Here's my high-level overview. (If Mick posts a better one, feel freeto delete this post.)

Sitrec ("situation recreation"?) is a tool to create a 3D model of the circumstances under which a video or photo was taken. These models include a lot of things that are relevant to debunking, e.g. aircraft flight paths, star and satellite positions. When the sitrec model matches the original video in a side-by-side synchronized display, it makes a compelling case that we've identified the unidentified object correctly.
tl;dr it's Google Earth on steroids.
