I came across an older but highly relevant paper while digging into photographic plate artefacts:
Greiner et al. (1990), Astronomy & Astrophysics, 234, 251–261
"Discrimination between star-like defects on photographic plates and possible γ-ray...
My prior was "big shrug", but, after seeing that, my posterior is "could so easily be lens flare". Just as a sanity test - is the sun (presumably the only sane source of the flare) and the shadows it casts, at the appropriate angle? With the poor...
Yes, but there are some caveats with all these people. First, as I said up-thread, all levels of government are going to include some people that are into UFOs, because they all come from the general population. That's not strange or surprising...

Is it just me. or does that look rather like the moon peeking through a gap in clouds? Which, if that were the case, might account for how short the clip is -- if it was longer it might reveal that it's just the moon as more of it becomes...

Ours aren't. Ours can pull up and land delicately on a nest not much larger than the top of a telegraph pole, and not knock it off. However, there's survivorship bias potential there, and of course existence of the graceful does not deny the...
I'm relatively new here, so forgive me if this was posted already. I've looked, but I haven't found it. I thought it might be of interest to people here.
About a month ago Kirkpatrick gave a really interesting speech about how AARO was setup and...
TL;DR: One to five yellow/white lights have been appearing almost nightly for over a year near Siwa Oasis, Egypt. They float, accelerate, reverse direction, and fade in/out between 10:00 PM and 3:00 AM. Observed by myself and a hobby astronomer...
I just recreated same effect - at 00:01 ufo goes into\behind clouds. Obviously it was sun(top-right) that was obscured by another cloud
Here is video repeated 3 times (without filters & without zoom):
I
My quick attempt to recreate this ufo by filming sun lens flare
It doesn't go "behind clouds" the same way - it hides rather abruptly (I move phone to the side and sun hides behind a wall) but I bet If I obscure sun using some transparent...
Thanks! It's very difficult to find these relevant, older papers, but I'll keep digging and add them here: https://github.com/jannefi/vasco60/blob/main/docs/PLATE_FORENSICS_LIBRARY.md
