In this artice the Tedesco's are described as "go-to experts" on "America's 'mystery drone' invasion"

The article opens with a description of apparent drones at "US Army Natick Soldier Systems Center, a military research installation outside Boston"

"On a Friday evening last December" (2024)

The rest of article is lauding the Tedesco brothers data and equipment etc.

I found this picture a little entertaining, someone, presumable one of the brothers is drawing on a digital whiteboard with a set of callipers

It does seem the Tedescos have been in the field somewhat

Ultimately, the Tedescos didn't have to drive the Nightcrawler far to train their equipment on a prime mystery drone case: Westhampton Beach's Francis S. Gabreski Airport, less than an hour from their homes and home itself to the New York Air National Guard's 106th Rescue Wing, was inundated with at least 28 unauthorised drone flights from late December into January 2025.

On Christmas Day alone, the airport was besieged by 17 drone incidents,

No mention is made of the case here, nor the Tedescos threat to sue Metabunk and their accusations of criticism of the case investigated here of being "domestic terrorism"

Perhaps the author is unaware of this issue.

Gosh there's just so much here. I am a little shocked this article made it through MIT Technology Review's process and got published.

Firstly I wonder if the Tedescos are singlehandedly responsible for all the "mysterious drone" buzz at Gabreski airport leading to a press briefing with police and local political officials where officials were under the impression that a bunch of illegal drones had been seen at the airport, but gave no evidence and were thin in the details of how they knew this:

We also knew that the Tedescos have had their vehicle at Gabreski airport because it was featured there in the below news segment, but this new article suggests they are spending a lot of time there, not just a one off visit.

A squadron of about 15 to 20 drones had been spotted violating the base's restricted airspace. The culprits could not be found.

I live in the Boston area and I've never heard of this incident. It looks like there is more to dig into here in the FOIA response:

Metadata suggests this was at 5.44am on 31 Aug 2025, presumably towards the sea from Long Island...

I initally thought the light was a planet, but Venus and Jupiter are seen in the video in the other direction:

ADSB shows some aircraft on approach to JFK and flying directly towards the beach.

Interestingly enough, the entity that is filming it, spends more time filming the people than the light. And image stability is not a key requirement it seems, perhaps a little too much alcohol.
It does not get more ridiculous than that. And then comparing the Tedesco bros with the Wright bros is blasphemy.

Which is why Sitrec is importing it that way, I tried forcing rotation but it didn't work, so I re-encoded it with Handbrake, the attached file will import to Sitrec with the correct orientation.

Rotation 90 is set and should mean portrait, VLC on my PC respects it, but Sitrec seems to not.

I tried setting it to 0 and it still didn't do anything

I think the "blasphemy" came when the news of their flight was telegraphed home, and the Dayton Daily News (I think) headlined the story "Wright brothers will be home for Christmas".
