The Kirk shooter was lying prone on a roof twice as far away from the scene as the JFK shooter, who was shooting out of a bathroom window.

Not only does the added distance make the culprit harder to spot, the echoes from the building to the left and right of the line of fire would it make harder to hear where Kirk's bullet came from.

Then, in today's America more so than in 1968, the crowd would be more likely to expect a mass shooting, and more apt to flee.

Finally, your claim is badly supported, essentially arguing from incredulity: because you personally have not seen anyone point at the shooter, you assume nobody did.

My claim (that there is no instance captured on film of anyone pointing in the direction of the alleged shooters position) is supported by the total absence of evidence of anyone pointing or looking in the direction of the alleged shot.

EDIT: You also overlook the fact that there were hundreds of people at various distances between Kirk and the alleged shooters location. Yet none of them seem aware of where the shot came from.

It's not always easy to hear where a shot comes from. The acoustics of the environment play a large part as pointed out by @Mendel.
Even if no-one was filmed/ photographed pointing in the direction they think a shot came from, we know there was an audible shot.
That noise must have come from somewhere. It seems highly likely that Charlie Kirk was shot. Fragments of a rifle round were found on autopsy.

If Charlie Kirk was hit by a bullet from a .30-06 cartridge, it was almost certainly supersonic. Some bystanders would hear the sharp crack of the bullet passing them before the more distant sound of the gun's report. The former sound probably got their attention.
(Edited to add, if the shot was from the roof of the Losee Center,) The bulk of the building might have insulated those nearest the foot of the building from the sound to some extent, I don't think we know that the rifle barrel protruded over the edge of the roof.

Soldiers are taught to try and listen for the "bang", the report, after the "crack" of a nearby bullet, and then hopefully see smoke (difficult with smokeless ammunition) or movement in the direction where they think the bang came from. This is by no means always successful, and there are further taught actions for when it isn't.

This video from the Salt Lake Tribune (contains no graphic content) shows that people on the first level terrace looking down toward Kirk and their first reaction was to move away from Kirk's location. No one appears to know where the shot came from. They are roughly half way between Kirk and the rooftop location.

My impression is that people are not running toward or away from a shooter, but they were running to get into a building because the shooting was outside.
