Would you LIE for money?

A scientist caught in a lie, LOSES everything they have ever worked for. They will not be employable as a scientist, they might be able to teach in a High School or maybe a Community college. Their career is as over as Lance Armstrong's is, and they never got the glory he did.

It seems to me that saying that the 'experts are being paid to lie', is the last gasp of someone that realizes that the facts don't support their belief system.

Do you have evidence of scientists being paid off?

It's a ridiculous statement. While SOME experts might be paid off, there are other experts that will expose them cause then THEY will have the glory. Piltdown Man, anyone?

Joe, please pick out a segment of that video that you want us to address. You're Gish Galloping, and I'm not going to write a full dissertation on the bunk found in that 30 minute video.

I'd rather Joe tried to prove there is an NWO.

European Socialist is what your country is . You people love being controlled by government probably drive crappy little cars and live in tiny little houses . Maybe Agenda 21 is harmless to your country that produces what ?? Keep your nanny state Ill keep my Freeedom .

I said some not all . Like politicians there are many that I believe are lying . Its called money and people will lie . They have to feed themselves as well dont they ?

You sound like such an "ugly American". My goodness, Joe, why are you so negative?
I know I'm probably going to get "edited for politeness" but I don't know how else to say that.

Wow. I really don't know what to say to this. Joe, I really recommend you actually make an effort to travel overseas and see how life REALLY is outside U.S. borders before you make factless statements such as that.

No I have a friend in England who lives in a tiny little house has a crappy little car , says the healthcare he thought he would need in his elder years sucks . Those are his words . He wants to move back to the states . We also have relatives in italy one is a doctor who makes about as much as a manager in Mc Donalds and has to run a side business at his house just to have a somewhat normal life . They too drive crappy little cars their country is socialist on the verge of collapse like . Europe is just slighty ahead of economic collapse then the United States and if it werent for Germany they would have already collapsed . Third world immigration into all those countries have only made matters worse . If I was wrong with what I said he could reply back to me and tell me i isnt so . Im a ugly American ? Your just a troll who trolls around your fellow citizens facebook accounts acting like your a dude . No wonder I left that crappy State of New York .

Now now chaps. Quit it with the insults. I know you're all friends, but still.

Joe. I've got lots of family in England, they are all doing fine, they are very happy with the health care system, and some of them are very well off. Individual anecdotes don't tell you much though. How could you find out what the quality of life was, per country?

Sure theyve always lived there . He lived here for many years and see the difference . Is is from Manchester but now lives outside of it . More like brothers and sisters that fight all the time :)

I'm from Manchester (Withington and West Didsbury), I've lived both here and there for many years. I stay here because I'm married and the weather is nicer. I'd prefer the UK health system. Cars are smaller mostly because the roads are smaller.

But again, anecdotes. How would you go about finding what the quality of life was?

Except for the "better world" part of it, which is kind of the key.

Undoubtedly theists believe they are making a 'better world' as well. I think it all in the eye of the beholder.

But as I stated before, clean cheap energy has to be a priority so perhaps it is only a difference in concept of how to achieve this that separates anthropomorphic climate change believers and skeptics.

What was up with your mocking the plight of polar bears then? You dispute they are facing any problems?

Finland is governed by a right-of-centre party in coalition with another party to make up the numbers. Not that it matters much, I'm not Finnish. The reason I listed those other countries is they are places I've been living in before I arrived in Helsinki. Enjoy your freedom to be killed on the whim of your elected leader, to be bugged by Federal agencies, to have squads of armed police invade your home, to pay the most exorbitant medical fees on the planet, etc. etc. This 'Freedom' you love so much seems to be being whittled down with every passing year.

And I'll continue to enjoy the fact my child is in the best education system on the planet, virtually no medical bills ever, the cleanest indoor air quality in the world, one of the lowest rates of violent crime in the world, and a taxation system that is much fairer and more equitable than anything you could possibly imagine.

I loved it a few year ago, when the Finish PM attended a state occasion in the dress of a Viking age Finnish woman. That is CLASS !

There have been 2 female Finnish Prime Ministers, but that was more likely to have been the popular Tarja Halonen, who was President from 2000 to 2012. I saw her hopping off a tram a few weeks ago, with no security detail. She's also fond of heavy metal, apparently.

So I can't tell you you were finnish before you started? Damn!

Quite. I think the 'freedom' bit needs some inverted commas there, A. Isn't it absolutely amazing how effective the US home-spun propaganda is? 100 channels of permanent bullshit blizzard takes its toll. The society of the spectacle and the end of literacy. Mind you, all of us commoner westy shlubs are ruled by fascist states masquerading as democracies, it's just a tiny bit more subtle. But the US is fascism openly on steroids, its psychopathic corporate gangsters-in-charge propelling the world through war after war for resources and dominance and personal profit; the US is Rome and we are its satellites - and Rome will burn, Nero is picking up his fiddle - we should all strive to buck the idea that the only thing we learn from history is that we don't learn from history (even though it is the very lowest form of truth).

