    Spielberg's "Disclosure Day" pre-release Speculation

From that trailer, I suspect it is going to be much more general-woo oriented and less UFO-centric than many had assumed.

Baited into Rabbit hole: Mindset, social media and feedback loop.

A point I'd stress, though, is that a lot of people doing that lumping together are the proponents of the various woo. As NorCal Dave points out above, the idea of UFOs or Bigfoot as physical phenomena fitting into but previously unknown to science is being superseded by some amalgamation of...

Synchronicity - What's your experience of it?

The version I know of from Reddit HighStrangeness is the total woo, something actually in control version. So I'm enjoying learning the different definitions. Agree on your conclusion.

JD Vance Says UFOs Are Actually Demons

...rapture, could push a narrative of the fallen angels, or demons, appearing at the same time. Some in the spiritual (specifically christian) woo-o-sphere call this "the great deception". E.g. one random woo-meister (who coined the catchy phrase "when we go up [rapture] they show up [aliens]")...

Transients in the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey

It's a win/win situation. If they put the paper back, then it's a triumph for woo believers everywhere over the gatekeepers of Big Science and another step towards disclosure. If the take down other papers, it's the evil gatekeepers of Big Science further suppressing the important work done...

Synchronicity - What's your experience of it?

...especially the part about the subconscious mind prompting us to notice patterns consciously for some reason. But just to clarify again, the woo version of synchronicity posits that pattern recognition or even the existence of the coincidences is caused or created by something else... That...

I agree and I'm sure the various social media platforms recognize this and their algorithms use it to "promote engagement" by suggesting other woo "you might be interested in."

Yes that is certainly true, scientists onboard with woo can be hugely influential, even if their fields are very different.

    Spielberg's "Disclosure Day" pre-release Speculation

That's the move anyway. Bio Robots or inter dimensional beings leave the most room for LIZ interpretation. The communities are hyped on many social media websites . The Hollywood insider spilling the goods is perfect. And makes the marketing a self full filling prophecy.

JD Vance Says UFOs Are Actually Demons

This is one of the reasons why Metabunk, in its own way, is important. These are the forces of 'unreason', superstition and irrationality, actually forces of barbarism, that have never changed. Humans haven't evolved one joe since we trembled in terror before a solar eclipse. Every skeptic is a...

Psionic Contact with UFOs near Skinwalker Ranch

I think it's so you can keep your manly "practical no-nonsense seen-it-all bloke at-home-in-the-wild" credentials while embracing woo. Bit like Johnny Depp cavorting with cougars (as in big cats) and scratching desert rocks with his fingernails in his perfume ads.

Jake Barber tells Ross Coulthart about non-human technology - The "Egg"

...in physical ships (albeit with advanced warp drive tech) and crashing, and there are physical races like mantids, etc. And then you have more woo aligned people like who believe paranormal/interdimensional beings and shape-shifting orbs. But they can all live together under the same roof...

Perhaps more so *because* their fields are different. That support has broad coverage from diverse fields is considered a strength, pay no heed to the thinness of that support in each of those fields.

    The Age of Disclosure film

Is it a common rabbit hole for rock stars, or are they just more noteable than people in other lines of work. There have been an awful lot of people who could be catagorised as "rock stars" over the last few decades, after all. So having even a few dozen of those diving down that hole, would be...

    The Age of Disclosure film

Because that's all the proponents of woo ever offer (re. "rapidly accelerating to extreme speeds,") etc. Not bothering to try to prop up empty "evidence" (which you seem to be characterizing as steel manning) is not the same as MBers creating fallacies, including straw men. It's just not.

...the size of the pool/set of meaningful connections— they are in fact hidden even from the subject until triggered by some external event. Which all sounds Woo, yet I wouldn’t say the thing Jung and Pauli are trying to identify doesn’t exist or is just coincidence + delusion. Or maybe it is?

Baited into Rabbit hole: Mindset, social media and feedback loop.

There is indeed a lot of mixing things together, and it is not helpful. I quit UFO / paranormal forums because of the amalgamation of many different kinds of fringe beliefs with the UFO phenomenon. There are many people who don't care to think critically, and prefer to believe a good story or...

That is not reassuring. Hopefully he uses all that as a springboard to a fun and exciting story, and is not just making woo propaganda.

Transients in the Palomar Observatory Sky Survey

If "those who care about good science don't like what I'm doing" is a "win", there's little more that needs saying. Not that arXiv has ever been a particularly good arbiter (in particular in physics), but if they're ejecting your stuff you must clearly be doing something wrong. And that's not...

    Drones over New Jersey?

If it was a "dig", I don't know, as that nuance was so insignificant compared to the main thrust of his spiel, namely that the chinese do have woo-science (so, yes, NHI's tech), and it's bad that the americans don't have equivalent woo-science. I suspect if I was china-aligned I might even take...
