I did too, but years ago when we lived at White Sands Missile Range (New Mexico) I also used it for watching incoming test rockets. They'd fire one from Utah (Green River) and six minutes later we could look at Polaris, then see TWO north stars... -

I wouldn't discount misinterpretation and memory as possibly more likely than full "hallucinations". Sometimes we see something and aren't sure what we saw, then our memory further complicates the situation. Case in point, Tuesday morning's walk...