....Oops, this isn't the docks....wrong meeting.....freedom? For Patriot Act read Enabling Act

Some theists do make a better world; they're not all evangelistic profit seeking idiots. I reckon there are many good theists.

I take my hat off to you. Having made some lengthy sceptical argument here it takes balls to offer an olive branch.

I think you're absolutely right to say clean cheap energy is the target, and it's doable - but effing urgent, O. Where's the will? I completely undersand your problem with such bollocks as carbon trading and all that profiteering, it's enough to make anyone suspicious, but I think there's an unfortunate conflation of that side with the real facts of the changing climate. Whether we have any ability to alter the path is debatable, but the only decent option is to try. It's the least we can do to make some atonement, perhaps, for our wanton, avaricious apery.

Cheers

btw, it's anthropogenic!! the other means 'human-shaped'! I've done it meself! x

Where did I say we were free ? Ill agree on most of your points . Agenda 21 is just one more nail in the coffin for what little freedom we have left . we have the progressives to thank for the loss of our freedom . You act like we should not be worried about Agenda 21 when we really have no idea what the end game is . Creeping Islam will destroy Finland enjoy it why you can .

Isn't it interesting, we hear a lot about Islam is growing, but little about how atheism is, even though it is growing faster than Islam.

It is unfortunate that some have made Agenda 21 into a 'big bad monster', instead of what it is. A plan for sustainability on this planet.

Activists, some of whom have been associated with the Tea Party movement by the The New York Times and The Huffington Post, have said that Agenda 21 is a conspiracy by the United Nations to deprive individuals of property rights.[4][20] Columnists in The Atlantic have linked opposition to Agenda 21 to the property rights movement in the United States.[20][21] A poll of 1,300 United States voters by the American Planning Association found that 9% supported Agenda 21, 6% opposed it, and 85% thought they didn't have enough information to form an opinion.[20]

I didnt know there were any Radical Atheist that wanted you to convert or die ? SURE A NICE PLAN FOR SUSTAINABILITY ? Did you know Government now owns 1/3 of the United States ? Dont worry as long as the Democrats are in control you have nothing to fear :)

Most Muslims don't either. Only a small number of RADICAL ones. Have you ever sat down and chatted with a Muslim?

It was implied in this bit
Keep your nanny state Ill keep my Freeedom."

Creeping Islam, me arse. Pam Gellar and her ilk are just as bad as Rush Limpdick and the rest of the fearmongers.

Yes I do chat with Muslims almost daily . Some of the nicest people Iv ever met . I just havent heard of too many Radical Christians or Atheist .

That old racist chestnut. Presumably you've never heard of the fundamentalist christian GW Bush - he had a word or two with God, apparently - oh yeah, and his pal, that commie son'bitch Tony Blair, too. A brace of lying mass murderers responsible for the deaths of millions of innocents, and the misery of millions more. And you've got the bollocks to talk about 'creeping Islam'? Don't suppose it's ever occurred to you that these people might just have had enough of your country destroying their countries and stealing their resources? Or are the military just spreading 'freedom', US style? You need to apply the same standards all round. Your views are pretty offensive, where did you 'learn' that shit? The University of XBox?

Or here?

Except the last word, apparently.

Yes, but it is all a question of perception.

I take my hat off to you. Having made some lengthy sceptical argument here it takes balls to offer an olive branch.
Lol, I don't see it as inconsistent, I am only restating what I stated previously as early as post 27:
Obviously the cleaner the energy and the cheaper the energy, the better. I like geothermal energy and most people do not 'want' pollution. I also like the idea of tidal energy.
No one really WANTS pollution do they? But we do want power and the change over needs to be done sensibly.

Interestingly enough, the U.S has inadvertently met the Kyoto CO2 targets

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/04/05/usa-meets-kyoto-protocol-without-ever-embracing-it/

New EIA data shows USA inadvertently meets 1997 Kyoto protocol CO2 emission reductions without ever signing on thanks to a stagnant economy. Lowest level of CO2 emissions since 1994.

Yes I am concerned about the 'pay to pollute' scam and also my concern is with people like Jazzy who say, 'panic panic.. the sky is falling in... turn off the power, it matters not that people die'. There is no proof that 'climate change' is being adversely affected by man to significant degree, it is even possible any affect may be beneficial. Climate has always changed and why do we suppose it must stop changing at this exact moment. It is ridiculous.

That is not to say that clean and safe energy should not be actively pursued. I think, as previously stated, viable cheap and safe power has been suppressed. Tesla was not allowed to bring it to reality. Huge amounts of thermal and electrical power are available naturally and I believe could be harnessed. And no, I cannot prove it.

What idiots build nuclear power stations on fault lines and where they are susceptible to tsunamis? Nuclear power is not safe. It is open to accident and sabotage or simply direct attack.

What was up with your mocking the plight of polar bears then? You dispute they are facing any problems?

I like polar bears. I love lions and tigers and hippos and whales and all animals. What I don't like is people lying and saying that if I send £3 a month, I will have adopted one. It is like buying a star, complete rubbish and a con.

