War.gov/UFO - Department of War Releases UAP Files - 2026 Release 1

If one was expecting photos of aliens from Zeta Reticuli and flying saucers at the Skunk Works, then yes. If in fact none of that stuff exists and the DoD is just tossing out whatever they have, then maybe it starts to make the people clamoring for Disclosure look a little shady.

IF there is no evidence of UFOs, and by UFOs we all know it means aliens in this context, and various people in Congress or the administration insist on releasing evidence that doesn't exist, this is what we get.

This dump is UFOlogy in a nutshell. Some old hoaxed photos, some old stories and some videos that are a bit confusing to the average person. But, there is nothing of actual substance to support the idea that the US government, and/or its defense contractors, has been systematically, for many decades, collecting, maintaining and reverse engineering alien space craft.
It's dots with every form a recorded data redacted. I would at least expect something closer to the pentagon videos of Elizondo. I mean, why do they even archive clips like this, and why rerelease old stuff? And this is supposed to be just the first drip of millions of documents.

Well, I think the star looked interesting at least. I guess that is something.

I've spotted a couple of errors in the descriptions and related MISREPs (originally in the DOW release)

PR-28 — Greece, January 2024

The United States Central Command submitted a report of an unidentified anomalous phenomenon (UAP) to the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) consisting of one minute and five seconds of video footage captured via multiple sensor modalities aboard a U.S. military platform in 2024. An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D7, described the UAP as "diamond-shaped" and moving at approximately 434 knots. The observer also reported that the UAP was only detectable via short-wave infrared (SWIR) sensor.

Video Description: The screen is split into two viewing areas for the first ten seconds of the video, with the right side displaying electro-optical footage and the left side displaying SWIR footage.
00:04: An area of contrast becomes distinguishable against the background in the center of the right frame.
00:10: The display shifts to a full-screen view of the SWIR feed to better focus on the area of contrast.
00:55: The area of contrast remains generally within the center of the sensor field-of-view. The area of contrast visually resembles an inverted teardrop with a vertically linear trailing mass suspended below.
00:56: The operator switches the sensor modality to visible spectrum, losing the subject against the background.
00:57-01:05: The operator switches the sensor modality to SWIR (Black-Hot) but does not reacquire the area of contrast.
  • DOW-UAP-D7, Mission Report, Arabian Gulf, 2020(MISREP) A U.S. military operator reported observing a UAP, describing it as "look[ing] like a balloon." The report describes the UAP as "traveling with the winds at approximately 31,000 ft." The visually tracked the UAP via onboard infrared sensor. [blurb]
The correct Mission Report for PR-28 is:
DOW-UAP-D25, Mission Report, Greece, January 2024 - (MISREP) A U.S. military operator reported observing one UAP, estimating its speed as "approximately 434 knots (499 mph)". The observer described the UAP as diamond-shaped, with a non-maneuvering probe at the bottom. The observer noted that the UAP was only visible when viewed via an onboard Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) sensor. The observer reported that the event occurred over a duration of approximately two minutes.

Edit: removed one of the corrections, because it was also wrong!
Edit 2: The other MISREP wrongly referenced is:
PR-29 — United Arab Emirates, June 2024

AARO (NORTHCOM, IR sensor, 2024, 21s). An accompanying mission report, DoW-UAP-D8, described the UAP as consisting of an object with a vertical pole or bar attached to the bottom of the object. The observer also reported that the UAP may instead be a reflection from an object in the water.

Video Description:
00:00-00:21: An area of contrast visually resembling an inverted teardrop with a vertically linear trailing mass suspended below remains generally within the center of the sensor field-of-view throughout the video.

  • DOW-UAP-D8, Mission Report, Djibouti, 2025 (Mediterranean Sea) — (MISREP) A U.S. military operator reported observing two "white hot UAPs." The reporter estimated the UAP's speed as approximately 240 nautical miles per hour (276 mph). [blurb]
The correct MISREP has a wrong description, showing a date of October 2023
DOW-UAP-D27, Mission Report, United Arab Emirates, October 2023 Correct date: June 2024
GLOWING HOT SPHERICAL UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT WITH A VERTICAL UNWAVERING CYLINDRICAL POLE/BAR ATTACHED ON THE BOTTOM OF THE OBJECT POSS REFLECTION 1FROM THE OBJECT IN THE WATER, MOVING AT 140KNOTS

There are more duplicated reports with wrong descriptions. So be aware of that when trying to relate videos to other documents!!

I'm thinking specifically how this fits the old pattern relating to UFO-transparency. This will not convince anyone, only make people angry and annoyed with all secrecies and games.
We have long realized that no "disclosure" will satisfy the UFOlogy crowd unless it reinforces what they already think.
No disclosure? Angry response: "They're hiding stuff from us!!!1!
Disclosure? Angry response: "They're hiding the GOOD stuff from us!!!!1!11!"

I know, it's comforting for people with an evidence-free fixed opinion to have a one-size-fits-all canned answer, so they never have to contemplate the possibility that the government simply doesn't have any compelling evidence of alien visitations and their own presuppositions are wrong. I can't help thinking that mommy should have told them "no" more often when they were young.

All sensors have a LIZ
What is a LIZ?

I'm sure experience and training helps people using IR devices or examining IR imagery to become more accurate at interpreting what is shown, but it is still a matter of interpretation, and it is perhaps more difficult than interpreting visible spectrum imagery that we are much more familiar with, and which is so much closer in nature to our own primary sensory modality.
While I don't doubt this, it still doesn't explain to me why these cameras need to be of such bad quality. Of all the videos posted in this thread, there were many moments where it was very difficult to distinguish whether or not the camera was moving, tracking an object over land or sea, or the object it claims to be tracking had vanished entirely into the slurry of smeared monochrome pixels.

I'm just trying to understand the military's logic in using such poor quality optics and equipment, and why they continues to put up with it. Granted, I have indeed seen IR footage that is of a decent FPS, and doesn't look like it was recorded by a camera from the mid 20th century, but even then, details are lost and it might be still hard to distinguish what is even being observed.

The US Military has more money than God; these videos shouldn't be the best they have, regardless of what the object(s) in these videos are.

What is a LIZ?

It is the Low Information Zone, its a part of the range of images that a sensor can capture, just well enough to determine that something is there, but not well enough to determine what it is. This is why unidentified objects are often captured with advance technology sensors- we think that they are so good that that they should be able to capture high quality imagery of anything at any range, but all sensors have a limit.

What if it is great equipment, but the UAP is so far away that even the best equipment cannot resolve it well enough to see what it is or get a sharp focus?

These are not the best they have -- the best they have show clearly that what is being imaged is a balloon, or a bird, or a drone, or another plane. The best they have don't get released in a dump of images of things that are unidentified, because you can see what is being imaged well enough to identify it.

So what about the ones that are close enough to be seen well, and show aliens spaceships, why do those never get released?

A possible reason is, there aren't any. You can get some really nifty structured UFOs/UAP from civilian sources, because civilians can hang a model from a string and take a sharp picture, or can toss one in the air for a photo That's much, much harder to do with a camera or imaging system attached to a fighter plane or reconnaissance balloon or other piece of military gear, plus you can get in more trouble for doing that!
