Ohoopee River sky anomaly

There are strange lights in the sky over our land on the Ohoopee River tonight. They are above the clouds but below commercial aircraft. I could see them through the clouds on my starlight cameras also while filming tonight. They look like small pillars of light. They are not moving with the clouds or the wind. This is really strange! We have never even seen this when the UFOs are here. Not auroras!

Based on current space weather conditions for tonight, Tuesday, February 10, 2026, there is no predicted aurora visibility over Georgia. While Georgia experienced rare aurora sightings in January 2026 and throughout late 2025 due to extreme G4 geomagnetic storms, current conditions are calm:

Current Activity: The NOAA Aurora Dashboard shows a Kp-index around 1.67, far below the level needed for Georgia. Threshold for Georgia: Aurora visibility as far south as Atlanta typically requires a Kp-index of 8 or 9 (G4 or G5 "Severe" storm).

Regional Forecast: Tonight's viewline—the southernmost extent of potential visibility—is limited to northern U.S. states and Canada.

Looks like light pillars to me.
Agreed, in particular give that there's a strong correlation between the pillars and ground-based illumination in the distance, so it's probably something high reflecting that ground illumination, and there's no 'rainbow' effect, it's a simple reflection with next to no refraction, and ice pillars are typically created by flat crystals. Given that some quite bright pillars, could they be correlated with something like a football stadium, a town hall square, an airfield, or something? Alas without location, direction, and time, we're left doing guesswork, Ohoopee river doesn't narrow it down much..

This (unrelated) video posted by the same Twitter account has a time stamp, showing a helicopter flying left to right.

Matching up with flight radar suggests if it is on the Ohoopee River it's likely just east of Lyons GA.

It appears to be from the same camera, or at least a very similar vantage point, and there are stars visible which should allow the direction to be worked out pretty accurately.

yea some guy on reddit said he's from Valdaria. which is just behind lyons.
Vidalia? That's the other side of Lyons, not on the river. I'd suggest somewhere near to Ohoopee itself, if it is right on the river, or somewhat to the south of that. Could possibly be looking towards Lyons - the camera seems to show a glow from street lights etc.

Ranger H posted this photo of a bird of prey taken using a drone that he presumably flies from his property.

Thats here: 32.258217, -82.199792

Presumably the camera isnt far from there. I dont want to dox someone, but that should be close enough to allow us to suggest the source of the lights.

The camera is facing just west of north

The twitter user being discussed here, Ranger H, has had some previous footage of theirs discussed here. That footage was of a floating orb.

I am pretty sure I found his property around that time and saw that his cameras mostly face north.

This camera seems to have the roof of his house in it, which I don't recall the other ones having but most of his previous footage was pointing Northerly

I don't know if its a good idea to point out someones house on a public forum, but if i am correct they are located a bit N-NE of Ohoopee along the river

I'm extremely familiar with this area (my wife's home town).

Based on the coordinates, he'd be out near Cobbtown. Fairly dark skies there. You do get some light glow on the horizon from Lyons, Vidalia, and Metter. There's a prison about 18 miles due south and a nuclear power plant 25 miles south southwest. There's a small airport off to the southeast at Reidsville, but it is very small. There aren't very many light sources. Even knowing what direction you're pointing, there's just not much to work with.

My shot in the dark (no pun intended) is lighting related to a rather large highway project. Currently US 1 cuts through "downtown" Lyons and involves a railroad crossing. There's substantial truck traffic (lumber, onions, air conditioners) through there. They're building a lengthy highway bypass around the west side of Lyons to relieve truck traffic. Like 7 miles, divided highway, couple bridges.

I showed this thread to my wife and she didn't really have any other ideas on light sources.

The lights hovering a few feet up is kinda funny to me too. The river is fairly small, not developed, and heavily wooded. Lots of hunting, fishing, and poaching. It has sandy banks with numerous bars. Practically an ATV highway for getting to your hunting spot. You can see where I'm going with "hovering lights just above the water."
