I went back and checked out the three sightings you described, because I wanted to understand what you meant when you said you had corroboration for the first one. I'm not dismissing your experiences, but there's a pretty big difference between finding other reports that sound similar and having independent corroboration of your actual sighting.

People see lights in the sky they can't identify all the time. Distance, perspective, atmospheric conditions, lack of reference points, and the simple difficulty of judging an unfamiliar object in the sky can make ordinary things difficult to identify. So finding other people who also reported unidentified lights doesn't automatically make the reports extraordinary.

The later NUFORC reports you point to are interesting, but one was roughly five months later and about 250 miles away. There's no way to establish that those witnesses saw the same "objects" you did, so calling that corroboration is stretching the term. At most, it shows that other people reported something similar.

And even if we grant all of that, where exactly does ET enter the picture? That's the leap I fail to understand.

If you are trying to understand a phenomenon, it just makes sense (be it a possible unknown natural phenomenon, or some unknown medical condition or disease) too study witness and patient accounts and look for similarities and patterns in the reports

You refer to "a phenomenon" as if all reports were similar, but (for example) your reported event is entirely different from that of @Fin and others. Yes, the term "unexplained" can be used for many of these, but that doesn't mean they were similar in any way or that they referred to "the same phenomenon". The more DIFFERENT things that are reported, the less likely there is to be anything factual to be studied, because they are all single events and cannot possibly all refer to the same physical cause. An incursion into our atmosphere of one extraterrestrial vessel is vastly improbable; the laws of physics show that. To claim that it's happened again and again with different kinds of craft, that is, multiplying an improbability by many, takes it out of the improbable category into the "surely you can't expect anybody to believe THAT!" category.

I said "physical" causes, but such a wide variety of sightings could be produced by gullibility, hoaxes, misconceptions, intoxication, or any of the multiple causes for hallucinations or dreams. The viewer might not recognize what has happened and may honestly believe he is reporting something that actually happened. There are also occasions (some of which have been debunked here) in which strange atmospheric inversions cause things to be "seen" here when they happened far away, things such as advertising spotlights or holiday displays shining on clouds, and (as might be the case in your proximity to the McMinnville UFO celebrations) things displayed that are seen as just part of the party to the attendees but are strange phenomena to those on the outside. Wedding lanterns would also fall in that category, things that it's possible for more than one person to see, but also possible for all the outsiders to misinterpret.

I don't know that UFOs are extraterrestrial vessels coming from somewhere else with bug-eyed aliens in them. What I saw could be some kind of persistent non-human technology, or something else. Fin's sighting has some similarities but also some differences. He saw glowing spheres too, but also saw triangular objects in the sky.
We both have seen wonders a couple of times. We both share a lot of similar approaches to telling people just how strange what we've seen is. Being cautious at first.
He became interested in UFOs right before his sightings began; I had checked out a book that turned out to have a sighting in it that matched what I saw.
Fin's sightings are like other sightings, and he has corroboration for his sightings; so do I.
All of the things we've seen fit into particular categories of anomalous objects that have been reported in the past, and reported in recent times too.

But I don't think that is what many sceptics think. It is a characterisation repeated by some UFO enthusiasts, implying that sceptics think claimants are lying.
Most sceptics who have any familiarity with UFO reports probably believe (in fairness I can't quote figures) that the majority are honest misidentifications made by essentially honest, reliable people. A small number may be due to other factors (e.g. the 1979 Dechmont Woods UFO) but nonetheless the claimants are honestly reporting what they experienced or remember.
With Ariel school, I suspect that a number of factors were important, but reported sightings were largely due to social/ behavioral factors in the context of the preceding fireball over southern Africa and the chance classroom discussion about UFOs earlier in the week, and the way teachers reacted to some of the younger children (who are not recorded as seeing anything themselves) being upset after a period of unsupervised play.

You are right, honest misidentifications are the most likely explanation. However, in my understanding the term 'confabulations' includes this kind of happenstance (of course, they're not at the level of pyschiatric confabulations, 'normal confabulations'?), when one convinces himself.

I think there's a difference between a misidentification, which might include accurate descriptions of what was perceived, and a confabulation (when that term is applied to an apparent recollection or description of something). "Confabulation" is also sometimes used to mean chit-chat or conversation generally, but I don't think we use it in that way when discussing confabulation in the context of UFO sightings.

I recently listened to a really good podcast (it was recent, say within the past couple of week, but which I cannot seem to now find) about Exploding Head Syndrome and it's similarity with various "anomalous/alien experiences".

I've actually had that happen to me and it scared the hell out of me! When I asked my wife if she heard it and she said heard what?

About 35 years ago I suffered a concussion when I was halfway up a cliff and some idiot kid threw a large rock off the top. Since then I get lots of auditory effects, including what I think they refer to as exploding head syndrome. Another thing that really bothered me is when the TV commentators had volume equalizers at large sporting events, so that the crowd noise was hushed somewhat when the announcer said something, but then when he stopped the full crowd roar came back, and it felt like a physical blow in my ear.

I wonder if things like a head injury, perhaps even a relatively mild one, might be responsible for people reporting the syndrome. But so far I've had no "alien" experiences!

Weird thing was I didn't lose consciousness but I got a huge goose egg on my forehead where my head struck the concrete! I guess I have a hard head but boy did that hurt! As far as I know, there wasn't any long term damage from the injury. Also, I have had that exploding head syndrome but only a couple times.

I would say the exploding head sensation doesn't have to be correlated to brain damage.
Maybe it could be triggered that way, But I never sustained any concussion or physical damage to the head, it was just stress due to work in my case.
What I find fascinating is that most of the time I didn't hear a clear "bang", but more like an electrical sounding "zzzap", accompanied by a flash.
These sounds are also frequently described when someone takes certain psychedelics or have paralysis, or describe alien abductions.