Polar bears are used to swimming, they can do it for days on end and swim hundreds of miles. It is normal. They did not miraculously learn how to do this in the last few years or decades... they have always done it. This is a blatant misrepresentation of the facts the same as showing film of glacial calving and claiming it is the end of the world.

I thought this site was supposed to be against bunk?

Now you can say... 'oh but it is getting worse'... but that would not be true. It is simply change and is normal. Some people believe that the Arctic has had numerous 'ice free' or 'very little ice' periods.

If the polar bears have to move, they can move exactly the same as other animals migrate and move around. Polar bears and Grizzley have even mated where there wanderings have overlapped.

If, it means turning off the power and allowing millions of people to freeze to death IN CASE it inconveniences a few polar bears... well?

On the clean, sustainable and cheap geothermal energy, it seems it should not be beyond the wit of man to convert this to energy as they do in Iceland which generates 25% from geothermal.

New technology allows energy conversion from lower temperatures.
http://www.renewableenergyworld.com...t-opportunity?cmpid=GeoNL-Thursday-May10-2012
With energy created from a 205°F resource, Beowawe confirms the technical and economic feasibility of low-temperature electricity generation. It uses new binary expanders that allow the use of lower resource temperatures for geothermal and waste heat applications. An axial turbine using R134a and R245fa as the primary working fluid, covers gross power output from 500-kW – 5.0-MW output with temperatures from 200 – 500°F (97 - 260°C).

meaning the possibility of extracting economically viable energy from existing mines/boreholes comes closer to reality.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TauTona_Mine
The TauTona Mine or Western Deep No.3 Shaft,[1] is a gold mine in South Africa. At some 3.9 kilometers (2.4 mi) deep it is currently home to the world's deepest mining operations.
The mine today has some 800 km (500 mi) of tunnels and employs some 5,600 miners. The mine is a dangerous place to work and an average of five miners die in accidents each year. The mine is so deep that temperatures in the mine can rise to life threatening levels. Air conditioning equipment is used to cool the mine from 55 °C (131 °F) down to a more tolerable 28 °C (82 °F). The rock face temperature currently reaches 60 °C (140 °F).

And someday it may happen but for now it is not commercially feasible in an industrialized country and / or one located in a geographically unsympathetic area. Take a look at what sustains Iceland's economy. Take a look at Iceland's location re geothermal sources. Take a look at Iceland's present financial state. Now tell me if you think that can all be commercially extrapolated to most other countries and / or even if, under present conditions, that would be desirable.

It is only worthwhile extracting heat from the crust where it is THIN.

But there's much more power to be had from extracting energy from (well, pumping thermal energy into) the cold ocean deeps via OTEC technology.

And also the energy we use is 300% wasted (we use 25%) by our failure to retain and recover the heat we've already made.

And finally, we don't need that much energy. We certainly don't need to turn the Earth into an oven to get it.

The means to our salvation has always existed. We have to break our oil habit. The will has yet to manifest itself.

It's not much fun living with people who have just committed suicide, people about to commit suicide, and more people who are waiting merely to do the same sometime later, or shovel their crap on their children.

I'm all for raising the value of life, myself. How about you?

Those people would still be eating sand if we didnt exploit their resources . Now they are some of the wealthiest nations . Bush And Blair Christians ? About as much as Obama is a Christian . Millions ? Got any facts ? I don't think we should have ever gotten involved in the Middle east . iraq was wrong . Afghanistan we will never accomplish anything . Lets not forget Obama's Egypt , Libya , Syria ,Yemen , Uganda . Guess you haven't heard of Londonistan either since thats what it has become . I think they are causing the creeping Islam our own governments that doesn't mean it doesn't exist . Islam is the perfect religion for Control of its people and I believe IMO it is the goal . Its my opinion and I am entitled to mine and you to your . If you think they are offensive the Tough Sh!t deal with it . Maybe your name is offensive ? I guess MAO and Stalin were pretty Radical atheist .

"Yes, but it is all a question of perception".

Is a flat contradiction of the state of play. Just prove that...

it is even possible any affect may be beneficial.
Effect.

All earth's living systems have evolved SLOWLY over time, and only some of the single-celled lifeforms are capable of sudden adaptation. They will be OK. So your statement IS correct. But is it useful?

Climate has always changed and why do we suppose it must stop changing at this exact moment. It is ridiculous.
? It is changing more rapidly now than it ever has in the past, except for when it was subject to massive vulcanism and asteroid impact.

Such events involved between 50% and 95% MASS extinction. As the predator at the top of the food chain, you will be the first on the list.

BUNK is by its nature unprovable.

? It is changing more rapidly now than it ever has in the past, except for when it was subject to massive vulcanism and asteroid impact.

Did some research. Interestingly, enough credible "evidence" can be found to support 1) Global Warming. 2) Global Cooling 3) Global Warming slowing. 4) Global Warming accelerating. 5) Global Warming exacerbated by humans. 6) Global Warming caused by external factors such as solar activity. You pays your money, you takes your pick. Apparently there have been six or seven rather large and rapid temperature perturbations in the history of life on this planet. Not all resulted in mass extinctions nor were they all caused by volcanism.
