Debunked: Trees being cut down "because they block 5G" (tree replacement in Belgium)

What are the problems and challenges of implementing 5G?

Paul Billington:
“There is going to have to be a return on investment very quickly, so greenfield sites have an advantage over everybody else.”

Charles Kennelly: “The strength of the signal is very much governed by the local environment. There is nothing worse than a wet thick spruce tree for blocking signals. So you start having to deal with vegetation management.

Kennelly is the technology guy for the UK part of a large GIS company. He is not in the decision process to cut down trees. This thread is about whether trees are being cut down due to 5g. There is no evidence this is happening.

your quote basically says trees are not being cut down.

Charles Kennelly: “The strength of the signal is very much governed by the local environment. There is nothing worse than a wet thick spruce tree for blocking signals. So you start having to deal with vegetation management.

“Ports or nuclear power stations or airports are effectively mini-cities with a very distinct purpose. There is a drive to achieve something – to maximise economy or through-traffic. So in China, when they build a new city, the focus is on a very specific thing. In older cities, commonly the city isn’t managed by a common entity. It’s managed by a transport department, and a water department and so on.

“There are lots of competing interests. Suddenly, the desire to get a decent 5G signal to your phone is related to the grounds management department and this is not even on their radar at all. So some of the barriers that we face are political.

I got 50 cents per lawn mowed, as a kid. Vegetation management funded my purchases of footballs and black licorice..

This vague, local comment obviously fails, as support of the OP.

If it's being offered as some of the better evidence of an alleged but unseen trend,
then its weakness is better testimony of the lack of decent evidence.

Is this a general "trees are being cut down for 5G" thread, or should each particular bunch of trees/program have its own?

A friend in Amsterdam has voiced concerns that trees on Rozengracht are being cleared for 5G. Here's a facebook post addressing that:
Meanwhile on Rozengracht...the installment of the 5G network.

When the Gemeente Amsterdam announced to reorganize the street and cut all of the trees at Rozengracht, we asked them if they wanted to revise the street for the installment of 5G. They have always denied that and assured us it was absolutely not the case.

But guess what, the case of the trees is still ongoing and postponed and they have started with the installment of 5G.

We are supporting 3 different cases against 5G:

The first is a lawsuit against the Telecom industry, you can still support it up until the 4th of April at: https://bondoverheidszaken.nl/

The second is a lawsuit against our government: https://stop5gnl.nl

The third is a lawsuit via Milieudefensie. Unfortunately the board of Milieudefensie is going against the vote of its members and does not want to proceed with a lawsuit against the state. Therefore we have started an extra Member Meeting (ALV) to make sure the board lives up to the decisions made on the member meeting. You can support it via this link: https://stralingsbewust.info/…/dringende-oproep-voor-extra…/
