I might just drop my balloon hypothesis after seeing your recreation. The original video still looks like a real object to me BUT, the effect is pretty similar to be ignored.

Sundogs sometimes look rectangular, depending on the shape of the cloud that they appear inside. The 'no definable borders' characteristic is particularly indicative of a sundog, circumzenithal arc or some other parhelia phenomenon. -

I think it's not easy to replicate, after all, the original video was shot from an altitude of 20,000 meters. Standing on the ground versus being at high altitude, the angle relative to the sun should be different？ -
