What is going on with Silvio Berlusconi?

If western leaders and ex-leaders are members of this elusive elite club/NWO/Conspirators/Reptilians/Illuminati etc, what is happening with Silvio Berlusconi? Has he pissed off the high ranks of this powerful network or what? If there is such a group of conspirators, why are they feeding themselves off to prison and adorning their members like Silvio Berlusconi with criminal convictions?

Annoname seems to think the elite/Royal family are never arrested [for crimes they never committed anyway], so why is an ex-prime minister being convicted twice? First for tax evasion and now this? It would appear that justice is indeed blind.

Any thoughts anyone?

Maybe:

He has been hounded for some time... they want rid of him but he keeps refusing to go so it is the price that he is paying.

The persisting hammering of the international media against him, the odd case of "Noemi" and the fact that Berlusconi might be a clown but he's not stupid, got me thinking. As for the English press, it's well-known that they usually make fun of important things when they are told to carry out a political agenda, so their mock-chic jokes aimed at the middle-class bankers count nothing or almost nothing.

The latest scandal of the premier involves Noemi Letizia, 18-year-old girl who, according to the media, was first seen at a lunch with the Premier as his official company when she was still under age. Of course Berlusconi has denied any private or sexual involvement with this girl and said she's just his friend's daughter.

What's very weird is how Berlusconi has served himself up on a silver platter to photographers and journalists. He's a media tycoon after all, he does know how the media market works. And he also knew the press, especially his competitors' one, was waiting for some of his ill-considered moves

He was never invited to Bilderberg or BG, unlike Super Mario.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/bilderberg-leader-mario-monti-takes-over-italy-in-coup/27712

Italy’s new Prime Minister Mario Monti (with wife at left), who rose to power in what critics called a “coup d’etat,” is a prominent member of the world elite in the truest sense of the term. In fact, he is a leader in at least two of the most influential cabals in existence today: the secretive Bilderberg Group and David Rockefeller’s Trilateral Commission.

Nicknamed “Super Mario,” Monti is also an “international advisor” to the infamous Goldman Sachs, one of the most powerful financial firms in the world. Critics refer to the giant bank as the “Vampire Squid” after a journalist famously used the term in a hit piece. But its tentacles truly do reach into the highest levels of governments worldwide

Maybe he shouldn't have sex with an underage woman. It seems that he felt that the LAW didn't apply to him.

That guy is a complete idiot! It's interesting that both he and the said girl are denying the charge, so who is prosecuting and on what basis? But the way he lived when he held sway, was pretty obnoxious and in everyone's face! Yes, he did feel quite invincible and above the law.....pride goeth before a fall.

When it comes to underage, like in the UK, consent has a very little part to play in the issue. The crime is for someone to have sex with someone underage. The only time mitigation of consent may be used before bringing charges is if the ages are close together (a rule of thumb in the UK is up to 3 years if the "victim" is close to 16.

Interesting that Cairenn says "sex with an underage woman", being as she was 17 at first 'meeting' and as you say, 'if they both deny it' who prosecuted and where is the evidence?

I also find Cairenn's apparent moral outrage interesting... is it that he broke the law or that you feel 17 is too young, (if they did have sex), or that he is so old... or that prostitution seems a possibility, although she apparently hails from a wealthy and powerful family with ties to Berlusconi?

I think his conduct embarrassed a lot of people...

The ages of consent vary by jurisdiction across Europe. Spain (age 13) has the lowest age limit, while Malta and Turkey are at the highest end (both age 18

I was talking about age consent as well. You are right that 18 is the legal age for prostitution in Italy so she still was underage. However if you want to assume the stereotype that all prostitutes/escorts are from poor families I am more than happy to discuss that. Young attractive ladies like this will be at the upper end of the profession and attract obscene amounts of money for their services. Many wish to be able to keep themselves in a style they may be used to. I would be a little suspicious as it would be in her own business interests for a prosecution not to go through.

BiggerDave,

I think you completely misunderstood me. The issue of "consent" does not appear to apply here at all because both parties are denying that sex ever happened. What you have stated becomes applicable in cases where sexual intercourse has indeed occurred between an adult and a minor. If the argument is that the minor wanted it as in the case of the stupid teacher Jeremy Forrest, where the girls is still proclaiming 'love' for the guy, that would need to be looked at under statutory rape as a minor has no legal right to consent to sex. In Jeremy Forrest's case, he was in a position of authority over the said girl, which in itself provides for added ramifications. In Berlusconi's case, he and the girl are both denying that sex ever happened, so what evidence did the prosecutors have or relied upon to convict him? Don't get me wrong, Berlusconi is no saint, but the facts and 'evidence' seem a little wonky to me. They could have got him on rape charges with the scores of women he was running around with, but then I guess his detractors may have felt that 'sex with a minor' is a much better tag on the old guy!

Berlusconi had two convictions dropped because the statute of limitations ran out during the first appeal, three court cases where he was acquitted due to a change in the law, passed by Berlusconi's parliamentary majority after the beginning of the first trial, and other cases where the time limit expired during the investigation or during the trial. A conviction for perjury was set aside by a general amnesty.

The four-year sentence for tax fraud he received in 2012 has already been reduced to one year because of a 2006 amnesty law, that trial took six years due to an immunity law voted by Berlusconi's majority that eventually was ruled unconstitutional. Considering he has two appeals before that conviction stands, and none of his cases ever reached a second appeal before the statue of limitations ran out, I doubt he will go to prison any time soon.

