Andromeda Council?

Has anyone else come across this, er, group? I saw in my inbox this morning that someone in Australia had retweeted something from my business account that was at least 7 months old, so I had a look at the account of the person who had done the retweet. The second tweet led me to a site about The Andromeda Council. Reading some of the content, I couldn't for the life of me figure out whether it was a spoof or if they were serious, or if it was some kind of site linked to a TV series (like Battlestar Gallactica).

A quick google and I see a link where David Icke is calling the person behind this planet's representative, Tolec, a hoaxer. You'd have to be spouting some amount of bollocks for Icke to be calling you a hoaxer, but it does show that he, at least, doesn't see it as fiction related to the entertainment industry.

I've no idea where this thread should go, or even if it will become a thread, but I'd be interested to hear if anyone else had encountered this particular brand of nonsense. In particular, I'm hoping that someone knows for sure that it is a huge prank.

Oops. I meant to include this link: http://www.andromedacouncil.com/about.html

There ain't room for more than one prophet of the galactic governors it seems.

The site is hilarious, Max Brooks level of intensity. This from the FAQ, priceless -

Tolec, what about this 2nd sun that has been reported by Russia? Here is the report:www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfXcdt14Aoo

Is this the brown dwarf Tekoma?

ANSWER: No, no. It is not a second sun. It is not the brown dwarf - Tekoma. We would have reported its arrival to you. What they reported in Russia was the result of a purposeful short term exercise, conducted by the people of the Andromeda Council, to reveal the engineering biosphere - "Sarsta" to the people of Earth. If it were a second sun... it would have been observable, seen, all day long.

Hilarious indeed. That's why I wondered if it might not be a spoof or something. I tried to read all the way through the 'About' page but had to give up before I face-palmed myself unconscious.

Reading through the forum page on David Icke's site where Andromeda pops up is an exercise in enlightenment - the mind boggles at the bare-faced cheek of people who believe the planet is being run by lizards to call another bunch of lunatics any names at all.

My suspicions about the site possibly have their root in an episode of "Elementary", where Holmes talks about how he likes to visit conspiracy theory sites to wind them up, and claims to have invented several of the current memes. Considering how the whole crop circle madness began with a couple of blokes pranking a farmer, the idea has some plausibility. If this is the case for the chemtrail hoax, I wish someone would own up soon before some idiot does actually take a shot at a passenger jet.

Edit:
It is a sad fact that I have no idea where my life is heading, but in the event of a zombie apocalypse I shall be well prepared:

Hoax or true belief, it's been around for a while, dating back to 1999 on Internet Archive, and a small web site by Alex Collier and Jon Robinson
http://web.archive.org/web/19990208014451/http://www.lettersfromandromeda.com/

The web site itself dates the story back to 1996
http://web.archive.org/web/19990508...sfromandromeda.com/latestnews/latestnews.html

That page also mentions Val Valerian (John Grace), Someone that Jay was debunking back in 1999, and who played a part in the start of the chemtrails hoax.

Here's a 1997 discussion between Alex Collier, and Jon Robinson:

And this seems to be the 1996 "book" that seems to be the basis for a lot of it:
http://www.alexcollier.org/alex-collier-defending-sacred-ground-1996.pdf

And this is all somewhat similar to what is continues today with Project Camelot, the practitioners of which (Kerry Cassidy) are entirely serious.

Generally not worth much debunking effort. It's like a religion.
