I'm going to The Amazing Meeting

I'm especially dubious of the Penn Jilette's Rock and Roll Bacon and Doughnut Party. When have bacon and doughnuts been served at a magician's party before?

Clearly there is trickery going on here. On the left it says 1200 DOUGHnuts but on the right it says DOnut.

I suspect that the doughnut and donut represent the red and blue pill and you have to ask for the right one to get the antidote to their next secret plan.

I'm getting ready to install a hot tub at my place so if you run into Penn see if he still is in the Jill-Jet business.

In July 1999, Jillette was granted U.S. Patent 5,920,923 for the "Jill-Jet", a hot-tub jet specially angled for a woman's pleasure. He has credited Debbie Harry of Blondie for suggesting the idea, as the two of them were once in a hot-tub and Harry made a remark about changing the jets for a woman's pleasure. Jillette liked the idea enough to pursue patent application at the USPTO under the patent title "Hydro-therapeutic stimulator".[18] The abstract of the patent explains that a "discharge nozzle is located within the tub and connected to the outlet, mounted to the seat so that the discharged water from the circulation pump automatically aligns with and is directed to stimulation points of the female user when the female user sits in the seat."

I also wonder how many of the "rational" attendees blew their kid's college fund in the casino, thinking, "F**k the odds, I'm feelin' LUCKY !! "

(I guess not many, and the casino is saying to themselves, "this crowd ?...never again")

I'm looking at TAM 2014. Since I'm in SoCal, getting to Las Vegas is relatively easy (can fly, and rent a car... or just drive for about 5 hours)...and, I once lived in Las Vegas, so am quite familiar.

The pricing structure from the website seems all over the map...but, I'd most likely enjoy attending Penn Jillette's "Private Rock & Roll, Doughnut and Bacon Party" just because I have been a BIG fan of "Penn & Teller" ever since I caught one of their shows, off-off-Broadway back in the early
'80s. (Before they had become a world-wide phenomenon).

So, I'm still "on the fence", so to speak. Will be later determined if one of my buddies from back East will be able to fly out to KLAS and join, or not.

Oh, and July in LAS? Be prepared to perspire!

I'm 99% sure I'm going - will decide 100% after I get back from Peru. Would be fun to meet up with other online debunkers.

Last year it was 110°F outside. I did not leave the hotel (South Point) the entire time (it's a few miles south of the strip, so nothing accessible without taxi anyway).

110°F? Piece of cake!! (I also used to live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. This relates tangentially to your upcoming Machu Picchu visit {in terms of the body's ability to adapt to varying climate}, and yes I am very jealous!).

Should I also mention that I've flown a lot into Lima, Peru? (Or, will you be going to La Paz, Bolivia?) From Lima, you might connect domestically to Cusco ("Cuzco"). (One 'national' drink of Peru is called a "Cusco"..it's a sort of Margarita).

The area around the Lima, Peru International Airport is very, very squalid. But, if just transiting, then no matter. (I have never been to Cusco, however).

Going to Lima first to meet my mother who is volunteering in Villa el Salvador, couple of days in Lima (in a nice bit), then flight to Cusco and Machu Picchu.

I think it's quite a bit easier to adapt to 11,000 feet than it is to 110°F :) Vegas is fun and all, but that pretty much forces you to stay indoors in the daytime - not that that's a problem at TAM, as noted.

OT, but back when I had many trips to Lima (from Newark) I often flew with a First Officer who was going down there regularly in order to adopt one of the orphans from a location in Lima....I wonder if it's the same place?

(He met with MUCH bureaucracy, in the adoption process...for many months). We went down around Christmas time, one year, and brought a bunch of toys, and spent some time there. It was an emotional experience.

ALSO.....the Customs officials at the Lima international Airport are particularly hard-assed. (Has been my experience). I think they are (or were) slightly corrupt, too.

Mick should use some of Metabunk's government funding to send some of us poor debunkers to TAM camp.

I kid, I kid!

Wow. I have a friend who is going to Peru in a week or two. It's a small world... (but I would't want to paint it- courtesy, Steven Wright). :)

I finally got around to registering for this. July 10-13. Also registered for the workshops - which were a bit of mixed bag last year, but still interesting.

Anyone else?

It's only a 90 minute drive but I would have to save up for the $1k TAM experience price. I figure if I'm going to go it would be worth the pay to get the full experience. Picture with Randi? (jealous)

I'm just going with the basic package. Still waiting for my NSA check :)

Are you going to post photos from Machu Picchu. Such a beautiful place, and the old settlements and pyramids.

When your at the ancient cities Mick, are you moved? Do you wonder or think about the amount of work and time that went into building these structures.
Where is this one from, I don't recognise it?

This photo is often used in Ancient Aliens, when they describe you couldn't fit a sheet of paper between the seems. Amazing photos

It has to be a deeply spiritual moving experience

Yes, it was all very impressive, makes you wonder what they might have become.

Huaca Pucllana. A Pre-inca fort.