BTW: regarding the latest conviction, and the (lack of) evidence prosecutors relied upon to convict him: the main charge was abuse of office for which they asked a five year prison sentence: Berlusconi claimed she was the niece of the Egyptian ambassador to get her out of police custody (for shoplifting). For paying the dancer for sex after racy "bunga bunga" evenings in a basement room of his mansion, they only asked a one year sentence.

Italy is a veritable treasure trove of conspiracy theories:

  • There's the masonic lodge Propaganda Due (P2) with it's Venerable Master Licio Gelli; a search of his villa in 1981 turned up a list of members (Berlusconi being one of them) and in 1982, hidden in the false bottom of a suitcase belonging to Gelli's daughter at Fiumicino airport, police found the "Plan for Democratic Rebirth" calling for consolidation of the media, suppression of trade unions and a rewriting of the Italian constitution.
  • The search warrants were part of the investigation into Banco Ambrosiano, of which the Vatican bank was the main shareholder. There were rumors about the death of Pope John Paul I, claims about funneling of covert U.S. funds to the contras and Solidarnosk by the Vatican bank. Roberto Calvi's personal secretary Graziella Corrocher jumped to her death from an office window and Calvi (chairman of Ambrosio) was later found hanging from the Blackfriars Bridge in London. Ruled a suicide by the coroner, some say the "black friars" of P2 were responsible.
  • There were claims of P2, the Italian military secret service and the secret NATO stay-behind network Gladio being responsible for the 1980 bombing of the central station in Bologna which killed 85 people.
  • There were claims of the CIA or US Navy intelligence being involved in the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing that killed 17 people.
  • The US and the Italian government would have manipulated the media to trigger the killing of Aldo Moro by his kidnappers.
  • NATO forces would have accidentally shot down an Italian passenger plane while their intended target, Libya's Colonel Kadhafi, got away.

What is known:

  • Several people were convicted for obstruction of justice related to the investigation of the Bologna bombing (by planting a suitcase filled with explosives and containing personal items of a French and a German extremist on a train to Bologna in 1981; and by creating a phony dossier "terror on trains" about the plans of international terrorist groups): Pietro Musumeci, member of P2 who was a former general and was the deputy director of Italy's military intelligence agency, SISMI; Francesco Pazienza, a businessman, officer of SISMI at the time of the bombing, who was also convicted in the Banco Ambrosio case; Licio Gelli, head of P2. Their convictions were overturned on appeal, and ultimately confirmed by the supreme court.
  • In 1998, David Carrett, officer of the U.S. Navy, was indicted by magistrate Guido Salvini on charge of political and military espionage and his participation to the 1969 Piazza Fontana bombing.
  • Paolo Taviani supervised the creation of the Italian branch of the NATO stay-behind network Gladio during his term as minister of defense ('53-'58). Taviana was minister in every government from 1953 to 1974. He told a parliamentary commission that Italy's military intelligence service was on the point of sending a senior officer from Rome to Milan to try to head off the Piazza Fontana bombing in 1969. A short while later the same organization sent a different officer from Padua in an effort to lay the blame for the atrocity on left-wing anarchists. He later said he did not believe the US Central Intelligence Agency was involved in organizing the Milan bombing, but "It seems to me certain, however, that agents of the CIA were among those who supplied the materials and who muddied the waters of the investigation" he said in his last interview.
  • The death of Calvi was ruled a suicide in 1982, the second inquest in 1983 returned an open verdict, and London police reopened the case as a murder inquiry in September 2003. His hands hadn't touched the bricks in his pockets, there was no rust from the scaffolding on his clothes, and at the time of death the tide was high, allowing someone with a boat to attach the body where it was found.
  • Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870 crashed into the Tyrrhenian Sea while en route from Bologna to Palermo in 1980, killing all 77 passengers and 4 crew on board. 21 days later, wreckage of a Libyan MIG 23 was discovered in mountains nearby. In 2011 the Palermo civil tribunal ordered the Italian government to pay 100 million euros to the relatives of the victims for failure to protect the flight and for concealing the truth and destroying evidence. In January 2013, Italy’s top criminal court ruled that it was "abundantly" clear that the flight was brought down by a missile and confirmed the lower court's order that the Italian government must pay compensation.
  • Four generals of the Italian Air Force were charged with treason for withholding information. In 2005 the appeals court ruled there had been insufficient grounds for the accusation.
  • Steve Pieczenik was an American negotiator and expert in terrorism who was sent by the US State Department, at the request of Cossiga, and remained in Italy for three weeks during Moro's detention. He has claimed the government released the rumor that Moro was dead to the press to show the Red Brigades that they would not negotiate. Pieczenik is also an author or co-author wit Tim Clancy, and it seems (unless that's another Dr with the same name) that he was a guest on Alex Jones show, called for indicting or executing Obama, and for a military junta. Maybe not the most credible source, this guy...

Seems like every link in the Propaganda Due article on wikipedia leads to more of the same. Are those stories conspiracy theories or real conspiracies? To me, any conspiracy seems more believable when Italians are involved.

Talking about conspiracies, the Washington Post sources for the Flight 870 article are gone (I searched the archives). Does the WP have only limited rights on Associated Press content perhaps?

Elfen lied,

Thanks a lot for this extensive information. I'd go through it later. I know he may never see the inside of a prison, but being prosecuted and then convicted is enough shaming. And for someone who is a member of the so-called ruling class, and according to you an alleged Illuminati; it gets a bit confusing. Do the Illuminatis feed on their own? If they truly exist?
