I spend all day writing (usually fiction) or editing and reading while listening to podcasts (often book reviews, although not in my genre, or philosophy-type channels). It seems like at least once a day, sometimes multiple times in one hour, I...
I don't know if this was discussed here or somewhere else... it seems the military argued there was nothing to be retrieved (in terms of information/documents about their role back in 1996), but extended the period in which the docs pertaining to...
After watching the Witnesses of the Rendlesham Forest Incident video, my main take away that this was a bunch of stories related by some overexcited people who saw some lights in the woods at night, and that the stories bear an interesting...
I know, we've been over this before. I'll just say, and with all due respect and sincerity, I think you project too much of yourself into the situation. Obviously we've never met and don't know each other, but I've read enough of your posts that...
It doesn't need to be natural, it could even be a vortex from a prior plane transit of the area, as they can persist for quite a while. If it's a balloon that's been weakened by the UV light of the sun, such a shock might even be enough to...
Yeah, that's an intriguing possibility. According to old advertisements, there was indeed kite fighting at the festival, and I'm sure there were quite a few sad old wrecks lying around when it was over.
Also, we have the "white spots" on the...
Yep — probably just a coincidence, but still another piece of the puzzle worth taking into consideration. For me, it's not only about the festival itself, but rather the fact that it serves as a reminder that kites seemed to have been a fairly...
I'd guess the Calvine photo is a deliberate, planned hoax.
It might have been a spur of the moment thing, using something passably "UFO-shaped" that happened to be there after noticing a military aircraft (or aircraft plural), but I think this is...
Perhaps — but yet again, it would be difficult to stage the scene, move the small jet (assuming it is a small model) while keeping everything reasonably in focus, and at the same time avoid the flying kite being completely smeared out by motion...
Once upon a time...early '80s, I was standing in line for Space Mountain in Anaheim.
My girlfriend (still a friend, btw) asked me: "Doesn't your cousin Chris live in LA?"
I chuckled at the question, since the LA metroplex had maybe 8 million...
The wing flap frequency that I perceive in the video is roughly 1.5 Hz. This is much slower than we see with ducks or mergansers.
These are larger birds, like egrets, flamingos or spoonbills (all common in the region).
There's some oddness going on with the gain, and it's not clear what time this oddness happened. Here's is just before the "move". Note how "bright" it is (i.e. colder than the background)
A few frames later it's less bright. I've stabilized it...
