That's right- if this turns out to be a manned helicopter or plane, using a laser or even just a very bright light could cause temporary (or permanent) blindness and potential accidents.

Or if they are police drones, military drones or drones operated by criminals, signalling to them might draw their attention in ways that could be unpredictable.

They might think YOU are the subject (drug dealer, arms merchant, kidnapper) that the drones are searching for.
