Sept 8 sighting of NHI orbs with Chris Bledsoe over the Capitol building

Matt Ford hosted a live show with Vinnie Adams and JP Hague live-covering the Sept 9 House Oversight hearing. At the end of the show, Ford shows and discusses a video he was given by Anna Brady-Estevez, which was recorded the night before, on Sept 8. Presumably after the well publicized event where many people who were going to the hearing the next day met up. Brady-Estevez is a former program director at the NSF, and seems deeply involved in crafting and pushing UFO narratives inside the federal government, is now on the board of the lobbying org UAP Disclosure Fund, and promotes the claims of a long list of individuals through this NSF-affiliated(?) podcast. Brady-Estevez along with Chris Bledsoe and Sarah Gamm (analyst for UAP Task Force) and a few other unnamed individuals went on a walk near the Capitol and participated in, as Ford describes from the account from Brady-Estevez, a group prayer session which led to anomalous orbs over the Capitol building. This sounds akin to one of Bledsoe's religious events where he brings people out to hold group prayer to summon "orbs" which are what he believes to be messengers from God. This time though, we get confirmation that Brady-Estevez and Gamm, two former government employees directly involved in generating and promoting UFO stories inside the federal government, were there and believed what was going on, to the degree that they thought it was important to immediately circulate the videos and story to Matt Ford and Ross Coulthart.

I'll quote Coulthart's post for its context:

Eerie echoes here of the 1952 Washington DC UAP flyover event. Whatever they were, they didn't quite land on the White House lawn....but they came close! New details on the extraordinary orbs sighted over or near the White House the evening prior to the UAP hearing (8Sep 2025) by a large group, including Chris Bledsoe @chrisbledsoeufo, intelligence expert image analyst Sarah Gamm, Anna Brady Estevez - founding Partner of American DeepTech and advisory board member for the UAPDF, former deputy chief scientist for the ISS Donna Roberts (chf scientist with Deep Tech). Ford's live stream video is here. Here is the link to the ~13.5 minute section from that video which is the part about these videos. I have also attached the 3 video clips from Coulthart's post as vid1/2/3, below. In the video, Ford also cites the impressive credentials of the people in this group sighting (e.g. scientists, PhDs, DoD and NSF employment) as evidence that this definitely is something anomalous and doing "maneuvers that are definitely NHI".

Here is the photo Ford included, which was taken on the staircase landing above the Neptune Fountain in front of the Library of Congress (38°53'20"N 77°00'16"W). It's possible that everyone in the group is pictured in other photos available from the night-before meetup and could be identified based on clothing, but I have not tried. The 3 video clips appear to be taken from street level, not on the staircase landing. You can hear the fountain noise in the background of the videos, and the statue visible in the clips poking over the trees is the one on top of the Capitol building dome.

Both Coulthart and Ford compare this to the alleged 1952 sighting of unidentified things in DC. When I look at the video, I see a small light colored thing flying not particularly fast, in swooping loops over the trees and yards around the Capitol building. It looks a lot like a bird. But several people there sound very excited to be seeing it, I think largely because Chris Bledsoe is convincing them that it is amazing. At 0:23 in vid2, a voice in the background starts talking about seeing drones over the White House and Bledsoe is pretty insistent that it isn't a drone, which I happen to think is probably correct, and that there is a good chance those other things could have been planes over the Potomac after takeoff off from Reagan airport runway 1, 2+ miles away.

My takeaway from this is that two individuals we know have been deeply involved in federal programs about UAP and who promote the Bigelow/Stratton/Puthoff/Davis/Elizondo/etc flavor of opinions about alien visitation to Earth and covered up alien technology, are aligned with Chris Bledsoe's religious narratives and easily persuaded to interpret this as an anomalous UFO. The videos don't show anything I find interesting, or think any reasonable person should find interesting, but since these particular individuals with particular job titles and credentials say it is interesting, we are supposed to just take that as a given. And as Matt Ford said, we're also supposed to take it as proof for an advanced non-human intelligence.

