Landing Gear Comes Off Southwest Jet At LaGuardia Airport

The planes took a bit of an indirect route, including one of those loops that the chemtrail crowd say planes never do. Most likely it was just to space the arrival time, but I wonder if they were in a bit of a hurry to get on the ground. Still, you can bang those things down pretty hard.

Looks like a holding pattern, but why over Virginia? Where they keeping an eye on the weather, or what?

I imagine it's simply an arrival scheduling thing. They (ATC) probably have to line up the planes along the inbound route.

Maybe they circled when they discovered the problem, to stay close to the nearest airport?

Initially, the Federal Aviation Administration said the crew reported a possible nose gear problem before landing, but later amended that to say that after it reviewed air controller tapes, no issues were noted ahead of time.
