would not think there would be a requirement for THAT level of evidence. But some evidence would be nice.

so if i speculated that BEFORE the DNA test i would rightfully get a warning strike?

the only evidence for louis? "Modhindo"<i forget his name... is that he has been seen there before and he crouches. no evidence he was there that day and as pointed out the description doesnt match and the girls allegedly knew of him already so would know what he looked like.

Not sayign it wasnt him, just saying that is speculation and total hearsay (that he's been there before) as well.

From me? No, but I might ask you to post evidence to back it up. If you continued posting about it while refusing to put up any supporting evidence, at some point yeah, I might tell you to cut it out. (This is, ironically, speculative, as I am not a moderator here. I have been one elsewhere, briefly, and I understand from that experience that there is a difference between what I might think I might do as a mod and what I would actually do as a mod when I actually had the responsibility. )

No, but I might ask you to post evidence to back it up.
That a hybrid animal is a thing? That dog like animals can get severe mange?

I think now i'd rather get teh warning strike, and then i can rub your face in it when the DNA tests come through :)

(PS if the rules of evidence applied to EVERYBODY on MB, then that criteria would be fine. But they don't, so it isnt)

Hey, you get DNA tests that chupacabras, aliens or Island of Dr. Moreau hybrids exist, I'll hold my face still and at the perfect angle so you can rub that in to your heart's content! :):D

Hey, you get DNA tests that chupacabras, aliens or Island of Dr. Moreau hybrids exist,
they arent chupacabra hybrids. they are what people thought were chupacabras in Texas (they seem to look much different in Puerto Rico, which is why i keep saying Texas). But it turns out they were hybrid coyotes with mange.

It might turn out that the varginha alien was actually a monkey type species.