That's basically it. That area has a LOT of uplights, so you are going to see birds and maybe bats caught in the lights. You see the lights in the group photo, and a bit clearer here:

I do not have the mental energy to watch this all at the moment. I honestly can't believe this is real. It's ridiculous.

If you think that's ridiculous....how about Chris Bledsoe being described as 'the leading observational scientist in terms of seeing these orbs'....

The entire video is 27 minutes, but the relevant section with Chris Bledsoe ( which actually shows a clearer version of the 'orb' video than shown here ) is only 2 minutes or so, and I have set the video to start at that point. And it perfectly encapsulates the mindset of those who believe his orb nonsense. I've no idea who the lady with Chris Bledsoe and who makes the 'scientist' comment is.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That was a chicken brooder

Maybe the underside... the main part of Adamski's Venusian scout ship is now thought to be the lid of a gas lantern of a type sold through the Sears catalogue (or a very similar product- there were lots of variants from several manufacturers).

Joel Carpenter found a close match which is shown in his essay "Preliminary Notes on the Adamski Scout Ship Photos", 02 April 2012 (PDF attached).

Adamski's scout ship has a slot or something on the "skirt" beneath a short section of "hull wall" that doesn't have portholes.
Which by coincidence, looks a bit like the slot for handle attachments on the lamp lid, in line with a section of the lid without holes.

I would think bats instead of birds. There seems to be a lot of flapping going on, in those brief moments when the fliers are actually in focus.
I suspect local birdwatchers could tell us what night flying birds are likely in the area. Any birdwatchers in the Metabunk regulars?

The third video show a nice example of the lights in the lower right of the scene being briefly reflected in the upper left portion of the video. Surprised they didn't declare them to be UAP's as well.

Almost all bats in the USA are dark (brown or black, not white), as are nighthawks. All the lights on the Capitol would attract insects that birds might go for, but these seem to be flying high above the buildings, so maybe they're just heading home instead of hunting for insects. Maybe owls are a possibility, or something like egrets.

What they DON'T look like are mysterious "orbs".

For a comparison, here are seagulls and other critters flying through the Luxor beam of light in Las Vegas eating the massive swarm of bugs that it attracts. The videographer comments that they think some of them are bats, as they are smaller and brownish. I'd guess it might also be smaller, browner birds, but there's no reason I can think of why bats would NOT join the picnic.

The beam over the Luxor is touted as the brightest in the world, so birds and bats in that beam are likely more brilliantly lit than over DC.

But what the the Potomac being right there and all, gulls are common in the DC area (from personal experience, lived there in my high school years... ) And my experience as a kid tossing rocks in the air around streetlights at night so the bats would chase them, bats in the SE USA are quick, skittery fliers, for whatever that observation is worth.

So I'm inclined towards thinking its gulls.

We do have a lot of cases of people traveling to tourist locations -- tropical resorts, cruises, the desert Southwest -- and reporting UAPs or "playful orbs" coincidentally just where there are powerful lights shining out or up or on the outskirts of campgrounds. (My own sister came back from a cruise insisting she saw UAPs following the ship.)

So there seem to be those common elements -- visiting somewhere where the flying creatures are unfamiliar and bright upward-facing lights, coincidentally where there are birds or bats that eat flying insects that are drawn to the light.

There are some light-bodied, dark-winged bats that will definitely appear as swooping wingless balls of light, though as Ann noted above they're not necessarily widespread in North America. But as Deirdre pointed, they don't have to be light-colored, just reflective.

Sometimes there is also unfamiliarity with the patterns of the local environment. There was a Colorado guy on reddit a couple weeks ago insisting that there was no possibility the tiny balls of light he had seen over nearby fields this September (and last September) could be fireflies because "there are no fireflies here" and "Colorado, bro, no fireflies in this town." But there are: https://butterflies.org/colorado-firefly-watch/, and they've been photographed within five miles of his community, and in September:

. (They may not have been fireflies, but what was in his video were tiny swooping lights that brightened and darkened like fireflies.)
