On mobile, if you long press on the compass, you will go into a limited AR (Augmented Reality) mode, where the look view camera follows the phone camera.

Note, it does not currently display the phone camera view, it's just using it for orientation, so not true AR in that sense.

Only tested on my iPhone. If someone could let me know what it does on Android, that would be great.

On my Pixel 7 Pro it enters the mode but thinks I am on an island in the Pacific off the coast of Califfornia and there is no camera view.

It never asked for location or camera permissions so I guess it didn't get them or something?

That's the default position for Custom mode, try it in Starlink - under the Sitrec menu, or
https://www.metabunk.org/sitrec/?sitch=starlink

But I guess I'll have a buy an Android phone.

On that view the location works, no camera though and it might be my magnetometer calibration but tilting back and forth spins around the compass points.
