As per Mick's request for new threads to discuss specific sightings. The following News Nation video features an interview with Evan Cutler who is a Montclair, New Jersey resident. Evan Cutler is a writer and producer for On Patrol Live. A network that follows police departments live for social media.

Evan gives a detailed account of what he believes was a large drone the size of a school bus or two car garage over Montclair, New Jersey. His Instagram also gives a detailed account. He published one image of this sighting.

From the detail provided I believe that I have narrowed it down? Evan in the video states that he was returning from work at 0030 am. The sky in the image appears to be a bit bright for the wee small hours, but possibly flash and street lighting is having an effect?

Instagram post on the 2nd December has the sighting day as Friday. That would make it

Friday 29th November

0030 EST would be 0530 GMT/UTC

I believe that he is witnessing a departure from Newark Liberty International Airport.

Evan Cutler gave an on camera interview and provided some more details.

He narrowed down the time as being nearer to 0040. This explains why he only saw one aircraft departing out of Newark Liberty and narrows it down to being the second Airbus. That was the Airbus A350-9 departed after the Airbus A321.

Friday night about 1240 at night I'm coming home from work..... driving into Montclair. All of a sudden right over the horizon I see what I looks like the full Moon. .... all of a sudden this Moon is starting to move to the left and heading towards me ... not the Moon maybe it is a plane? Not a plane way too big and way too low in the sky and its the middle of the night. Not a helicopter .....
There are further snippets of the Evan Cutler interview in the video.

Video of a A350-9 departing. As the aircraft turned after departure Evan Cutler would have seen the bright lights of the aircraft as he described low on the horizon. He initially thought was a full Moon.

Friday night, about 12:40 at night, I'm coming home from work on the TV show I produce - On Patrol: Live...

And he just happens to be wearing an On Patrol: Live cap... C'mon.

And btw, to give it a little weirder twist. While On Patrol: Live is listed on IMDB, Evans is not credited anywhere on the show's IMDB page, nor is the show listed on his personal IMDB page.

His last IMDB credit is Live PD - 2016-2020. Maybe an oversight...?

Is this the case of another auto-focus (phone?) camera being unable to zero in on a small dot in the middle of a featureless sky? (The alternative would seem to be a manual focus camera whose operator realizes that things look larger when they're out of focus. :) ) Either way, I doubt that "vampire" qualities are involved, but the connection with secret Russian documents is gilding the lily just a tad too far to make him sound believable.

Isn't he talking about something that happened on the 29th? At that point the last full moon would have been on the 15th (so two weeks before)

But anyway, it's always convenient how UFOs (or Drones in this case) get super close and super low (like in this case, 150 feet of the ground while being 40 feet by 40 feet in size), yet they always run away when the person is about to take a picture. One would think if they don't want to get a picture taken, they wouldn't even get close to begin with, and if they are so nonchalant and don't mind it then at least one clear picture should exist.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but surely if someone says "on the way home from work on Friday night" it's more likely that they were working on Friday night, so they mean the early hours of Saturday? In this case Nov 30th?

This plane was low and lined up perfectly with his location at 0040.

In fact it would have flown right over him three minutes later at less than 3,000 feet, before turning back to the south to land.

"way too big and way too low in the sky"

If an A320 flew right over my head at 3,000 feet I reckon I could get a better photo than that blob, though.

I was looking through my photos to see if I had taken a similar photo, but I hadn't.

But to give an idea of the size: an A320 is 123 feet long, so at 3000 feet it would have an angular diameter of about 2.35 degrees.

The moon has an angular diameter of about 0.5 degrees, so the plane when overhead would appear more than four and a half times longer than the size of the full moon.

Here's a mockup.

That is useful, but since most people over-estimate how big the moon appears to be in the sky it may lead folks to overestimate how big such a plane would appear. The moon appears to be roughly the size of an aspirin tablet (as commonly formulated and sold in the US, anyway) held at arms length -- so I reduced it for display in this post until on my laptop sitting on my lap, it appears to be the correct size:

Since laptops (and other devices with screens) and laps (and distance to the screen) vary, the reader may need to move closer or further from the screen for the moon to appear the correct size.

That's a naked eye view, while I remind myself that cameras are not eyes.

That kind of works both ways though - people think the full moon appears big in the sky so a plane 4-5 times as big would be huge when remembering it.

And even a phone camera would be able to fill a significant portion of the screen with it.

This is an uncropped iPhone photo I took of an A380 at a reported 8,850 feet almost directly overhead, at full telephoto.

The A380 is 240ft long by 262ft wingspan, so at 8,850 feet that's about 1.55 x 1.7 degrees.

An A320 at 3000 feet would be about 40% bigger in the frame.
