Speed tape vs Duct tape

There's been a little bit of a kerfuffle in NZ lately about "Duct tape" being used for repairs on aircraft and members of the public being a bit upset by the concept.

I've seen a few comments along those lines from chemmies to, and occasionally it gets a mention here.

The video in this article explains the differences between your regular hardware store duct tape, and the aluminium "speed tape" used on aircraft.

There's overwhelming documentation on the $500-$1000 (US$) tape.
Unfortunately some airline workers put it on haphazardly (not neatly) , making it "look" sloppy, or it can flutter off in flight.

As an older news story, this is one of those stories that get resurrected every 2 years or so.

(off topic) I've used a similar tape (cheaper), to help replicate scale models where I work.....
