I did too, but years ago when we lived at White Sands Missile Range (New Mexico) I also used it for watching incoming test rockets. They'd fire one from Utah (Green River) and six minutes later we could look at Polaris, then see TWO north stars... -

Agree, having prior knowledge and understanding of phenomena being observed doesn't automatically make it less captivating, but it does remove the mystique. I can only wonder how many UFO videos are created by "context stripping", to push them... -

At the very start of the video clip, I get an impression of very slight flickering around the object at each end. I'm wondering if it's a helicopter- perhaps a Chinook- with light reflected off the rotors. Edited to add: written before I saw... -

Agreed with the caveat that I do not find meteors, re-entering space debris, or the ISS prosaic as we commonly use the word. Those are things I actually enjoy watching for and that may be an additional distinction between believers and myself...

That's true, if by "prosaic" you encompass all explanations that follow the known laws of physics and exclude all those that fall into the category of either "supernatural" or "it's aliens, but they probably know how to do things we thought were...