Was always funny to me that this case is brought up by UFO believers & serves as the finale to James Fox's The Phenomenon.

These super advanced hippie/environmentalist aliens decide to communicate their ultra important message through a brief encounter with a bunch of kids in Zimbabwe.

Perhaps they should have gone to The White House or Times Square or, better yet, Madison Avenue for some PR/Marketing expertise.

Ariel witness Paul Trim (older brother of Emily Trim) has done his first interview for Georges St Pierre (who has 2.6M Twitter followers). There are two significant problems with how this interview is presented, IMO.

1. AI recreations of the sighting are included. These bear no resemblance to what any of the children - or even adults - described, including the image of a group of children gathered right in front of an alien. In reality: while three girls did (eventually) claim to get close to an alien, no other child witness reported seeing an alien get close to those girls, and certainly not close to a large group of children. Fanciful recreations have of course always been a part of ufology. It's the very definition of bunk because now a debunker has to debunk not only the evidence but also the false image of the evidence that's planted itself into people's heads.

2. Paul mentions he made a drawing but appears not to know which drawing he drew as it's never displayed during the interview.

[17:40] I don't remember exactly what I drew cuz of that time and everything that went on. But I know there's a picture out there I drew and somewhere it's filed, and someone has a copy of the specific one I've actually drawn.

He describes seeing three beings with "big big eyes" per the consensus story:

But his drawing shows two beings with no eyes. (The one on the right has sketched eyes but they've been colored over, so apparently the eyes weren't significant to him at the time.) His name is on this drawing and his aunt confirmed to me it was his drawing (I corresponded with her in 2024 after Emily's death, when she reached out to me after finding my website.)

(Note: there are versions of the drawings online that have the children's names scrubbed, but it's possible to find the originals either as scans or screenshots taken from BBC & other footage.)

Paul's aunt told me that the kids were shown scary alien abduction movies after the event - a remarkably idiotic decision by the school - which further traumatized them as they became fearful they would be taken away. Paul confirms this in the interview:

[22:08] The main thing that made me reluctant [to speak out earlier] is the after fact and what happened with how they dealt with us. ...One of the teachers who dealt with the older class, which I was in, we actually had to watch movies and videos of the UFOs. And in those movies and videos, they talked about abduction, grabbing you to do studies, and taking you away, and stuff like that. For a kid, you can get a kid that's okay with some of that stuff, but it can be really hard for other kids to deal with that stuff.

Former UFC champion GSP! Haha wow he has always been a quirky guy, often talking about his love of dinosaurs and interest in UFOs. He once said something like "there's 3 things I love in life - dinosaurs, women, and the thrill of the octagon!". His podcast appears to be the same vibes. One day he's interviewing a PhD in sex therapy, another day a boxing coach, on to an accomplished paleontologist, then a UFO "witness", and so on lol.

They were shown the movies during class time so I presume there was no way to avoid it. Perhaps the teacher(s) thought it was an interesting topic to discuss since the kids were showing an interest. I doubt the school was concerned about how it could shape the narrative going forward in terms of the aliens being malevolent - that is, they were being thoughtless but I'm not sure children's psychological health was important in that school. (The headmaster allegedly used a cane for discipline - in the 1990s!)

During the initial interviews (Mon-Tue after the Friday event), none of the kids expresses fear or looks scared recalling what they saw, nor do they talk about seeing other kids being terrified (specifically, the older kids - some say the younger ones were scared, but we have no interviews with them). Then Mack shows up 2+ months later, and suddenly we have kids talking about how terrifying it was. I think some of this was due to wanting to give Mack what he expected, but those scary alien movies could have primed them.

From Emma's interview:

He was making me all scared, my heart was now starting to pump faster, and it was making me all woozy.

At approximately 10:06, Joe Rogan directly asks GSP whether he has ever experienced an alien encounter. GSP initially denies it, then says he doesn't know.
At 11:15, GSP says:

"It's either I'm crazy or maybe it really happened."

He then adds:

"But I hope that I'm crazy."

At approximately 12:33, GSP describes looking at a clock and discovering that two or four hours appear to have passed without his remembering what happened.

GSP revisits this earlier controversy and explained that, as a child, he remembered frightening nighttime experiences involving what he called monsters. He said he had made drawings but could no longer clearly remember the experiences.

Uh we were together uh in a car and uh we all saw something uh I don't know what it was. I'm not saying Italian but we saw something that we couldn't explain. It didn't look like anything that we we have seen before. And all the all five of us when it happened, we were on the highway driving. It was dark. We we were like, "Holy [ __ ] what happened?

Interestingly then moves to say at approx. 33.30

And I remember because it's very strange when they talk about what they've seen, it does not resemble of what I've seen.
It's like we we're lying. We make up a story that we all have different different experience. So for me it looked like a greenish triangular light orbs sort of flying towards us. Then it changed direction then it changed again and it skip over and it sort of disappear where again it was in Albuquerque New Mexico.

GSP described an unexplained UFO sighting while travelling with Rashad Evans, Mike Van Arsdale and other fighters near Albuquerque, New Mexico. "We saw a UFO all together," GSP stated, describing an object that "changed directions and it disappear." He clarified, "UFO doesn't mean it's an alien," emphasising that he could not identify what they witnessed.

I believe that represents a fair and balanced stance on what GSP has said publicly. The language barrier makes GSP a little hard to quote from.

My own personal inferences from having watched his MMA world interactions over the years. He is more explicit and candid about his believes etc off camera. Every interviewer seems to be egging him on to "tell me what you told before the camera were rolling George". I also believe that Joe also played a role in GSPs introduction to Bob Lazar likley directly.
