Even within the black redaction boxes in the DOD video there are pixels which are not pure black or greyscale, they have differing RGB values. Maybe because the source video they used, even before they added the black boxes, was not pure...
But bear in mind that birds are well insulated! Looking at thermal imagery of birds, they sometimes appear pretty hot, sometimes pretty cold, though often with hot spots where they lack feathers (feet, eyes, beak)...
@Giddierone
Perspective lesson in a nutshell: if there are two objects, one ten feet away and one twenty feet away, the second appears 50% the height of the first. (10/20 = 0.5) But if one is 1000 feet away and the other is 1010 feet, then the...
The Sun takes a different arc across the sky every day, so especially at low angles, there are are limited set of days that the Sun will appear at a specific elevation and azimuth angle pair. If it is the Sun and the angles are 5º el and 115º az...
The field of view can be really narrow (source) :
The rotor diameter of each wind turbine is 167m

As a comparison this was a 2m object seen from 6km away :
temperature here refers to a quality of the colours in the image (the exploitation/manipulation of warm/cool colours being an important part of art/design), not literal hot/cold as infra red cameras indeed do.

Status update on Vasco60 work:
I've spent some time building a controlled "surgical" test harness to compare individual MNRAS candidate coordinates against SExtractor/PSFEx outputs on the same tile centres, including parity logic such as the...
Hi all,
I'm a 3D generalist from the UK, so I've enjoyed reading debunks on here over the years as it crosses over well with replicating reality (cameras, optics, material science etc).
I've visited occasionally for quite a few years but with...
