Another UFO from a Reddit thread, notable because we have times/locations/flight numbers etc, the video and pictures are a bit spread out in the thread, video attached and link to gallery below

Object filmed from aircraft
From time and location posted by OP it is most likely flight ABX957 at ~6:07 UTC 27/3/22 a Boeing 767-300 (Cargo)

3d 767 (maybe not quite the exact same model) here https://veer.tv/photos/running-bulls-1054

OP says object was 60 degrees down at 10k feet, but the images seem to have the object in the top corner of windows, can be hard to tell exactly what is going on. This photo does not look 60 degrees down to me

There was a flight to the starboard of this flight at a higher altitude flight DAL84.

Object appeared approx 10-20 miles or approx 60 degrees below horizon while viewed from FO seat (right side) as we passed by.
Squid boats again? What do the AIS trackers say?

Jeez, we're good.
I mapped the gas platforms I think they are the best bet so far, right direction and close by
The full flight path of the aircraft should be available in the attached file. How does that match up with the locations of the rigs?

OP says it started at 06:07Z at 06:05z the plane seems to make a manoeuvre to bring its flight path closer to the gas platforms.

The stated timeline coincides exactly with when they would have been flying past Hibernia

I managed to overlay the map from my post above with your geoloc of the rig and the flight path. It shows the proximity of the flight to the gas fields quite well...

I had a look at OP's history, seems to be an alt account, the name of the account and the posting history points towards a UFO 'believer' so we are getting push back on the Oil Platform theory.

However this is one of those, "well if its not that then where is it" scenarios.

OP ruled out rigs in the original post, despite being 35 miles from the largest rig in the world, I think they likely know exactly what this is.

The website Zoom.Earth has a historical satellite imagery view that includes a "fires" layer. The image for 27Mar22 at 0600UTC shows a fire in the area identified above.

And overlaid in Google Earth...

So that essentially removes the "maybe it wasn't flaring at the time" excuse as for why it wasn't visible, but there also just happened to be an orange UFO hovering over the same spot that it would have been at.

That's a great resource btw might be worth adding to the tools list, I wonder if it goes back far enough for that Navy video of the flaring rig if we have lat/longs for that..

You mean this one?

The site appears to, but only offers an AM/PM time setting, and doesn't seem to have the fires layer available.

"Appeared to shine a same color Orange light at the top of the clouds that was just bigger than object itself. (See still pic)"

The map posted by @flarkey indicate the platform was in fog/low cloud, I wonder if there's enough historical weather data to show a fog that would have been low enough to have the flare tower poking above it.

In the original Reddit post the OP says:

Object appeared approx 10-20 miles or approx 60 degrees below horizon while viewed from FO seat (right side) as we passed by. Hard to tell actual distance while night unaided (no NVGs).

I've tried to stitch some of the frames from the video together to verify this and try and estimate the actual look-down angle. This will allow us to estimate the distance from the aircraft.

This matches @jarlrmai 's picture above, although I think the position of the object is slightly lower than your green dot...

Using the model of the 767 cockpit linked above we can quickly measure the look-down angle, which comes out roughly as 10 degrees.

1648737295208.png

this then becomes a simple trigonometry problem. With the aircraft altitude of 28,006 ft we can estimate the distance to the object...

1648737353850.png

Tan A = O/A
Tan 10 = 28006 / D
D = 28006/tan-1(10)
D = 162078 feet
D = 30.69 miles

... which is close to the Google Earth measured value of 34 miles in post #5 above.

Nice work, my green dot was based on the photos (specifically 5/6) which show the window frame a bit more than the video

we know the jet was level during the video because they handily show us the artificial horizon

This thread is giving me several ideas for things to add to the Sitrec tool! Like drop in a flight path, and some LLA coordinates, and plot the view from inside the cockpit.
