One of the biggest annoyances and limitations of Sitrec was the map system, where you could only have a 9x9 grid of tiles.

As of 2.7.0, the default map type is "dynamic subdivision" - i.e., more like Google Earth, etc., where as you move around, the level of detail changes to match what you can see.

If this seems to be putting too much stress on your machine, you can adjust the "Max Details" in Sitrec/Settings to 10 or below. This setting will be saved for the next time you visit.

You can also return to the old grid method by turning off "Dynamic Subdivision" in the Terrain menu.

Sitrec used to default to Starlink, but now it defaults to custom, and Starlink is available in the Sitrec menu

With 2.7.5 I've done some significant performance upgrades to allow Sitrec to work on slower systems like laptops with integrated graphics (which was a particular problem with the new extended maps)

So if anyone has not been using it because it's too slow, give it another look.

It now locks the frame rate to 30 fps by default. If you have a fast machine, you can set it back to 60 in the settings menu.

Cool. It runs well on my RTX4070TI Super in 4k ;)

But this bit still annoys my OCD :D
Any future changes in the aspect ratio thing ?

2.7.8 Now (mostly) works on mobile for viewing sitches. I implemented touch controls similar to Google Maps.

This will be useful for sharing on social media, as 50% of people on X just use their phones.

It's also even faster than 2.7.5. It will try to automatically set the frame rate to the fastest possible.

I added a "Tile Segments" selector to the Settings menu. This determines how many segments a tile is divided up into for the purposes of elevation. It was 100 before, making 100x100 tiles, which was a bit heavy. 32 or 64 work fine. The only time you might want to go higher is to get a more accurate ridgeline.
