The goal here was to create a quick video player for zooming in on sections of video, going frame by frame, and (optionally) showing the original pixels.
  • It only works in Chrome, Edge, or Opera (Due to reliance on WebCodecs)
  • Should work with most mp4 files
  • To load a file, drag it into the window
  • There are also some famous presets included under the "Video File" menu.
  • By default, it shows the actual pixels when scaled up. Select "Smooth" to use more traditional smooth scaling.
  • There's currently no audio
  • Controls:
    • Spacebar = pause/play
    • A slider at the bottom of the screen to move the playhead
    • < and > stepsingle frames
    • left and right arrows play forward or backwards while held
    • up and down arrows play at 10x speed
    • Mouse Wheel = zoom in/out (on the position under the mouse)
    • Left Drag = Pan image
    • Right Drag left/right = scrub video
    • Center Drag left/right = Zoom
    • Double click = reset zoom/pan
    • U = show/hide UI
    • F = full screen

Bugs:
  • Not working with 60Hz video (plays at half speed)
  • Not working on mobile devices.

I'll update this OP as I add features and UI improvements (suggestions and requests?) Eventually, it will form the basis for some video analysis tools.

Not working on mobile devices.
Can someone see if this works in Chrome on an Android device?

It does not work on iOS device (iPhone, iPad) which is a bit disappointing, as I thought Chrome on those would support WebCodecs. I might have to shoehorn in a different method of loading the videos.

I've added a "Load Video" button, which might be easier than dragging and dropping files

not sure what you mean by works. i see the video play, it kinda creeps down the screen for some reason and i had to go after it. it stops real brief from time to time, but i can zoom in and see pixels (not so much in cloud areas but i have a 35$ phone from walmart).

the hayle beach only played for a few seconds then went black

Thanks, I guess I should just keep the status as "not on mobile" for now.
