Chicago Skyline from Indiana Dunes, 33 miles away

This is my first IR image taken with my new camera of the Chicago Skyline form Indiana Dunes 33 miles away. Call it raw data if you like, but it really falls under the category of art.

Nice Photo!

Any idea how much of the buildings are below the horizon?

Mick, That slide compare is a neat trick, thanks for creating it.

To get an idea how far away I was from the skyline, these picture were taken with my camera phone.

Can you give more specifics? Height from which you took photo and camera configuration (primarily focal length)?

The IR photo was taken a bit lower down on the beach side of the same hill, around 50 to 75 feet above the water I'm guessing.

Lens was zoomed to 210 mm. (35mm equivalent 315 mm) Video was cropped, so does not match the original focal length.

It was the combination of the high contrast black and white setting with IR filter that really brought out the details.

The skyline was just as visible standing at the waters edge.

I'm amazed how well the google earth image matches the real photos.

Focal length gives me a sense of angular scale, assuming a certain format of sensor. I was curious how zoomed in it was.
The field of view is about 2.25° in the crop I posted above. About 900mm equiv, so must be around a 1/3 crop of the original.

Seems like an ideal location for someone with an IR modified P900/1000
